imagine意为“想象”,后可接名词、代词或动词-ing形式作宾语。mean a lot to sb. 表示“对某人意义重大”。

引导时间状语从句,从句谓语动词须用延续性动词。它强调主句的动作是在从句动作发生的过程中发生的,或者主从句的动作几乎同时进行。

not与every及含有every的不定代词连用时表示部分否定,意为“并不是每个……都”。

1. -ance
规则:通常加在动词后面 ,构成抽象名词表示行为、状态、性质等 。
e.g. perform(v.表演;执行 )→ performance(n.表演;表现 )
appear(v.出现;显得 )→ appearance(n.出现;外貌 )

2. -(t)ion
规则:通常加在动词后,构成名词表示行为、过程或结果。
e.g. educate(v.教育 )→ education(n.教育 )
decide(v.决定 )→decision(n.决定 )
imagine(v. 想象 )→ imagination(n. 想象力)
3. -ness
规则:通常加在形容词后,构成抽象名词表示形容词所描述的性质、状态。
e.g. happy(adj.幸福的;快乐的 )→ happiness(n.幸福;快乐 )
kind(adj.善良的 )→ kindness(n.善良;仁慈 )
4. -ity
规则:通常加在形容词后,(部分词需对词尾做适当变化 , 如去掉
不发音 -e 等),构成名词,表示具有某种特性。
e.g. active(adj.积极的 )→ activity(n.活动;活跃 )
possible(adj.可能的 ) → possibility(n.可能性 )

一般不用于进行时。
由“disappoint (v. 使失望;使破灭) + -ed(后缀)”构成。

in order to 为了;以便 表示目的,后接动词原形,可放在句首或句中,其否定形式为in order not to。
