Thank you
More than delighted to know that you are keen on Chinese sports idioms, I am writing this letter to introduce one of the famous idioms to you—Wen Ji Qi Wu.
In the Western Jin Dynasty there were two young men—Zu Ti and Liu Kun, both of whom were fond of practising martial arts in order to make remarkable contributions to the country. One day, there came the crow of rooster in the wasteland. Zu Ti jumped up, kicked Liu Kun awake and asked him to get up to practise sword. From then on, they began practising every day upon hearing the first crow in the morning. Hence came the idiom Wen Ji Qi Wu which is used to describe someone who is very hardworking and committed.
Practicing sword is challenging and so is study. Hope this idiom will encourage you and you are sure to learn Chinese better!
