When you think of the sea, you may not think of Xinjiang or Inner Mongolia. But recently, the “seafood” produced in these places has become popular, especially after Japan put nuclear-contaminated water (核污染水) into the sea, reported China Daily.
In Nilka county (尼勒克县) in Xinjiang, about 6,000 tons of rainbow trout (虹鳟鱼) will be produced this year. Rainbow trout belongs to (属于) the same family as salmon (鲑鱼), which is a kind of well-known seafood. It tastes like salmon too.
Why do farmers there choose to grow fish The weather in some parts of Xinjiang is seldom hot, and the rivers are fed by meltwater from the Tianshan Mountains. Water deeper than 6 meters always stays at 10℃. As the meltwater is very clean and cold, it’s a “comfortable” home for fish, Li Chunyu, a worker at a fish company in Xinjiang, told China Daily.
To make sure the river stays clean, the company uses machines to clean fish waste in the water. They also use net cages that are good for the environment. The nets are about 51 meters wide and lie 25 meters deep in the river.
At the same time, in Inner Mongolia, whiteleg shrimp (南美白对虾) grows well. Saline soil (盐碱土) covers a large part of the desert (沙漠) where few plants are able to grow. Farmers used to put water from the Yellow River onto the farmland to wash away the salt. This was a waste of salty water.
Scientists then decided to create “seawater” with the salty water by adding in some other components (成分). Whiteleg shrimps can live well in this kind of water. They taste no different from the same kind of shrimp that grows in the sea.
54. Rainbow trout live comfortably in ________.
A. any open water area B. warm and clean rivers
C. salty and warm water D. cold and clean rivers

③ grows one kind of fish once a year ④ cuts down the fish production (产量)
A ①② B. ③④ C. ①②③ D. ②③④
57.Why is white-leg shrimp introduced in the story
A . To show the importance of rivers to a country. B . To introduce the safety of eating seafood.
C . To compare it with common white-leg shrimp. D . To show another“seafood”grown without using the sea.
C
So you got jokes, huh Good. Having a good sense of humour is an important social skill. It makes making friends easier. And, it is also likely to help you become successful.
Funny people are more popular. It’s true. Think about it. Who do you make friends with It’s usually the people whom you have the most fun with and who make you laugh. Laughter plays a larger role in our lives than we realize. Funny people are easier to like because they make us happy by making us laugh.
Humour is a great tool for breaking the ice between people. When you meet someone that makes you laugh, you immediately begin to feel as if that person understands you. You feel that you share a similar sense of humour. And you’re eager to find out if you have more in common.
Humour creates an easy atmosphere (气氛)—an atmosphere that is easier to work in. If you talk about small mistakes in a funny way instead of being angry and serious, then people will be less afraid of making them and will be more relaxed and more creative. When a team of employees are happy, they are happier to work as well.
Being funny gives you more confidence. It allows you to feel more certain about yourself. If you know that you have the ability to make people laugh, then you are more likely to communicate with people. Being outgoing is one of the most important characteristics of successful people.
However, a bad joke will certainly kill the good atmosphere. So if you are going to be funny, then make sure you are actually funny.
58.According to the passage, whom do people usually make friends with
A.People who have a sense of humour. B.People who are always angry.
C.People who tell bad jokes. D.People who play jokes on others.
59.What is the third paragraph mainly talking about
A.Humour helps people become popular. B.Humour helps people build close relationships.
C.Humour helps people finish teamwork. D.Humour helps people relax and be creative.
60.The underlined word “eager” in Paragraph 3 probably means __________.
A.longing B.afraid C.upset D.angry
61.Which is the best title of the passage
A.How to make friends with others B.How to create an easy atomosphere(氛围)
C.The sense of humour, and success D.How to become a funny person
D
To learn to think is to learn to question. Those who don’t question never truly think for themselves. Advancements(进步) are made when thinkers start to question. Unfortunately, it is often the great and respected thinkers who end up slowing the progress of human thought.
