1. 体裁特点：原来以书信、邮件为主，但2020年Ⅰ卷、Ⅱ卷及新高考卷采用了记叙文、新闻报道，2021年乙卷及新高考卷采用演讲稿和记叙文形式，体现考察形式的多样化，在备考中也要注意通知，倡议书甚至图画作文、说明文和议论文这样的写作体裁。
2. 命题形式：采用提纲式半开放命题形式，文字提示语较为简洁，给考生一定自由发挥空间。
3. 题材特点：与考生的学习和生活密切相关，突出多样性、实用性的特点。常涉及学习、日常活动、人际关系等，特别重视中国元素和传统文化。
