Cassy's room was under it. One day, Cassy moved all her furniture to a room very far from it. When Legree asked why, she replied, “I can't sleep. There were noises in the attic, every night, from midnight until the morning."
"Noises in the attic " said Legree, worried, "Who is up there "
"I don't know," said Cassy and she went to her room.
Then she put things in the attic that made strange noises when the wind blew. The slaves(奴隶)heard them and started talking about ghosts, Legree became scared of passing near the stairs to the attic. Then one night Cassy and Emmeline ran away. They stayed near the house and waited. When Legree left to look for them with his slaves and dogs, Cassy and Emmeline went into the attic. Legree was angry when he came back and he was sure that Tom knew something. "Tom," said Legree, "tell me where those two are, or I will kill you. Speak!" "I have nothing to say," said Tom.
"Are you telling me that you don't know "
“I know, Master, but I can't tell you." Legree hit Tom and kicked him again and again, until he thought Tom was dead. Then he left.

Two days later, a young man arrived. He was George Shelby. When he received the letter from Miss Ophelia, he went looking for Tom to buy him back, but it took a long time to find him. Legree took George to see Tom. Tom was lying on the floor, waiting to die. When George saw him, he felt sick.
"Uncle Tom, my poor, poor friend!" Tom opened his eyes." Master George! You remembered me! It's going well," said Tom and then he closed his eyes forever. Very often, when we see young people sitting there, looking at the screen of a mobile phone and smiling, we may think nothing is wrong. But when we come to the question "How much time do they actually spend on media(传播媒介)daily?”, the answer is surprising: young people spend about nine hours every day using media, and this only includes media used for enjoyment.
Today's young people seem to have become crazy multi-taskers. They often use media when doing other activities. Some watch TV when doing homework, some text(发短信),and some others listen to music. But what do young people think of this A research showed that two thirds of them believed watching TV or texting had no influence on their schoolwork. Half of them thought using social media made no difference. However, researches have given a different answer: "media multi-taskers" did worse in tests.
Scientists did a research among more than 400 students. It shows that those who text a lot have more trouble sleeping and do worse in their study. In another research, students who didn't text during a lesson took down a lot more notes than those who were texting. A similar research also found that students who texted when doing schoolwork had lower grades. According to a research, if a kid uses social media a lot, especially at night, he or she will sleep worse and feel more nervous and depressed(消沉的).On the one hand, young people stay up late to check messages and information. They may also be woken up by messages they receive. On the other hand, even the light from a screen could influence their sleep. Some other researches also show that children who use media at night go to bed later, get fewer hours of sleep each week, and become sleepy more easily during the daytime.

Mark Twain is one of the most quoted writers ever. There are hundreds of his quotations(语录)on posters and websites. Here is an example:
"If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything."-Mark Twain
Quotations like this one give us guidance. It reminds us that telling a lie is much more difficult than telling the truth. Telling a lie means you have to remember what you said each time you tell the lie. If you tell the truth, there is nothing to remember. He suggests that you shouldn't lie not because it is wrong, but because it is hard work. Here is another example:
"Always obey your parents when they are present."-Mark Twain
Again, the quotation gives good advice to always obey your parents, but the humorous part is when they are present. The quotation tells you to obey your parents when they are there with you-because they can see what you are doing.
Albert Einstein's quotations are also popular. Many of his quotations are inspirational. This means that they help us to do our best and be the best person we can be. Here is an example:
"Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning."-Albert Einstein
This is a much more serious quotation than the two Mark Twain ones. It gives us a lot to think about. Also, because this was said by Albert Einstein, it makes us want to take the quotation serious. This quotation gives us hope that we can learn from any mistake we made yesterday .It reminds us to always look closely at everything we do and ask the right questions to help us achieve our best.
83. Who is Mark Twain
84. What can we get from Mark Twain's quotations
85. What does the writer think of Albert Einstein's quotations
86. Did Albert Einstein agree that people should learn from mistakes
87. Which quotation do you like best, Mark Twain's or Albert Einstein's Why
