The first time I met Paul, he had a fierce determination in his eyes and a smile that wanted to taste victory. It was clear that he would stop at nothing to make his dream of climbing Mount Kosciuszko a reality. To his credit, he did it to raise funds for a cause close to his heart. And finally, he climbed the mountain with the help of our team of determined explorers. We made the 450-kilometer journey from Sydney to begin our adventure. Then on the morning of our big day, we set out earlier than the sun to Charlotte’s Pass — our start and our finish. With our bellies filled with coffee and our souls with excitement, we put on our harnesses (背带), pulled Paul and began our mission. The first 1 kilometer of our journey was mostly flat. Upon reaching Seaman’s Hut at the 6-kilometer mark, the weather shifted, with strong winds, a drop in temperature, and storm clouds appearing in the distance. Nonetheless, we battled on to Rawson’s Pass at 7.6 kilometers. We took a break to refuel our bodies. By this stage, everyone was starting to feel tired, but we were determined to conquer the last 900 meters to the top.Up until this point, the road was mostly well-worn, enabling our harness system to run smoothly. The last leg tested our persistence and teamwork, forcing us to climb over rocks and narrow platforms.Suddenly all of the sweat, aching muscles and lack of sleep didn’t matter. We had made it to the top of Australia, and there could not be a more beautiful experience than seeing the joy on everyone’s face. But we were only halfway through our mission. We still needed to return to Charlotte’s Pass to celebrate our victory with all the other teams involved. It was a quiet journey back, with everyone worn out and hungry. Then, almost 9 hours after we had left it, we ran to a cheering crowd.24.What do we know about Paul A.He hoped to get rid of his wheelchair. B.He dreamt of conquering Mount Kosciuszko.C.He achieved nothing due to illness. D.He competed with other people.25.Which word best describes the climbing of the team A.Exhausting. B.Smooth. C.Enjoyable. D.Discouraging.26.What about the road after Rawson’s Pass A.Winding. B.Well-worn. C.Destroyed. D.Challenging.27.What does the author think is the most important about this climbing A.The pleasure it brings. B.The scenery along the way.C.The teamwork of the members. D.The pursuit of success.CPopularization has in some cases changed the original meaning of emotional (情感的) intelligence. Many people now misunderstand emotional intelligence as almost everything desirable in a person's makeup that cannot be measured by an IQ test, such as character, motivation, confidence, mental stability, optimism and “people skills.” Research has shown that emotional skills may contribute to some of these qualities, but most of them move far beyond skill-based emotional intelligence. We prefer to describe emotional intelligence as a specific set of skills that can be used for either good or bad purposes. The ability to accurately understand how others are feeling may be used by a doctor to find how best to help her patients, while a cheater might use it to control potential victims. Being emotionally intelligent does not necessarily make one a moral person.Although popular beliefs regarding emotional intelligence run far ahead of what research can reasonably support, the overall effects of the publicity have been more beneficial than harmful. The most positive aspect of this popularization is a new and much needed emphasis (重视) on emotion by employers, educators and others interested in promoting social well-being. The popularization of emotional intelligence has helped both the public and researchers re-evaluate the functionality of emotions and how they serve people adaptively in everyday life.Although the continuing popular appeal of emotional intelligence is desirable, we hope that such attention will excite a greater interest in the scientific and scholarly study of emotion. It is our hope that in coming decades, advances in science will offer new perspectives (视角) from which to study how people manage their lives. Emotional intelligence, with its focus on both head and heart, may serve to point us in the right direction.28.What is a common misunderstanding of emotional intelligence A.It can be measured by an IQ test. B.It helps to exercise a person’s mind.C.It includes a set of emotional skills. D.It refers to a person’s positive qualities.29.Why does the author mention “doctor” and “cheater” in paragraph 2 A.To explain a rule. B.To clarify a concept.C.To present a fact. D.To make a prediction.30.What is the author’s attitude to the popularization of emotional intelligence A.Favorable. B.Intolerant.C.Doubtful. D.Unclear.31.What does the last paragraph mainly talk about concerning emotional intelligence A.Its appeal to the public. B.Expectations for future studies.C.Its practical