Aristotle was an ancient Greek philosopher and scientist whose ideas explained much of the natural world, often incorrectly. He was so respected by the scientific community that even 1,200 years after his death, scientists were still trying to build upon his mistakes rather than correct them! Brilliant minds can make up and coming thinkers believe they are not as good as the minds of giants such as Aristotle, leading many to accept current ideas instead of questioning them.
I like many thinkers of the past, once believed in my mental weakness. I was certain that my parents, my teachers were always right. They were like a textbook to me; I didn’t question what was written on those pages. I respected them, and accepted whatever they told me. But that attitude soon changed. My mind’s independence was first developed in the classroom.
Astem, a 45-year-old science teacher, once told me that light is a type of wave. I confidently went through years of school believing that. One day, however, I heard the German exchange student mention that light could be made of particles(粒子). I started to question my beliefs. I went to the library, read about Einstein’s discovery that puzzles the world’s greatest thinkers—Light behaves as both a particle and a wave. I realized I had gone through life accepting only half of the story as the whole truth.
Each new year brought more new facts and I found myself in the library after school trying to find my own answers to gain a more complete understanding of what I thought I already knew. I discovered that my parents and teachers are good tools in my quest for knowledge, but they are never the final word. That’s how I developed my independent mind.
Questions are said to be the path to knowledge and truth, and I plan to continue questioning. How many things do we know for sure today that we will question in the future At this moment, I know that our sun will burn for another five billion years, and I know nothing can escape the gravity of a black hole. This knowledge, however, may change in the next 20 years — maybe even in the next two. The one thing we can control now is our openness to discovery, which is the key to making progress for human beings!
62. In this passage, Aristotle is taken as an example to show that ________.
A. he is the greatest and respected scientist of all
B. huge influence of great thinkers may stop human thought from developing
C. advancements are made when thinkers start to question
D. great thinkers make mistakes and then correct them
63. The underlined sentence in Paragraph 2 has an adverbial (状语)clause which expresses ________.
A. reason B. purpose C. result D. time
64. Which of the following best shows the structure of this passage
A. B. C. D.
65.What can be inferred from the last paragraph
A. The author is not quite sure about his future. B. We human beings are afraid of dreaming about the future.
C. The things about black holes will change in two years. D. Questioning is necessary to intellectual advancement.

五、阅读表达(共5小题;每小题2分,计10分)(每题答案不超过10个词)
A total of 23 spotted seals (斑海豹) were put back into the waters off the coast of Dalian in Northeast China’s Liaoning Province on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2023 as part of China’s continuous efforts to protect endangered wildlife.
The seals were hunted and sold, but have now been saved and marked for future protection. A fishery law enforcement ship arrived at the sea area near Dalian in the morning, carrying the spotted seals. The seals were let go free one by one into the sea. They swam freely in the water, returning to their natural home.
Spotted seals are nationally protected animals in China. They are the only kind of seals that can breed (繁殖) in Chinese waters. Like migratory (迁徙的) birds, they appear around October every year in Liaodong Bay, and take the long journey back to the Northwest Pacific in May after breeding. They are often considered as the “panda of the sea”.
Thanks to China’s top-class national protection in recent years, the population of spotted seals in Chinese waters has reached around 2,000, while the global population is between 400,000 and 600,000. Studies have shown that these 2,000 spotted seals are of great importance for the study and research on spotted seals.
To protect this rare animal and its ecological environment, the Liaoning Dalian Spotted Seal Wetlands were set up in 1992. In January 2002, they were included in the List of Wetlands of International Importance. Covering an area of 560,000 hectares with a coastline of about 370 kilometers, the wetlands are rich in biological resources. They have become home to nationally protected animals such as the spotted seal, finless porpoise, killer whales, false killer whales, common dolphins, bottlenose dolphins, and East Asian river dolphins.
Since 1992, researchers in Dalian have successfully saved 388 spotted seals and put 299 of them back into the wild.
76.Where were the 23 spotted seals put back into the sea
77.What is the other name of the spotted seal
78.With China’s protection, what has happened to the spotted seals in Chinese waters
