On school days, most students follow a regular routine, and it’s no different for those living near their school. Every weekday morning, the alarm goes off around 6:30. After washing up and having a simple breakfast—usually bread and milk, sometimes with a piece of fruit—students grab their schoolbags and head out. Since the school is close, they walk there, which takes about 10 minutes. Along the way, they might meet classmates and chat about the day’s lessons, like whether the math homework was hard or if there will be a biology quiz.
School starts at 8:00 sharp. Mornings have four classes, with English often being the first one. Many students like this class because they hope to tell interesting stories in English someday—their teacher sometimes lets them share short English stories in class, which makes it even more fun. At noon, everyone goes to the school dining hall for lunch; the meals there are not fancy, but they’re warm and filling, and students often sit together to talk about their favorite subjects or weekend plans.
Afternoon classes end at 4:00, and some students stay to play basketball on the playground for a while before going home—they usually play for 20 to 30 minutes, just enough to relax after a day of studying. Once home, they first finish their homework, and only then do they have time to relax, like reading a comic book or listening to music. Watching TV is rare on weekdays, as they usually go to bed by 9:00 to get ready for the next school day.
21. How do students go to school
A. By bus B. On foot C. By bike D. By car
22. Why do many students like English class
A. Because English is very easy
B. Because they want to tell stories in English
C. Because their English teacher is kind
D. Because they like English songs best
23. What do students usually do first after getting home
A. Watch TV to relax B. Play with friends outside
C. Finish their homework D. Help parents with housework
B
City parks are busy but lovely places where people can relax and enjoy nature, even in the middle of a noisy city. Every morning, as soon as the sun comes up, the park starts to fill with people doing different things. Some walk slowly with their dogs—their pets pull a little on the leash, excited to smell the grass and meet other dogs. Others gather in small groups to do morning exercises like tai chi; they move slowly and smoothly, following the leader’s steps. A few people bring folding chairs and books, sitting under big, leafy trees to read quietly before going to work or school.
Most city parks have small, calm lakes in the center. On sunny afternoons, the lake becomes a favorite spot for kids. They stand by the lake’s edge, holding pieces of bread in their hands, and feed the ducks that swim over. But parents always remind them not to give the ducks too much bread—too much can make the ducks sick, and it might also make the lake water dirty. Near the lake, there are usually playgrounds with colorful slides, swings, and climbing frames. Little children run around, laughing as they slide down or swing high, while parents sit on nearby benches. They watch their kids play, sometimes chatting with other parents about their children’s hobbies or school life.
In the evening, as the sun sets, the park gets quieter. The number of people drops, and the only sounds are the wind blowing through the trees and birds singing before they go back to their nests. Some people still come—maybe to take a short walk after dinner, or just to sit on a bench and enjoy the cool air. No matter what time of day you visit, a city park always has something nice to offer, making it a special place for everyone.
24. What do people NOT usually do in city parks in the morning
A. Walk dogs B. Do tai chi C. Feed ducks D. Read books
25. Why do parents remind kids not to give ducks too much bread
A. The bread is not healthy for ducks and may dirty the lake
B. Too much bread will make ducks too heavy to swim
C. There are not enough benches for kids to sit and feed ducks
D. Other animals in the park also need the bread
26. Who likes playing on the slides and swings in the park
A. Old people B. Little children C. Parents D. Dog owners
27. When does the park become quieter
A. In the morning B. At noon C. In the evening D. At night
28. What can we know from the passage
A. City parks are only busy in the morning
B. Kids can feed ducks as much bread as they want
C. Parents often chat while watching their kids play
D. There are no lakes in most city parks

