Feeling fear is fun and exciting. Many people scare themselves on purpose.(1) When you step outside your comfort zone,it is fear that makes you feel alive, which is fun and exciting. The excitement generated can also help reduce depression by increasing adrenaline (肾上腺素),which in turn increases excitement and glucose (changed into energy).(2) A dose of fear is an "eraser" for the mind.

Fear makes you aware of what's really important in life. How often have you said to yourself: "When I have more time,I'll spend it with my family, pursue my passion, eat healthier or exercise more"?Fear makes you realize that "now" is the only time you have to achieve and follow through what is most important.

Our Unwelcome Guests
If you picnic in a Texas park, chances are that you'll encounter fire ants﹣﹣a troublesome pest renowned for their painful and irritating stings.(1) Across the world, from the vast landscapes of Texas to the exotic shores in China, non﹣ native animals, plants, bacteria and viruses are damaging economies and ecosystems.
An invasive species is any kind of living thing that is foreign to a particular ecosystem and causes harm.Sometimes non﹣ native species are imported unintentionally, like in the 1930s when cargo ships from South America accidentally took fire ants to North America.(2) For instance, certain Asian fish species, originally imported from China to clean fish farms in the U.S.,escaped and entered local rivers.Similarly, green iguanas were brought to China as pets, but some irresponsible owners released them into the wild.(3)
The worldwide economic impact of introduced species is enormous.According to U.S.government estimates, invasive species cost the American economy over $120 billion annually.(4) Besides, invasive species have the potential to destroy their new habitats by upsetting the local ecosystems. They often lack natural predators(掠食者) in their new environment and out﹣ compete native species for food and other resources.(5) In Florida, for instance, pythons have reduced some regional mammal populations by 90 percent.Additionally,Invasive species can also carry diseases against which local species have no natural defense, resulting in the extinction of an entire native species.

Don't be afraid to be confused.
We get it:it's hard to power through confusion. It doesn't feel great when a book makes you feel confused.Every reader has to start somewhere.(2) .Instead,be proud of yourself for trying, and get excited about all the new things you'll learn.
Research,research,research.
(3) .Researching the author and the time and place they were writing about can help you situate yourself during tricky passages. The author's experience, viewpoint, and historical context might help you make the connections you might not have otherwise.
(4) .
This step is self﹣ explanatory (不释自明的).While it's not hard to just pick a book up,we know how difficult it can be to convince yourself to do so.Remind yourself that it's a new learning chance.Take a deep breath, then leap onto the deck (甲板) of Melville's Pequod or step cautiously through the gates of Castle Dracula.
Remember:there is no right answer.
There is no perfect way to read a classic text. There is no fixed interpretation and no exact answer.Your goal as a reader is to discover what aspects are meaningful to you.Just enjoy the process.(5) .Even if your interpretation of the work isn't perfect,it's still valuable.

(2) She developed it primarily as a creative planning tool for her writing projects and goals.Although originally targeted at writers, this technique can be used by anyone to complete any project in a fun and creative way.

Now,imagine you're new to journaling.By setting aside five minutes out of your day,you could write one word in your notebook that sums up a feeling or an experience. How to Help Teens Find Their Purpose
As adults,we understand that finding purpose in life may not be a simple, straightforward process.Be patient with teens as they walk this journey of discovering their purpose. (1) The followings are some ways to help them.
Ask "why" questions.Psychologists suggest that helping our teens find purpose begins with asking "why" questions of them. These open﹣ended questions can help them explore their feelings and beliefs about different experiences. (2)
Uncover their interests. As parents, most of us probably have a good sense of our children's interests. (3) If we dig a little deeper beyond the surface﹣level interest,we might discover some insight into their passions and purpose.Be a careful observer and pay attention to the activities that really "light up" your teen.
Allow for trying and failing.Of course,we don't like to see our teens not succeed at something they try. (4) By allowing teens to take greater ownership over the activities they'd like to try,we provide them with a pathway to discovering a sense of meaning for them, not just doing things to live up to the expectations of others.
(5) Although our teens hopefully value our input and guidance, sometimes the voice of another caring adult can play a big role in helping them discover their purpose.Encourage your teen to form relationships with other adults who can serve as positive role models or mentors.
A.Find positive role models.

The rise of social media has revolutionized human connectivity, but its overuse can make people feel increasingly unhappy and isolated.(1)
One significant problem with frequent social media use is comparing ourselves to others. Many individuals experience "Facebook envy".(2) Gradually,it may result in self﹣doubt. To boost self﹣confidence,it is essential to reduce time on others' profiles, and focus on self﹣reflection.
Social media can also make it hard to form real friendships.Constant online interaction may make us feel lonely and left out when we see others having fun online.Stina Sanders,a former model, explained"When I see my friend's photos of a party I didn't go to,it can make me feel quite lonely and anxious".(3)
Quality sleep is essential for mental health, but excessive phone use before bedtime can severely disturb it.The anxiety and envy induced by social media content can keep our brains alert, making it challenging to fall asleep.(4) Avoiding the phone for at least 40 minutes to an hour before bed can improve sleep.
(5) However,it can also change the way we recall our life.If we direct all of our attention trying to take the perfect photo, less will be available to enjoy other aspects of the experience in real time,"said Dr.Bono.To decrease these effects, practicing self﹣discipline and limiting phone use can help us to stay focused and clear﹣minded.

