Since the first man looked up at the flying birds , countless successes have been achieved on the way up to the sky. From the stones thrown into the air to airships of all kinds , pioneers of humans never failed to let their imagination run wild.
Stories of them go back to centuries ago.
Kite flying in China dates back to the 5th century BC and is thought to be the earliest example of man-made flight.
From the Han Dynasty , the sky lantern was known in China. Many people believe that it was invented by Zhuge Liang in the war. Some say he wrote a message on a sky lantern for help , while others believe sky lanterns were used to drive the enemies away.
Whichever is true ,humans have never stopped , and they never will. In modern times , new fields are being explored(探索).
In 1993 , the world’s largest hot air airship was built. The AS-300 carried an underslung raft(悬挂式木筏). It allowed a team of French scientists to carry out their treetop researches without too much harm to the rainforest.
On May 15 , 2022 ,Chinese scientists sent up the latest model of “Jimu No.1 ”,
China’s self-developed airship , to collect weather information on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.

Improvements in technology often happen overnight. Some gadgets get smaller and faster.Others are replaced(代替) by newer things like smartphones. They can do hundreds of things. Here are some old gadgets that people used to use.

Do you have a landline at home? It’s a phone that people plug(插入) into their living room walls.Mobile phones didn’t use to be so common at that time ,so most
families had a landline. But landlines only worked at home. What did people do when they were outside and needed to call someone? They looked for a pay phone! Then ,most people had their own mobile phones and many homes no longer had landlines.

People today store plenty of information online ,or on SD cards. But in
the 1980s and 1990s ,people used to use floppy disks. The first floppy disks
were large ,expensive ,and not very useful—each disk could store just 175
KB of information! Later ,floppy disks got smaller and better. But even the best ones
could only hold 1.44 MB. You would need three or four disks just for one song ,and about 22 ,000 disks to match the storage(储存空间) available on a 32 GB phone!

It’s easy to take photos today.People often have thousands of photos just
on their phones! But photos used to be expensive ,and people took fewer of
them.To take a photo ,you had to buy a roll of film. This allowed you to take
about 30 photos. After finishing the roll ,you left it at a shop. The shop developed the photos to make them be seen ,which you could collect after a few days.
Technology changes all the time ,and the gadgets we use today will one day be old. What do you think will be the next to disappear?
( B )55.The underlined word “gadgets ” in Paragraph 1 means “ ”.
A. toys B. tools C. games
( B )56. Match the title with each paragraph.
a.Goodbye Disks b.Music to My Ears c.Picture This
d.Call Me e.Film Development
A. ①-d ,②-b ,③-e
B. ①-d ,②-a ,③-c
C. ①-c ,②-a ,③-b
( C )57. What can we get from the text?
A. It was convenient to take photos with film.
B. People outside used landlines to call someone.
C. Improvements in technology change people’s life.
( C )58. What would be the best title for the text?
A. The Products of Tomorrow
B. Old Things We Use Today
C. The Things We Used to Use

第三节(共5个小题;每小题2分,满分10分)

China is racing ahead in 5G. The Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station has become the world’s first “5G railway station ”.Now it takes only 20 seconds to download(下载) a long movie there.
We are moving closer and closer to the 5G world. However ,the new technology is still strange to most ofus. What is 5G after all?The first feature of 5G is obvious—it is fast.5G will not only be faster than the current 4G networks ,it will also be much faster than the broadband connection we have at home!
The first 5G modem(调制解调器) of the IT company Qualcomm supports speed of up to 5 gigabytes(千兆字节) per second. Most ofus have never experienced anything close to that speed. And we are only talking about the first generation of 5G modems.Future modems are likely to be even faster.
But 5G is not all about speed.Have you ever been to a large event where your data connection slowed down? That is because 4G networks can only support a certain number of devices per square kilometer.5G networks will be able to do much better. They can support up to a million devices per square kilometer. Now ,you begin to understand why 5G is a huge upgrade over 4G. The technology is not just for the smartphone. It also has a strong influence on every connected device. With 5G ,self-driving(无人驾驶) cars will be able to communicate with the world around them as quickly as possible. These cars will be completely independent.Wearables ,PCs(个人电脑) and smart home appliances (智能家电) will be able to improve as well.
64. According to the text , we can spend only 20 seconds downloading a long movie with 5G.
65. The future modems are likely to be (even) faster/quicker in the world.
66.5G networks can support more devices per square kilometer than 4G networks do.
67. Self-driving cars can communicate with the world around them as quickly as they can with 5G.

