Text 1
W: Oh no, my laptop is dead. I completely forgot to charge the battery last night.
M: The presentation is in 10 minutes. I can give you my power bank. You might just have enough time to get it
started.
W: Thanks!
Text 2
M: Excuse me, I’m looking for the science building. Am I on the right way
W: Well, you’ve just passed the central library. The science building is on the other side of the campus. You should
have turned left at the city museum entrance.
M: I see. Thank you.
Text 3
M: May I ask for a day off this Friday
W: Is everything alright, Henry The test is coming.
M: I’m fine. Actually, my elder brother is getting married this Friday, and I’m his best man.
W: OK. Family is important.
Text 4
M: Did you go to the weekend market
W: Yes, the live music was great and I bought a beautiful handmade scarf.
M: Sounds wonderful. Was the price fair
W: It was! It would have been a perfect afternoon if it had stayed open a little longer.
Text 5
W: Luke, we’ve found a suitable venue for ski with a reasonable price. Wanna come
M: Sounds amazing. But I’m a total green hand. Is it safe I really don’t want to get hurt.
W: You can take lessons. The instructors are all really great.
M: OK, I’m in.
Text 6
M: Excuse me, the machine shows ten dollars, but that can’t be right. I have the special stamp from the university
concert.
W: You do have the stamp on your parking ticket. Let me check... The system shows you’ve been here for two and a
half hours.
M: But with the stamp, the first 30 minutes should be free.
W:You are correct. The price is four dollars per hour after the free period. The machine must have made a mistake.
I’ll adjust the charge for you.
M: Thank you.
Text 7
W: Ben I can’t believe it’s you! It’s been ages since graduation.
M: Alice! Wow, what a surprise. You’re still at the university, right
W: Yep, trying to pursue a higher degree. So I basically live in the library these days. What about you
M: I started working right after graduation. Actually, I’m just grabbing a quick coffee before meeting my colleagues
for dinner in a nearby restaurant. Well, any recommendations for the drinks

W: You ask the right person! I am a regular customer. I tried their new special juice last week. It looked great, but
honestly, it was way too sweet for my taste. And the iced tea is also disappointing.
M: Thanks for the heads-up. I don’t like sweet drinks either. How about a simple black coffee
W: You read my mind.
Text 8
M: Oh, I’m wasting so many hours on my phone. Every funny short video is just the same kind of joke or silly dance;
even the advertisements are the similar. It feels like everyone is just copying each other.
W: I know what you mean, but those are just for fun. Besides, not all short videos are like that. I am fond of the ones
that teach you how to do all kinds of things. I learned how to fix my bike from one yesterday.
M: Hmm, maybe those are better. I just believe that good content shouldn’t only kill time. It should open up our
minds or encourage us to explore more about the world.
W: That’s right. It’s all about what you choose to watch.
Text 9
W: Welcome to“ Community Focus.” My name is Jane. Today, we’re with Mr. Evans, the organizer of the Greendale
Community Garden. Welcome, Mr. Evans.
M: Thank you.
W: So, could you tell us what your program is all about
M: Of course. We offer small plots of land to local residents where they can manage their own little space and grow
vegetables. It’s a place for people to connect, as well.
W: I heard local students are involved
M: That’s a wonderful part of it. We have student volunteers who come on weekends. They don’t work on the
private plots, but they help maintain the shared areas, like the pathways. In return, our experienced senior
gardeners often take the time to teach them real, practical skills, like how to prepare the soil.
W: A true win-win situation!
M: Yes, the students also show our senior members how to use their phones to identify a plant disease with an app,
for example.
W: So, the garden is really more than just a place for plants.
M: That’s right. Our main goal is to use this garden to bring our younger and older generations together in the
community.
Text 10
M: Good evening. Tonight, I want to share how we can use art to spread the word about the changing climate. In
our day-to-day lives, the loss of local wildlife due to pollution can be hard to see. We know our river is not clean,
but we don’t see the fish that are no longer there. So, I decided to do something to make this invisible loss visible. I
started an art project called“ Fading Away”. We painted huge, colorful pictures of the fish and birds that used to
live in our city on the walls of buildings along the riverbank. But here’s the key: we used a special, heat-sensitive
paint. On cool days, the animals in the pictures are bright and beautiful. But as the temperature rises on hot summer
days, the paint slowly fades, and the animals seem to disappear right before your eyes. This shows people directly
how the changing environment threatens our local wildlife. The project has already had a real-world effect. The
“disappearing” animals started a powerful conversation in our community, and it inspired the creation of a new
volunteer group,“ Friends of the City”, which now organizes clean-up activities every month.

应用文
If I have to use a word to define my previous year, it will be“ growth”.
Last year has witnessed my development in many ways. Academically, I learned to think critically and solve
complex problems, which was a huge step forward. Personally, by joining the school debate club, I stepped out of my
comfort zone and became more confident and open-minded. Every challenge I faced was an opportunity to learn and
improve, shaping me into a better version of myself.
I am sure the experience will light up my way ahead.
读后续写
Paragraph 1: I turned and looked at my husband in disbelief. The grand lighthouse stood inaccessible behind
the metal sign. My shoulders sank, the sting of disappointment sharp and cold in the damp air. Seeing my
disappointment, he gave me a warm smile and said,“ The big attractions are closed, but our adventure isn’t over.”
His calm voice reminded me of my father’s advice: we can always choose our attitude. At that moment, I made a
choice. I would not let a few locked doors ruin our family vacation. Taking a deep breath, I nodded toward the small
path we had noticed earlier.
Paragraph 2: The path led to a silent beach. Instead of feeling disappointed by the gray weather, we took off our
shoes and ran towards the waves. We had a simple walk on the beach. There we also found the colorful sea glass
mentioned in the brochure. We spent the next hour like treasure hunters, laughing as we searched for the most
beautiful pieces. We couldn’t change that our plans had failed, but we had changed our attitude. That simple choice
gave us a more joyful and memorable day than any grand plan could have.
