Teacher's Activities Students' Activities Design Intent
Step 1: Greeting and Lead-in (5 minutes)1. Greet students warmly with "Hello, class" and have a simple daily conversation (e.g., asking about their weekend) to create a relaxed classroom atmosphere. Greet the teacher and engage in free talk. To build a positive teacher-student relationship initially, reduce students’ anxiety, and naturally introduce the topic of "holiday" through daily interaction.
Step 2: Presentation (8 minutes)1. Use PPT to show pictures of holiday activities in 1a. Introduce phrases like "took music lessons, visited my grandparents, went to a summer camp" by connecting with the images.2. Teach new words "ancient" and "amazing". Show pictures of ancient buildings (e.g., the Great Wall) and amazing scenery (e.g., Zhangjiajie) to illustrate meanings.3. Present key sentence patterns: "Where did... go on holiday / vacation " "How was... holiday ". Look at pictures and repeat phrases.Repeat new words after the teacher.Understand key sentence patterns. To present new language in a visual, contextual way. Images support comprehension, catering to visual learners and making vocabulary/structures easier to grasp.
Step 3: Listening Practice (10 minutes)1. Ask students to look at the activities in 1a first, then play the audio of 1b. After students finish the task, check answers together.2. Play the recording of 1b again and ask students to fill in the two blanks in plete the listening task and check answers.Fill in blanks while listening again. To train listening skills progressively: predict content via pictures first, then extract specific details. Replaying the audio gives more opportunities to catch details, improving comprehension gradually.
Step 4: Pair Work (7 minutes)1. Demonstrate a conversation about Yaming's and Emma's holidays:Q: "Where did Yaming go on holiday "Ss: "He went to Huangshan."2. Ask students to work in pairs and talk about Yaming's and Emma's holidays following the example. Listen to the demonstration and answer.Work in pairs to practice the conversation. To provide a clear model for speaking, reducing difficulty. Pair work encourages interaction and cooperation, giving every student a chance to use target language in a meaningful context.
Step 5: Pronunciation (5 minutes)1. Play the pronunciation practice audio. Show the classification of phonetic symbols (e.g., /i: /, / /, /i /) and explain them briefly.2. Play the audio again and ask students to repeat. Listen to the audio and repeat pronunciation. To help students recognize and practice different vowel sounds, improving pronunciation accuracy. Repeating after audio lets students imitate correct pronunciation and intonation.
Step 6: Listening and Speaking (5 minutes)1. Ask students to listen to vowels and words in the pronunciation exercise and repeat.2. Have students read in groups to discuss how letters (a, e, i, y) and letter combinations (ee, ea) are pronounced.3. Encourage students to brainstorm more words with these phonetic patterns and write them down.4. Let students listen to the rhythm practice audio (part 2), focus on rhythm, and repeat after it. Listen and repeat vowels/words.Read in groups and discuss pronunciation rules.Brainstorm and write new words.Listen to rhythm audio and repeat. To deepen understanding of pronunciation rules through group discussion and brainstorming (promoting collaborative learning). Focusing on rhythm helps develop a better sense of English pronunciation and speaking fluency.

教后反思
In this class, we focused on practicing past tense verb forms. To reinforce students’ understanding of the past tense, we used short passages and summaries, which helped most students solidify their knowledge. However, I noticed writing remains a challenge—many students still struggle to use past tense verbs correctly in written sentences. For future classes, I need to design more integrated activities combining listening, speaking, and writing, especially providing scaffolded writing tasks to support students in improving gradually. Also, I should offer extra guidance to individual students who find pronunciation difficult.
