Years ago, while waiting for my adult ballet class, a woman asked me abruptly (唐突地), “So, do you have this perfect life ” It was a(n) 1 question. I froze—was she serious Who has a perfect life Yes, I’d sometimes found the perfect dress, 2 I’d never use that word for my life. I felt ashamed, for somehow giving her that impression. She watched me. I finally 3 to whisper a quick “No”.
By then, the teacher turned on the music to start class. However, I 4 my concentration had been disturbed. This woman’s words wouldn’t stop 5 in my thoughts. I wanted to know how she 6 her very mistaken idea. If she knew my 7 , she never would have had the desire to ask me that question. I did my best to do our floor 8 in front of the mirror. For a few moments, I didn’t see the usual 9 of my older self practicing ballet. I only saw the little girl who lost her father at two and 10 a painful childhood. Perfect My life had been far from it.
When those 11 faded away, I was left with the woman I had become, the woman 12 by all those things I considered imperfect. I now saw the woman who had learned to live with imperfection and be 13 for every little joy in life. I no longer feel 14 or feel like I must keep a record of all the difficult times to prove my life isn’t perfect. If ever again asked, I would have a different 15 , because now I see that, despite all its imperfection, it is life.

My friend Michelle is blind, but you’d never know it. She makes such good use of her other 31 , including her “sixth sense”, that many people often don’t realize (意识到) she’s blind. I realized this the first time after my six-year-old daughter, Kayla, went to play there. When Kayla came home, she was very 32 about her day. She told me they played games and did art projects. But she was excited about her fingerpainting (手指画) project.
“Mom, guess what ” said Kayla, all smiles. “I learned how to 33 colors today! Blue and red make purple, and yellow and blue make green! And Michelle painted with us.”
To my great surprise, my child learned about colors from a blind friend! “Michelle told me my picture 34 happiness and pride (骄傲). She really 35 what I was doing!” Kayla said she had never known how good fingerpainting felt 36 Michelle showed her how to paint without looking at her paper.
I realized Kayla didn’t know that Michelle was blind. When I told my daughter that Michelle was blind, she was quiet for a while. Special Care Brings Special Bond
On March 12, 2010, I was told that I had a new baby brother. A week later my mom told me that the hospital check-up results were not good. My brother had 56 problems.
We went to a famous vision center several times, but the 57 didn’t work, so my family began learning braille (盲文). I should correct myself when I say “my family”, because I didn’t want to sit down every night and learn symbol after symbol. I just did my own things. My parents spent hours with my brother 58 him and themselves by playing braille games.
Years passed. The summer before ninth grade, as my parents had to go on business trips, it was up to me to take care of my brother. This meant sending him to summer camp in the morning, making meals for him and playing with him.
One day my father asked me to read a braille note, and I failed. My dad’s eyes were almost filled with tears. He was so 59 that I didn’t care enough about my brother. This 60 me, realizing how selfish I had been. I wanted to talk to him, but I couldn’t even read 61 phrases like: “Are you hungry ” “Do you want to play ” “Where do you want to go ” and other questions I wanted to ask but didn’t know how.
My family and I started taking braille classes at my brother’s school. We sat together as a family watching braille teaching videos and playing braille games.
Today I can 62 very well with my brother. It makes me smile when my brother shows me a braille message about his day, and others can’t understand it. I realized it was no fun not knowing what my family was talking about.
So if you have a family member with special needs, don’t keep him or her at a distance. This person should be the most important in your heart. For me, braille now comes before games, friends and hobbies, because it is the 63 of my family.

“BANG!” the door closed heavily. My father was standing on one side and I on the other side.
We were 64 in great anger. “Never set foot in this house again!” my father shouted. With tears, I rushed out and ran along the street.
I walked around and around. A young father who held a child in his arms walked 65 me. I felt as if I saw my childhood—happy and peaceful.
But now... I don’t know 66 it is because I have grown up or because my dad is getting old. We have different thoughts. Whenever I do something wrong, he never accepts it. We are just like two people coming from two different worlds. It feels like there is an iron door 67 us that can never be opened.
My heart was frozen on this hot summer night. As I walked on, there were 68 people on the streets, until I had only the street lights to be with me. When I finally reached the high-rise apartment block in which I lived, I saw the light was still on.
I 69 to myself, “Is father waiting for me, or is he still angry with me ” In fact, it was 70 . Perhaps, dad was throwing away some of his old stamps. Perhaps he thought they were useless. All the lights were off except 72 . Dad was always like this. Maybe he didn’t know how to express himself. After shouting at me, he never showed any kindness or any moments of 73 . He has been a leader for so long that telling everyone else what to do has become his second nature.
At last, I decided to open the door. As soon as I opened it, tears ran down my face. I suddenly realized the iron door that I had imagined was not there. Love is second to none.