application. D.Scientists with new perspectives.DSublingual delivery means delivering medicine under the tongue. This area is not a very common place to deliver drugs, but it is very effective for the drugs to be absorbed quickly into the body.A Swiss biotech company, BioLingus, has developed sublingual delivery of peptides (肽) and proteins. It has opened the door to non-invasive delivery of many biological drugs that had so far only been taken through injections. The primary challenge in developing the technique was stabilizing the proteins. BioLingus turned to nature to find a solution. The seeds of plants contain a high concentration of proteins, which have to survive and remain complete for years, sometimes in extreme conditions of temperature, moisture, or drought. By mimicking these mechanisms, BioLingus has been able to come up with a way to preserve and stabilize proteins for a very long time at room temperature through advanced bioengineering. And because of this, sublingual drugs are more adaptable than injection solutions that must usually be refrigerated. In itself, this opens up the possibility for social innovation as well as biological innovation.Due to the strong stability of BioLingus’ technology, sublingual drugs are very well suited for use in some less developed countries. Biological drugs usually have to be cooled all the way from manufacturing right up to when they reach the patient, and then injected. In many less developed countries, however, effective logistical cold chains are non-existent or not very good. With BioLingus’ sublingual technology, however, the cold chain can be minimized or not needed at all.In addition, because the drugs can be given orally instead of by injection, complications (并发症) due to infected needles are also prevented. What’s more, although the technology is hi-tech, from a manufacturing perspective it is relatively low-cost. So, the combination of these factors makes it an excellent technology for use in some less developed countries — very much a social innovation.32. Which of the following inspired BioLingus’ solution to stabilizing the proteins A.Proteins contained in plants.B.Plants that live in extreme conditions.C.The ways proteins survive extreme conditions.D.Seeds growing at a steady and high temperature.33.What does the underlined word "this" in paragraph 4 refer to A.Proteins in injection solutions must be refrigerated.B.BioLingus came up with a technology through biomimicry.C.Sublingual drugs are both socially and biologically innovative.D.Sublingual drugs keep proteins stable for a long time at room temperature.34. Why is sublingual delivery suited to some less developed countries A.Because these countries lack effective cold chains.B.Because it is easier to be accepted in these countries.C.Because it is less expensive and more high-tech than injection solutions.D.Because there are more complications due to infected needles in these countries.35. What is the best title of this passage A.Inspiration from Nature Transforms How Medicines WorkB.The Challenges Facing the Production of Sublingual DrugsC.The Promotion of Sublingual Drugs in Developed CountriesD.Proteins in Different Natural Conditions Contribute to Innovation第二节 (共5小题; 每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。How Your Brain Deceives YouYour brain possesses some incredible abilities, from recalling conversations with close friends to tackling complex math problems with ease. But it is not that perfect and has some shortcomings. 36 , resulting in errors that could be bad for your life. However, you can avoid some of these errors by acquiring a better understanding of them37 . When trying to solve a problem or make a decision, your mind often falls back on solutions that have worked in the past instead of figuring out new ones. While using shortcuts can be a useful and effective approach, they can also trip you up and cause you to make mistakes. For example, maybe you’ re terrified of flying because you can think of several tragic, high-profile plane crashes. In reality, traveling by air is much safer than traveling by car. However, your brain is using a mental shortcut to fool you into believing flying is more dangerous than it is.Moreover, your brain might fail to detect significant changes occurring in your surroundings, a phenomenon referred to as change blindness. 38 , or it won’t be able to deal with different things at the same time. Seemingly not like a huge problem, it can have major consequences according to some research. For example, people who have jobs like air traffic control can make potentially disastrous errors as a result of change blindness.39 . In the process. we twist reality to protect our self-esteem (自尊) — in other words, we don’t want to admit it when we mess up. Why do we participate in the blame game Researchers believe it’s to safeguard our self-esteem and shield ourselves from the fear of failure. 