Step 1 Lead-in Present some pictures of DIY and have a free talk with students. Q: Have you ever tried DIY before Would you like to try it Do you like DIY What do you think of DIY A: DIY can make common things uncommon and unusual. Step 2 Revision 1. Review and answer Look at some pictures and have a revision about Andrew’s DIY story in the Reading period of this unit. 2. Ask and answer Q:What do you think of Andrew’s DIY jobs A: They are not correct/incorrect. not comfortable=uncomfortable not lucky=unlucky not possible=impossible Step 3 Presentation 1. Look and find Look at more examples and try to find the rule. 2. Guess and say Give more examples with the prefixes un-/in-/im- and enable students to find when to use the three prefixes. un- + most adj. im- + adj. starting with /b//p//m/ in- + some special adj.
