It was Aunt Wang from next door—she was holding two big bottles of water and a bag of bread. “I thought you might need these,” she said, handing the things to my mom. “My son and I walked to the supermarket this morning; we bought extra for everyone in the building.”
Soon, more neighbors joined in. Uncle Zhang used his boat to take old people to the nearby clinic for medicine. Some kids helped pick up the fallen branches in the yard. My dad and I joined them too—we carried the branches to the trash area and cleaned the shared hallway. By evening, the power came back on. We all sat in the community square, sharing snacks and talking about the day. No one complained about the disaster; instead, everyone talked about how lucky we were to have such good neighbors.
That day taught me that disasters can destroy houses, but they can never break the warmth between people. A little help from others can make a big difference, and that’s the most precious thing I’ve learned.
暴雨后的温暖一天
上个月，一场特大暴雨让我们小区一片狼藉：道路被淹，一些住户停了电。我和家人待在家里，担心接下来该怎么办。但邻居们一个小小的善举，把艰难的一天变成了温暖的回忆。

Thanks for asking about the rainstorm. There’s one touching thing I’ll never forget.
During the storm, an old man fell in the water. A young volunteer saw it, jumped in without thinking, and carried him to the sidewalk. He then took off his coat to cover the old man and called for help. The rain was heavy, but his eyes were full of courage.
This made me feel warm and moved. It showed me how kind people can be in hard times.
