Answer the questions (根据短文内容回答下列问题)
In 1961, when I was in the fifth grade and struggling with poor school grades, I didn’t care much about it at the time. My older brother and I lived with our mother in a not-so-nice apartment in Detroit. Every night, we would just watch TV.
But one day, Mom changed our world forever. She turned off the TV. As a cleaner, our mother had only been able to get through third grade, but she was much brighter and smarter than we boys knew at the time. She cleaned houses in suburbs. She began to notice the difference education made in the lives of others. It was then that she realized the importance of reading. So she came home one day, switched off the TV, sat us down and explained that her sons were going to make something of themselves. “You boys are going to read three books every week.”
We complained and thought it was too much. We didn’t even have books at home, but Mom said we would go to the library together. I felt unsure as I walked through the children’s section. I loved animals, so I picked up a book about beavers (河狸) called Chip the Dam Builder. It was amazing! I was in a different world! No TV show had ever taken me away from my environment like this book did.
Soon, I began to look forward to escaping to this quiet paradise from my other world. I read about animals, then moved on to plants, and finally rocks. Each book caught my interest, and I could travel anywhere through the pages. So I couldn’t wait to go there again to continue reading.
Now, my older brother is an engineer and I am chief of pediatric neurosurgery (儿童神经外科) at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center in Baltimore. Sometimes, I can’t believe how far I’ve come from a struggling student to a doctor and who teaches and performs important surgeries around the world. But I know my journey began when ________ and ________. (6)

Dear Mr. Wang,
My name is Li Hua and I am in Grade 7. After reading the two plans for our autumn outing, I would like to choose the visit to the Science Museum on Wednesday.
First, I am very interested in aerospace knowledge. Seeing real satellites and rockets will help me understand what we have learned in physics class. Second, making a paper spaceship with my classmates will improve my hands-on skills and teamwork. Finally, the museum is only 20 minutes away by bus, so we can save time and stay safe. I believe this trip will be both educational and exciting.
Thank you for reading my email.
Yours
Li Hua