40A.Your brain has to prioritize what it pays attention toB.From time to time, it may even overlook critical informationC.This realization can carry you through some unnecessary errorsD.One of the biggest shortcomings of your brain is that it can get lazyE.It goes without saying that your brain is incapable of processing all information at the same timeF.When adopting this way of thinking, we attribute negative outcomes to factors beyond our controlG.When something goes wrong, your brain instinctively seeks someone or something to hold responsible第三部分 语言运用 (共两节,满分30分)第一节 (共15小题; 每小题1分,满分15分)阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项I met Fred, a delicate stone worker, while he was building a rock wall. It was another boring day after school. I dragged my feet home as I sighed. Yet another uneventful day, I thought. Little did I know that the day would take a turn for the worse. The lift lobby (电梯间) of my flat was old and dirty. The walls, which were painted white, had been dirtied over many years. I reached my flat’s lobby, and pressed the lift button and went in. Just then, Mrs Lim, my elderly neighbour, hobbled (蹒跚) in. She looked ancient with tissue paper white hair, wearing a faded old-fashioned dress. I held the lift door open, flashing a friendly smile, and politely greeted her. I asked her how she felt that day and pressed the buttons. She thanked me for being so polite, then we were silent for the rest of the ride. The lift fell down increasingly fast. There were loud clanking sounds here and there while the lift grew slower and slower. My heart beat hard and fast as my hands turned cold and wet with sweat. Unfortunately, the lift came to an abrupt stop at the fifth floor. I pressed the buttons hard several times, but it was of no help. The lights on the buttons had gone out. It soon dawned on me that we were trapped. An icy fear crept up my spine. Mrs Lim was hysterical (歇斯底里).“We will never get out!” she cried with her face pale. It had become a colourless mask. I had no time to lose. I pressed the bell in the lift immediately. The sound was surely deafening, but what other choice did I have Mrs Lim burst into tears. I tried my very best to comfort her, telling her that everything would be all right and that we needed to find out how to get out safely. Mrs Lim began having trouble breathing, and I immediately helped her sit down and loosened her collar.Paragraph 1: Several minutes passed, but no help came._______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Paragraph 2: Bang! Earlier this week, we heard about Milton, the dog that traveled over three thousand miles to meet his family. When the Johnson family moved from California to New York, they couldn’t find their dog. And they were sad to leave him behind. About a month later, Milton showed up at their doorstep in New York. We cannot believe how far this dog traveled. The family will be doing an interview in the studio tomorrow morning. In other news, there has been an outbreak of car thefts in Orange County this week. About ten cars were stolen from outside their owner’s homes on Monday. If you see or hear anything, please call 911. About ten people found themselves stuck on a roller coaster after a breakdown at the Six Flags Theme Park on Tuesday in Union City. The victims swung upside down for around three minutes as staff worked to restart the roller coaster. Fortunately, no one was hurt. Six Flags has said that they checked their rides very seriously and that this was simply an unfortunate accident. That’s it for the news. When we come back from a commercial break, Michelle Smith will be here with the weather report.五:语法填空:56.for 57.symbolizing 58.are loved 59.thoroughly 60.To carve 61.Since/As 62.patience 63.decorative 64.a 65.themes66.应用文参考范文Dear Chris,I am Li Jin, a Chinese student studying at this university. Mrs Lim's condition was worsening, and I felt a sense of helplessness creeping over me. I tried to stay calm and think of a way out, but the situation seemed dire. The silence was deafening, broken only by Mrs Lim’s labored breathing and occasional sobs. Time seemed to stretch on endlessly as we waited for a miracle. Bang! My hopes were lifted when I heard the firefighters on the other side of the lift door. Relief flooded through me as I realized help had finally arrived. The sound of tools clanging against the door signaled their efforts to rescue us. Moments later, the door was pried open, and fresh air rushed in. We were safe. Mrs Lim was quickly attended to by the paramedics, and I was filled with gratitude for their swift response. As we were escorted out of the lift, I couldn’t help but feel a profound sense of appreciation for the fragility of life and the importance of helping others in times of need. 展开更多...... 收起↑ 资源列表 湖南省邵东市第一中学2026届高三上学期第二次月考英语听力.mp3 湖南省邵东市第一中学2026届高三上学期第二次月考英语试卷(含音频).docx
