Bees have a well-organised social life. In a beehive(蜂房), the queen bee canlive for many years and lay about one thousand eggs daily. Female worker beesdo different jobs as they grow older. At first, young worker bees are "nurse beesThey take care of the young bees. Later, they become “forager bees(觅食蜂)”Then they go out to collect nectar(花蜜),pollen, water and gum(树胶).Bees can smell very weli. They can know the smell of their own hive. They can alsotell different flowers by their smell. This helps them find the best nectar and pollen.

A: Do you think people, plants, and animals are connected
B: Yes, I do! They need each other a lot. For example, plants make food with sunlight. Then animals like cows (牛) eat plants to grow.
A: Oh right! And people eat cows or plants for energy. That’s a good chain.
B: There’s another example. Bees (蜜蜂) drink nectar (花蜜) from flowers. They carry pollen (花粉) to help plants make seeds.
A: So plants can grow fruits and vegetables for us. And bees make honey (蜂蜜) that we eat too!
B: Exactly. If one part is hurt, others feel it. Like, no plants means hungry animals—and people won’t have enough food.
A: That’s true. We must protect all of them!
