形容词和副词最高级的构成
一、单音节和部分双音节词：
1. 一般情况下在词尾加-est；
2. 以不发音的字母e结尾的单词在词尾加-st。
3. 以“辅音字母 + y”结尾的双音节词，先把“y”改为“i”再加-est。
4. 重读闭音节词尾只有一个辅音字母时，先双写该辅音字母，再词尾加-est。
二、多音节词和部分双音节词：
在单词前加most。

1. He swims very well. You swim better. I can swim best.

4. You've got little chocolate. He's got less. I've got the least.
形容词和副词最高级的含义及用法
形容词和副词的最高级用于三者或三者以上（人或事物）的比较，表示其中有一个在某一方面超过其他几个，意为“最……”。
(1) The cheetah runs the fastest among all land animals.
(2) The biggest land animal in the world is the African elephant.
(3) This park is the most beautiful of the three.
后面可用带有 of、in、among 的短语等来说明比较的范围。
Grammar
表示在某一场所或范围内“最……”，与 in引导的介词短语 连用。
表示在不少于三者的同类中“最……”，与 of或among引导的介词短语 连用。
He is the tallest in the team.
He is the tallest of/among all the students.
他在队伍里是最高的。
他是所有学生中最高的。
It is the smallest fish of the three.
最高级的用法
He runs (the) fastest in his class.
形容词最高级前一般要加定冠词the；
副词的最高级前面可以加定冠词the, 也可以省略。
最高级的用法
They have the biggest seats.
She is my best friend.
These are the most beautiful sunflowers.
Mike’s youngest son is only 2 years old.
形容词最高级前有形容词性物主代词或名词所有格等修饰语时, 则不用定冠词the。

形容最高级用在选择疑问句中，
结构为：Who/Which..., A, B or C
最高级的用法
Shanghai is one of the biggest cities in the world.
She is one of my best friends.
Elephants are one of the heaviest animals.
表示 “最……之一” 的句式，要用
one of the +形容词最高级+可数复数名词。
最高级的用法
表示 “....是...中...第几” 的句式，要用主语 + be +
序数词 + 最高级 + 名词单数 + 表示范围的短语。
The Yellow River is the second longest river in China.
黄河是中国第二长的河流。
Tom is the third tallest boy inour class.
Tom在我们班男孩中个子第二高。

He is the tallest in his class.=
He is taller than any other student in his class.
注意：最高级和比较级可以转换
He is taller than the other students in his class.
