The Snipe and the Clam Fighting Each Other
On this day, the weather by the sea was especially nice—the sun was shining brightly, making the beach warm and cozy. A gentle breeze blew over the sea from time to time, bringing a faint cool and refreshing feeling.
The clam couldn’t stay still either. It crawled from the shallow water to the beach, opened its shell relaxed, and enjoyed the rare beautiful sunshine. It bathed in the warm sun leisurely, completely forgetting the dangers that might appear around it at any time.
A snipe saw this and thought: *This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance! Usually, when I want to eat clam meat, its hard shell always stops me.* The snipe felt secretly happy. It flew over like an arrow, quickly stuck its long beak into the clam’s shell to peck at the meat.
The clam got nervous and instinctively closed its two shells tightly at once. Now, the snipe’s beak was clamped tightly— it couldn’t move at all.
However, the snipe wasn’t in a hurry at all. It even said to the clam with a bit of schadenfreude: “Haha! If it doesn’t rain today and doesn’t rain tomorrow, you’ll become a dead clam in a few days!”
The clam wasn’t frightened by the snipe’s threat. It fought back: “I won’t let you go today, and I won’t let you go tomorrow. In a few days, you’ll become a dead snipe! Let’s see who can hold out longer!” After speaking, it even wanted to laugh loudly.
But before it could open its mouth, a fisherman came over. He threw both of them into his fish basket in one go.
Moral
The snipe and the clam quarreled and fought fiercely. In the end, both were harmed, and the fisherman gained the benefit. From another angle, this story tells us that when facing danger, the weak should unite as one, work together to find ways to get out of trouble. We must not argue endlessly and refuse to give in to each other for personal interests. This will only give others a chance to take advantage, and finally, both sides will suffer losses.

On a nice day by the sea, a clam crawled from shallow water to the beach[1], bathed in the warm sun[2], and forgot the dangers around it. A snipe saw this as a once-in-a-lifetime chance[3]—it flew over like an arrow[4] and stuck its beak into the clam’s shell.
The clam got nervous and closed its shell tightly at once[5], clamping the snipe’s beak. The snipe wasn’t in a hurry and threatened the clam, while the clam fought back[6] bravely. Before the clam could laugh, a fisherman came over and threw both of them into his fish basket in one go[7].
This story tells us: When facing danger, the weak should unite as one[8] instead of arguing endlessly[9]. Otherwise, others will take advantage, and both sides will suffer losses[10].
