一、语法选择(共 15 小题;每小题 1 分,满分 15 分)
阅读下面短文,按照句子结构的语法性和上下文连贯的要求,从各题所给的 A、B、C、D 项中选出最佳选项。
There are four distinct seasons in most parts of China, and each 1 its own magic. Spring usually arrives in March, bringing warm weather and light rain. The earth wakes up from 2 long sleep—grass turns green, flowers bloom, and birds start singing 3 the trees. Farmers begin to work on their land, and many families like to take trips to the countryside 4 weekends.
Summer comes after spring, and it is 5 hottest season of the year. The days are longer, and the sun shines brightly. Afternoon often brings thunder and lightning, 6 heavy rain quickly cools the air. People enjoy 7 to the beach, swimming in the sea, or eating cold ice cream. Some students go camping during summer holidays, where they learn to build tents and watch stars at night.
Autumn arrives in September, making the weather cool and dry. Leaves change color—brown, red, and yellow—and slowly fall to the ground. This is the harvest season: farmers are busy 8 rice and fruits from the fields. Families often have 9 outing to pick apples or climb mountains. The Mid-Autumn Festival also comes in autumn, 10 people gather to eat mooncakes and admire the full moon.
Winter starts in December, and the temperature drops sharply. It often snows in northern China, turning the world white. Children love 11 snowmen and having snowball fights. Bears and snakes find warm places 12 through the cold months. People usually wear thick coats and scarves to keep warm.
China’s 24 solar terms are closely connected to the seasons. For example, “Lichun” marks the start of spring, and “Dongzhi” means the arrival of the longest night. 13 these terms help farmers plan their work and people understand nature’s changes.
I think seasons are like a beautiful poem. 14 one ends, another begins, bringing new sights and experiences. 15 you pay attention, you’ll find beauty in every season.

Last year, my science teacher asked us to keep a “season diary” for our project. I was excited because I’ve always loved watching nature change. I decided to record the 16 around my school and home every two weeks.
In early March, spring was just starting. The cherry trees near the playground had small pink buds. I noticed ants 17 busily carrying food—my mom said they were preparing for their busy season. It rained lightly one afternoon, and the next day, the grass looked much greener. I wrote down in my diary: “Spring is like a painter, 18 color to the world.”
By June, summer had arrived. The sun rose early and set late. During break time, most students bought ice cream from the canteen. I observed that the lotus flowers in the school pond opened at 19 . My diary entry said: “Summer is hot but fun. I love hearing crickets sing at night.”
September brought autumn. The maple tree in front of my house turned red. One windy morning, I saw leaves dancing 20 the air. Our class went to a farm for a trip—we picked oranges and learned how farmers store crops. I noted: “Autumn is the season of 21 . Everything feels peaceful.”
Winter came in December. It didn’t snow in my city, but the air was cold and dry. I watched birds flying south, and my cat stayed indoors all day. On a sunny morning, I found frost on the window—it looked like white lace. I wrote: “Winter is quiet, but it 22 us for spring.”
When I showed my diary to the teacher in January, she praised it for the 23 details. She said my observations helped everyone see how seasons change. I realized that keeping the diary made me 24 the small wonders of nature. Before, I never noticed how leaves grow or flowers bloom. Now, I wait eagerly for each new season to 25 my diary with new stories.

三、阅读理解(共 15 小题;每小题 2 分,满分 30 分)
阅读下列短文,从各题所给的 A、B、C、D 项中选出最佳选项。

Seasons are not the same all over the world. The Earth is tilted (倾斜) as it goes around the sun, so some parts get more sunlight than others during different times of the year. This causes four seasons in places like China, the US, and most of Europe. But near the equator (赤道), there are only two seasons: wet and dry.
In the Amazon rainforest, the wet season lasts from December to May. Heavy rain falls almost every day, and rivers rise high. Plants grow quickly, and animals like monkeys and parrots have plenty of food. The dry season is from June to November. It rains less, and some small rivers dry up. Animals move to find water, and trees lose some leaves to save energy.
Near the North Pole (北极), the seasons are extreme. The “Midnight Sun” season is from May to August. The sun never sets, so it is bright even at night. Ice melts a little, and polar bears hunt for seals on the ice. The “Polar Night” season is from November to February. The sun never rises, so it is dark all day. Temperatures drop to -30°C, and most animals hibernate (冬眠) or move south.
People’s lives change with these seasons too. In the Amazon, farmers plant crops during the wet season and harvest them in the dry season. In the Arctic, indigenous (土著的) people like the Inuit hunt and fish in summer, and prepare warm homes for winter.
No matter where we live, seasons shape our food, homes, and activities. They remind us that nature is always changing.
26.Why do some places have four seasons
A. The sun is brighter in some months.
B. The Earth tilts when moving around the sun.