Since the first man looked up at the flying birds, countless successes have been
achieved on the way up to the sky. From the stones thrown into the air to airships of all
kinds, pioneers of humans never failed to let their imagination run wild.
Stories of them go back to centuries ago.
Kite flying in China dates back to the 5th century BC and is thought to be the earliest
example of man-made flight.
From the Han Dynasty, the sky lantern was known in China. Many people believe
that it was invented by Zhuge Liang in the war. Some say he wrote a message on a sky
lantern for help, while others believe sky lanterns were used to drive the enemies away.
Whichever is true, humans have never stopped, and they never will. In modern
times, new fields are being explored(探索).
In 1993, the world’s largest hot air airship was built. The AS-300 carried an
underslung raft(悬挂式木筏). It allowed a team of French scientists to carry out their
treetop researches without too much harm to the rainforest.
On May 15, 2022,Chinese scientists sent up the latest model of “Jimu No.1”,
China’s self-developed airship, to collect weather information on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
The airship would work at a world-record altitude(海拔) of 9,032 meters. It
was the first time that an airship of its size had reached this height, even higher than that
of the 8,848-meter-tall Mount Qomolangma, the highest mountain in the world.
( C )51.What does the underlined word “them” in Paragraph 2 refer to?

Improvements in technology often happen overnight. Some gadgets get smaller and
faster.Others are replaced(代替) by newer things like smartphones. They can do
hundreds of things. Here are some old gadgets that people used to use.
①
Do you have a landline at home? It’s a phone that people plug(插入) into their
living room walls.Mobile phones didn’t use to be so common at that time,so most
families had a landline. But landlines only worked at home. What did people do when they
were outside and needed to call someone? They looked for a pay phone! Then, most
people had their own mobile phones and many homes no longer had landlines.
②
People today store plenty of information online,or on SD cards. But in
the 1980s and 1990s,people used to use floppy disks. The first floppy disks
were large, expensive, and not very useful—each disk could store just 175
KB of information! Later, floppy disks got smaller and better. But even the best ones could only hold 1.44 MB. You would need three or four disks just for one song, and about 22,000 disks to match the storage(储存空间) available on a 32 GB phone!
③
It’s easy to take photos today.People often have thousands of photos just
on their phones! But photos used to be expensive, and people took fewer of
them.To take a photo, you had to buy a roll of film. This allowed you to take
about 30 photos. After finishing the roll, you left it at a shop. The shop developed the photos to make them be seen, which you could collect after a few days.
Technology changes all the time, and the gadgets we use today will one day be
old. What do you think will be the next to disappear?

China is racing ahead in 5G. The Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station has
become the world’s first “5G railway station”.Now it takes only 20 seconds
to download(下载) a long movie there.
We are moving closer and closer to the 5G world. However, the new technology is
still strange to most of us.What is 5G after all?The first feature of 5G is obvious—it is
fast.5G will not only be faster than the current 4G networks,it will also be much faster
than the broadband connection we have at home!

of up to 5 gigabytes(千兆字节) per second. Most of us have never experienced anything

connection slowed down? That is because 4G networks can only support a certain number
of devices per square kilometer.5G networks will be able to do much better. They can
support up to a million devices per square kilometer. Now,you begin to understand why
5G is a huge upgrade over 4G. The technology is not just for the smartphone. It also has a
strong influence on every connected device. With 5G,self-driving(无人驾驶) cars will
be able to communicate with the world around them as quickly as possible. These cars will
be completely independent.Wearables,PCs(个人电脑) and smart home appliances

Nowadays, with the development of science and technology, there are more ways
for us to choose to write besides traditional handwriting.

We can write e-mails, articles
and homework on the computers or the mobile phones. Maybe it is more convenient for us
to use this modern way. However, handwriting also plays an important part in our life.
First of all, practicing writing Chinese characters is important to pass on the
traditional culture. Good handwriting helps build up our pride of national culture and love
towards our motherland. Next, there’s a certain meaning in one’s handwriting. Also,
writing Chinese characters carefully can help us form a habit of learning Chinese well.
