The sun is crucial（至关重要的） in our solar system. First, it is the center of the solar system, with all planets and objects orbiting（绕轨道运行） around it.
It also provides us with light and heat, which are necessary for life on Earth. The sun is extremely hot, with a surface temperature of about 5,500 degrees Celsius.
In size, its diameter is around 1.392 million kilometers. Its mass is about 1.989×10 kilograms, making up most of the solar system’s mass. The sun is about 4.5 billion years old and will shine for billions more years.