D. Animals and plants change with the weather.
27.What happens in the Amazon during the wet season
A. Rivers dry up completely.
B. Animals move to find water.
C. Trees lose most of their leaves.
D. It rains almost every day.
28.How long does the “Midnight Sun” last near the North Pole
A. 3 months
B. 4 months
C. 5 months
D. 6 months

My name is Mia, and my favorite season is autumn. Let me tell you why I love it so much.
First, the weather is perfect. It’s not too hot like summer or too cold like winter. The temperature is usually around 15°C, which is just right for outdoor activities. I often ride my bike to the park after school. The wind blows gently, and the air smells like fallen leaves and ripe fruits.
Second, autumn has beautiful colors. The leaves on the trees turn amazing shades of red, orange, and yellow. My neighborhood has a long road lined with maple trees. When the leaves fall, the road looks like a golden carpet. I like to collect different shaped leaves and press them in my notebook. Last year, I made a leaf collage (拼贴画) for my art class and got an A!
Third, autumn is full of delicious food. My grandma makes mooncakes for the Mid-Autumn Festival. They are sweet and have red bean or lotus seed filling. We also pick apples at my uncle’s farm every October. The apples are crisp and juicy—much better than the ones from the supermarket. My mom uses them to make apple pie, which is my favorite dessert.
Finally, autumn has fun festivals. Besides the Mid-Autumn Festival, there’s also Double Ninth Festival. On this day, people climb mountains and visit old people. Last year, my family climbed Mount Tai with my grandparents. We took many photos and ate traditional rice cakes. It was a wonderful day.
Some people say autumn is sad because leaves fall and days get shorter. But I think it’s a season of beauty and joy. I can’t wait for this year’s autumn to come!
29.What is the temperature usually like in autumn where Mia lives
A. Around 5°C
B. Around 10°C
C. Around 20°C
D. Around 15°C
30.Why does Mia like the road in her neighborhood

C. It’s good for riding bikes.
D. It leads to the park.
31.What filling does Mia’s grandma put in mooncakes
A. Apple
B. Chocolate
C. Red bean
D. Strawberry
32.What do people do on Double Ninth Festival
A. Eat mooncakes
B. Climb mountains
C. Pick apples
D. Make leaf collages

China’s 24 solar terms are an ancient calendar system that guides farming and daily life. They were created over 2,000 years ago and listed as a UNESCO cultural heritage in 2016. Each term lasts about 15 days, and they follow the seasons closely.
Let’s look at some important solar terms for autumn. “Liqiu” (Start of Autumn), usually on August 7 or 8, marks the end of summer. Even though it’s still hot, people can feel a slight coolness in the morning. In some places, people eat peaches on this day—they believe it will keep them healthy.
Next is “Chushu” (End of Heat) around August 23. The temperature starts to drop, and heavy rain becomes less frequent. Farmers are busy harvesting early rice. In southern China, people often eat ducks during Chushu, as they think ducks can “clear heat” from the body.
“Qiufen” (Autumn Equinox) falls around September 23. On this day, day and night are the same length. After Qiufen, nights get longer and days shorter. It’s a good time to fly kites—many people write wishes on their kites and cut the string, hoping the wind will carry the wishes away.
The last autumn term is “Dongzhi” (Winter Solstice) No, wait—“Hanlu” (Cold Dew) and “Shuangjiang” (Frost’s Descent) come next. “Shuangjiang” around October 23 is the last autumn term. It means frost starts to appear in the morning. Farmers harvest the last crops, and animals prepare for winter. People often eat persimmons (柿子) during Shuangjiang, as they are sweet and said to keep away the cold.
These solar terms show how Chinese people lived in harmony with nature. Even today, many families still follow their traditions.
33.When was the 24 solar terms listed as a UNESCO heritage
A. 2000 years ago
B. In 2016
C. In 2008
D. In 1990
34.What do people eat on Liqiu in some places

