On September 10, 2025, Luo Yonghao, a famous live-streaming host, posted on social media that the food at Xibei restaurants was “mostly pre-made, expensive, and tasted bad.” The next day, Jia Guolong, the founder of Xibei, replied strongly, “Xibei is certainly not a pre-made food company.” He also said he would take legal action against Luo and open all Xibei kitchens to the public.
According to national standards, pre-made meals must be pre-processed in factories, pre-packaged, heated before eating, and must not include preservatives (防腐剂). Jia explained that Xibei only does “pre-processing” — ingredients are washed and cut in a central kitchen, but the actual cooking is done in each store.
However, many people still doubt Xibei’s food. Luo pointed out that the dishes tasted “reheated” and were short of the fresh taste of pot cooking. He also questioned why the food was still so expensive though it wasn't freshly made.
A survey showed that 86% of people think the real problem is not pre-made meals themselves, but whether restaurants are honest about it. Most people support rules that require restaurants to mark pre-made meals clearly. They agree that while pre-made meals can be convenient, their price should be much lower than freshly made dishes. Customers should be informed about how their food is prepared and be able to make their own choices.
44.When did Luo Yonghao criticize Xibei’s food
A. On October 1, 2025. B. On October 15, 2025.
C. On September 10, 2025. D. On September 11, 2025.
45. Why did Jia Guolong say he would open all Xibei kitchens
A. To let customers help cook the food.
B. To make customers pay more for food.
C. To show Xibei uses many preservatives.
D. To prove Xibei not a pre-made food company.
46. According to the survey, what did 86% of people think was the real problem
A. Whether pre-made meals are not delicious.
B. Whether restaurants have no central kitchens.
C. Whether pre-made meals are too cheap for customers.
D. Whether restaurants tell the truth about pre-made meals.
47. What is the main idea of the passage
A. The argument on pre-made food. B. How Xibei makes pre-made meals.
C. A survey about people’s favorite food. D. Luo Yonghao’s job as a live-streaming host.

The Amazing World of Colors: More Than Meets the Eye
Have you ever wondered why the sky is blue or why a stop sign is red Colors are everywhere, and they play a much more important role in our lives than we might think. They are not just for making things look beautiful; they are a powerful form of communication and can even influence our feelings and actions.
Scientifically, color is how our eyes and brain work when we meet different wavelengths of light. When light hits an object, the object absorbs (吸收) some and reflects others. The reflected light is what we see as color. For example, a green leaf looks green because it reflects green light and absorbs other colors.
Colors can influence our moods. Studies have shown that blue often has a calming effect, which is why it is often used in bedrooms. However, red can make people feel more energetic or even hungry, which is why many fast-food restaurants use it in their logos. Yellow is usually associated with happiness and warmth.
What’s more, color is important for safety. Bright colors like orange and yellow are used for warning signs because they are easily seen, especially in low light. This helps prevent accidents.
Animals also use color for survival. Some butterflies have colorful wings to attract mates, while others have patterns that help them hide from enemies. The natural world is full of these amazing examples.
In a word, color is a fantastic part of our world. By paying more attention to colors, we can better understand the world around us.

A. For survival. B. To read warning signs.
C. To change their moods. D. To communicate with humans.

Inside the hall, the door was closed, and the key lay on the glass stand. Poor Alice, who was about one foot high after taking some drink, found a cake on the floor. She went up and soon ate all the cake.
“How strange! How tall I am!” said Alice. She looked down at her feet—they seemed so far off. In fact, she was now over nine feet high, which meant she still couldn’t get through the door. She sat down, and had a good cry till there was a large pool all round her.

Then she noticed herself in the glass—she was now not more than two feet high, and still shrinking quite fast. That was the fan! She realized this and dropped it at once, or she would shrink to the size of an ant soon.
Alice was in a sad fear at the quick change. “Things are worse,” said the poor girl, “I was never so small as this. How can I get out ” As she said these words, she lost her footsteps and was up to her chin (下巴) in salt water—her own tears.
Just then Alice noticed a mouse swimming towards her.
“Will it be useful now to speak to this mouse All things are so strange here. I should think maybe it can talk. At least there’s no harm to try.” So she swam up.

One recent weekend, I decided to learn how to make jiaozi with my grandmother. I thought it would be fun and easy at the very beginning, but soon it came to me that it wasn’t as simple as it looked.
At first, I didn’t pay attention to the sharp (锋利的) knife while cutting vegetables. My finger got cut because of my carelessness. Luckily, it wasn’t serious. Grandma was nervous, and quickly helped me clean the cut. “My poor little girl! Be careful next time!” said Grandma softly. Through the painful lesson, I learned the hard way that safety should always come first.
After that accident, I continued working with Grandma. We made the dough (面团), mixed the filling, and started shaping the dumplings. However, I kept making mistakes. Some of my dumplings were too thick, others were not properly sealed (封闭), and some even had too much filling, making them difficult to close. It was so discouraging, but Grandma kept encouraging me.
Until noon, we had a plate full of dumplings—some are perfect, and some are a bit messy. Dad ate my ugliest dumpling first. “Tastes better than it looks!” he laughed. Mom encouraged me, “They’re the most delicious dumplings I have ever had. I am so proud of you!”
Now I understand that making jiaozi isn’t just about the final product; it is about learning patience, having fun with my family, and improving through mistakes. Mistakes aren’t signs of weakness. Instead, they should be viewed (看待) as stepping stones to achievements.