Growing small plants at home is a fun and easy hobby that anyone can try—you don’t need to be good at gardening, and you don’t need a big garden. All you need are some small pots (plastic or clay ones work well), a bag of soft soil, and a few simple seeds. Sunflower seeds, tomato seeds, or even bean seeds are great choices for beginners because they grow quickly and easily.
First, take your pot and fill it about three-quarters full with soil. Gently pat the soil with your fingers to make it flat, but don’t press too hard—plants need loose soil to grow. Then, use your finger to make a small hole in the center of the soil; the hole should be about 1 centimeter deep. Put 2 or 3 seeds into the hole—this way, if one seed doesn’t grow, the others might still sprout. Next, cover the hole with a little more soil, and water the pot slowly with a small cup. Make sure the soil gets wet, but don’t pour too much water—you don’t want the soil to be soaking wet.
After planting, put the pot near a window where it can get plenty of sunlight. Most plants need 4 to 6 hours of sunlight every day to grow strong. Remember to water the plant once a day, but again, be careful not to overwater it. If the top of the soil feels dry to the touch, it’s time to water. After about a week, you’ll see a tiny green shoot pushing up through the soil—this is the first sign that your plant is growing! As the weeks go by, the shoot will get taller, and soon it will grow leaves. If the plant gets too big for the small pot, you can move it to a bigger one to give its roots more space.
Watching the plant grow day by day is really exciting. You’ll notice new leaves popping out, and you’ll feel proud to see how much it changes each week. This hobby also teaches you to be patient—good things, like a small seed growing into a tall plant, take time. Plus, when your plant blooms (like sunflowers) or grows fruit (like tomatoes), you’ll get to enjoy the fruits of your hard work!
29. What do you NOT need to grow small plants at home
A. Small pots B. Soil C. Seeds D. A big garden
30. How deep should the small hole for seeds be
A. About 1 centimeter B. About 5 centimeters C. About 10 centimeters D. About 15 centimeters
31. Why should you put the pot near a window
A. To let the plant get enough sunlight B. To keep the plant warm in winter
C. To protect the plant from small animals D. To make the pot easier to water
32. What does the hobby of growing small plants teach people
A. How to save water B. To be patient C. How to cook with tomatoes D. To be brave

Plants are our good friends. They give us oxygen (氧气) to breathe and many even give us food, like apples and tomatoes. But do you know how plants grow Let’s learn about their “growing secret” step by step.
First, a plant starts as a small seed. ______33______ For example, a sunflower seed needs warm soil, a little water and some sunlight to wake up. If these things are missing, the seed will stay asleep forever.
After the seed wakes up, it starts to grow roots (根). ______34______ They also take in water and important things from the soil to help the plant grow. You can’t see the roots because they grow under the ground!
Next, a small stem (茎) and a few leaves come out of the soil. ______35______ The stem carries water and those important things from the roots to the leaves. The leaves then use sunlight to make food for the whole plant—this is called “photosynthesis (光合作用)”.
As time goes on, the plant grows taller and stronger. ______36______ For example, a tomato plant will grow flowers first, and then the flowers turn into small green tomatoes. These tomatoes get bigger and redder as they take in more food from the plant.
Finally, when the fruit is ripe (成熟的), we can pick it and eat it. ______37______ And the cycle (循环) of growing a new plant starts again!
A. The roots grow down into the soil.
B. Some plants even grow flowers and fruit.
C. The seed needs special things to wake up.
D. Plants can’t live without water or sunlight.
E. The leaves are like “little factories” for the plant.
F. Inside each fruit, there are new seeds for future plants.
G. People often grow plants in gardens or on farms.

六、任务型阅读,阅读下面短文,根据短文内容回答问题。(每小题2分,共8分)
Do you know how much water a person needs every day A healthy person usually needs about 1.5 to 2 liters of water daily. But we don’t just drink water—we also get water from food. Fruits like watermelons and oranges have lots of water, and vegetables such as cucumbers and tomatoes are also high in water.
Why is water so important First, water helps our bodies work well. It carries important things to different parts of our body. Second, water helps us stay cool. When we exercise, we sweat (出汗), and sweat takes heat away from our bodies. Third, water helps us digest (消化) food. Without enough water, we may feel tired or have stomach problems.
But not all water is good for us. We should drink clean water, like boiled water or bottled water. We shouldn’t drink water from rivers or lakes directly, because it may have germs (细菌) that make us sick. Also, we shouldn’t drink too much water at one time—it’s better to drink a little water many times a day.