What exactly is a nervous breakdown? Dr.David A.Merrill,a neurologist and psychiatrist, further explains the condition, "You feel like you are reaching a breaking point." It generally describes the feeling of being under long﹣term stress
In the short term, stress can increase your brainpower by releasing hormones that improve memory storage and improve concentration. But in the long term, long﹣time stress makes it difficult to block out distractions from outside. It affects your ability to focus on projects at hand
Do you reach for a cup of ice cream or a packet of cookies after a long day? There's a good reason for that. 以及后文including adrenaline (肾上腺素),which energizes your muscles for a "fight or flight" response.Once the adrenaline disappears and no longer has any effect, cortisol tells the body to replenish (补充) its lost energy stores with food. Stress causes the brain to release hormones
Skipping basic daily practices can signal you are having a period of depression or an emotional breakdown. You don't shower or brush your teeth as usual. You spend little or no time on your clothing or hair style.Stress puts burdens on the mind and body, leading to tiredness and indifference, which can cause a loss of happiness or lack of motivation for activities you used to enjoy. You stop caring about how you look 故选A项。
Have you ever looked at someone and thought, "That person looks depressed?" We communicate a lot through our posture and non﹣verbal gestures, including our mental state. 可知,本段主要讲述可以通过一个人的姿态来判断他是否压力大,根据后文when people adopt a "protective position"—arms crossed, slouching,or facing away. It shows they are feeling very stressed and defensive

Riding elephants, holding monkeys, and taking photos with little lion might seem fun,but these animals might have been caught from the wild and aren't being properly cared for.Avoid these activities on vacation unless you know the group is trustworthy and not treating animals cruelly.(骑大象,抱猴子,和小狮子合影可能看起来很有趣,但这些动物可能是从野外捕获的,没有得到适当的照顾。
Some people are afraid of animals like wolves, sharks, and bats and try to harm them. Because they keep their habitats healthy. So tell everyone how amazing they are.(因为它们保持栖息地的健康。
You can also talk to your parents about turning off the lights at their high﹣rise offices.(你也可以告诉你的父母,把他们高层办公室的灯关掉。)
根据下文Bring binoculars(望远镜) on an outdoor adventure to enjoy wildlife from afar.(带上双筒望远镜来一次户外冒险,从远处欣赏野生动物。) 故选A。

Overtourism Is For Real:How Can You Help?
Travel promotes understanding, expands our minds, makes us better people, and boosts local economies and communities, but the rapid growth of travel has led to overtourism in certain regions and destinations.(1) B Certainly not.The loss of what travel offers would be unacceptable in today's world. Here are some tips on making wise decisions to minimize pressure on the places we visit and improve our experience.
● Choose mindfully.Overvisited destinations are that way for a reason:they're special. With so many online posts featuring the same places,it's easy to feel like you're missing out.Go somewhere only when the landscape, culture or food deeply draws you.(2) C
● Get creative. The best way to ease pressure on overtouristed destinations is to go somewhere else.Though overtourism is described as a problem affecting the entire world,it's actually concentrated to a small number of extremely popular spots. That means you have tons of less﹣visited options to choose from.(3) E Why not try a regional alternative or check out a popular destination's lesser﹣known sights?
●(4) A Minimize impact and maximize experience by skipping major holidays or rush hour. You'll compete with fewer tourists, save money, experience a different side of a popular place, and boost the economy when tourism is traditionally slower.
Visiting a place that others call home is a privilege (荣幸).Do your part to preserve what makes a destination special in the first place.(5) G You may be amazed how much closer you'll feel to the people there.
A.Visit during off﹣peak times.
B.So,should we stop traveling?
C.Travel for you and no one else.
D.Can overtourism be avoided then?
E.You can still find relatively undiscovered places.
F.You'll find yourself virtually alone,or close to it.

The loss of what travel offers would be unacceptable in today's world.(在当今世界,失去旅游所提供的东西是不可接受的。)
With so many online posts featuring the same places,it's easy to feel like you're missing out.Go somewhere only when the landscape, culture or food deeply draws you.(网上有这么多关于同一地点的帖子,很容易让人觉得自己错过了什么。
That means you have tons of less﹣visited options to choose from.(这意味着你有很多很少有人光顾的地方可以选择。) Why not try a regional alternative or check out a popular destination's lesser﹣known sights?(为什么不尝试一个地区性的选择,或者看看一个热门目的地不太为人所知的景点呢?)
Minimize impact and maximize experience by skipping major holidays or rush hour.(避开主要节假日或高峰时段,将影响最小化,体验最大化。)
Do your part to preserve what makes a destination special in the first place.(首先,尽你的一份力量来保护这个目的地的特别之处。) You may be amazed how much closer you'll feel to the people there.(你可能会惊讶地发现你和那里的人是多么的亲近。)