C. Peaches
D. Rice cakes
35.What happens on Autumn Equinox
A. The temperature drops sharply.
B. Day and night are equal in length.
C. Frost starts to appear.
D. Farmers harvest late rice.
36.Which is the last autumn solar term
A. Chushu
B. Qiufen
C. Hanlu
D. Shuangjiang

Have you ever wondered why leaves change color in autumn It’s a fascinating process caused by chemistry and the changing weather.
Leaves are green in spring and summer because of chlorophyll (叶绿素). Chlorophyll helps plants make food using sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide—a process called photosynthesis. Trees need a lot of sunlight and water to make chlorophyll.
In autumn, days get shorter and temperatures drop. Trees start to save energy for winter, so they stop making chlorophyll. As the green chlorophyll fades away, other colors that were hidden start to show. These colors have been in the leaves all along, but chlorophyll was too strong to see them.
The red and purple colors come from anthocyanins (花青素). Trees make more anthocyanins when there are cool nights and bright days. This is why leaves are brighter red in some years—if autumn has lots of sunshine and cold nights, the colors will be more vivid.
Yellow and orange colors come from carotenoids (类胡萝卜素). These are the same substances that make carrots orange and bananas yellow. Carotenoids are very stable, so they don’t fade easily. This is why some leaves stay yellow for a long time before falling.
Eventually, the tree stops sending water and nutrients to the leaves. The stems of the leaves become weak, and the wind blows them off. The leaves fall to the ground and slowly break down, becoming food for the tree. This helps the tree grow again in spring.
Next time you see colorful autumn leaves, remember it’s not just beautiful—it’s science at work!
37.Why are leaves green in summer
A. Because of chlorophyll.
B. Because of anthocyanins.
C. Because of carotenoids.
D. Because of sunlight.
38.When do trees stop making chlorophyll
A. When days get longer.
B. When temperatures drop.
C. When it rains a lot.
D. When they finish growing.
39.What causes red and purple colors in leaves
A. Chlorophyll
B. Carotenoids
C. Anthocyanins
D. Sunlight
40.Why do some autumn leaves have brighter red colors
A. Nights are cool and days are bright.
B. There are many rainy days.
C. Temperatures stay high.
D. The tree gets more water.

The four seasons and China’s 24 solar terms work together to show nature’s rhythm, and they have guided people’s lives for thousands of years. Each season has unique features, and solar terms make these changes more clear.
Spring starts with “Lichun” (Start of Spring). At this time, the snow melts, and small green buds appear on tree branches. Birds fly back from the south, and the air is filled with the smell of fresh grass. People often celebrate “Lichun” by eating spring pancakes—this tradition stands for hope for a new year. 41 They turn the soil, clear the fields, and get ready to plant seeds like rice and wheat, as spring rain will soon provide enough water for the crops.
Summer’s most important solar term is “Xiazhi” (Summer Solstice), the longest day of the year. The sun shines brightly, making the weather hot—perfect for the fast growth of crops. 42 These rains not only cool down the hot air but also water the fields, so farmers don’t need to spend extra time carrying water to their crops.
Autumn brings “Qiufen” (Autumn Equinox), a day when day and night are of the same length. After “Qiufen”, nights get longer, and the weather becomes cool and dry. Leaves turn red, yellow, and brown, and they fall slowly to the ground like colorful butterflies. 43 Some families go hiking in the mountains to enjoy the autumn scenery, while others pick fresh fruits like apples and pears in orchards.
Winter’s key solar term is “Dongzhi” (Winter Solstice), the shortest day of the year. The temperature drops sharply, and many northern places are covered in snow. 44 Dumplings and glutinous rice cakes are popular choices—these hot foods can keep people warm in the cold weather, and sharing them with family is a long-held custom.
The 24 solar terms are more than just a way to mark seasons. 45 Even today, many people still follow the customs of each solar term, and schools often teach students about them to pass on this important part of Chinese culture.
A. Because of the cold, every family prepares warm food to keep away from the chill.
B. Though the days are long and hot, afternoons often have thunder and lightning.
C. They are a bridge between nature and human life, carrying rich Chinese traditions.
D. Besides eating spring pancakes, farmers also start their busy work in the fields.
E. This pleasant weather makes weekend outings a favorite activity for many families.

My Seasonal School LifeI love my school life, especially how it changes with the four seasons. Each season brings new activities and fun memories.
