Ice-breaker Parties
Starting a new school and making new friends can be frightening. In order to get to know classmates easier, teachers can host parties that encourage the students to become acquainted with each other. This in turn promotes a comfortable educational environment.
Theme Party
Choose a theme for the party and encourage all the students to dress up ahead of time in accordance to the theme. Describe the word in accordance to the theme. This will promote socialization between the students. Play music and offer refreshments and snacks. This inclusive atmosphere and scene will allow the students to socialize before starting class.
Common Character
Print out a list of each student's name onto a worksheet and distribute(分发) them to the class. The students must talk to every other classmate to find one thing they have in common. Each student should have a common choice with each classmate. The common factors can be anything except physical features. By the end of the class every student will have gotten familiar with the entire class.
Baby Picture Matching
Collect a baby photo from each student before the party and display all the photos during the party. Encourage the students to take a close look at the baby photos and then try to decide which photo belongs to which person. This will encourage students to start conversations with more persons in the classroom. At the end of this party, award a prize for each correct guess.
Guess Who
As each student arrives, tape an index card with a character from a storybook or pop culture on his back. Do not allow the students to see their own cards. The students must then mix with each other to figure out their assigned character. The students may ask questions. This will encourage socialization between the classmates in the classroom in order to try and win the game.

"When choosing a career, I've always believed that young people should seek what they truly love." That's exactly the path Moyan has taken. Moyan, a music influencer, gained fame by covering (翻唱) pop songs on the guzheng. Since 2014, her guzheng covers have earned millions of views.
Despite the overnight success, Moyan didn't let it upset her life. "I was still a student at the time, and during those years focused on studying, the video's sudden popularity didn't really change my daily routine," she recalled.
But the wave of positive comments from the audience greatly inspired her to follow her love for the guzheng. With this drive, Moyan has gained many fans by playing modern songs on the old guzheng and slowly created her own special way of mixing old and new music styles.
One standout example of her works is the cover of the Eagles, Hotel California, which has gotten over 20 million views on YouTube. Many international viewers, after watching her videos, are amazed by her performances and often ask the same question: "What instrument is that I've never seen it before."
To Moyan, it's unfortunate that the guzheng is not well-known outside of China. She thinks the common English translation for guzheng—"Chinese zither"—is not quite right. However, she is hopeful that this will change, especially as more young people in China seek to reconnect with their cultural roots.
"I believe that when we present the guzheng with original confidence on global stages, introducing it proudly by name, it will become the accepted universal term." Moyan said.
Next, Moyan plans to play modern songs from different types of music using the guzheng challenging ideas about traditional Chinese instruments. With a focus on finger-style techniques and original compositions, she aims to expand what the guzheng can do. "Don't limit yourself—explore more," she said.
24. What did Moyan do after her sudden success
A. She quitted her studies.
B. She changed her performing style.
C. She turned a professional.
D. She went about her daily life as usual.
25. What makes Moyan a music particularly special
A. Having unique stage presence.
B. Mixing traditional and modern styles.
C. Reaching global followers online.
D. Focusing on covering classical music.
26. What does Moyan's attitude to the term "Chinese zither" indicate
A. She prefers spreading Chinese culture confidently.
B. She regards the guzheng as a type of the zither.
C. She credits the guzheng's global fame to the term.
D. She hopes Chinese young people reconnect with western culture.
27. Which of the following best describes Moyan
A. Creative.
B. Honest.
C. Warm-hearted.
D. Generous.

If you thought that your child's academic performance is based simply on the number of hours spent on studying, you are wrong. Good grades are a result of many factors, everything from the child's brains to the environment they are in. And one of the major, mostly ignored, influencing factors is physical health. Physical activity and health actually can improve a person's ability to learn. According to the National Academy of Medicine, exercise can improve a child's cognitive abilities, health, and academic performance significantly.
According to a study by the University of British Columbia, regular aerobic exercise improves the functioning of the hippocampus, the area of the brain involved in learning and memory. Other forms of exercise like balance exercises, muscle exercises, and resistance training did not have the same result on the brain.
The effect of exercise on memory and thinking is both direct and indirect. Directly, regular exercise gives the ability to increase the release of growth factors: These growth factors are chemicals in the brain that affect the growth of new blood vessels; the health of brain cells, as well as the survival of new brain cells. On the other hand, getting enough exercise will improve sleep quality and mood. It will also reduce stress and anxiety.
It is believed that the benefits of exercise during the school day are greater than those coming from increasing class time. Furthermore, the greatest cognitive benefits from physical education have been seen to come about when physical education was given either in the first half of the day or midday rather than at the end of the day.
In order to get the children moving, rest time, PE classes, biking or walking to school should be promoted. Activities like after-school sports that used to be held at school should be restarted. Physical activity should not be seen as a dispensable option but as an important educational concern.
28. What factor is often forgotten when it comes to good grades
A. Child's High IQ.
B. A good environment.
C. Physical health.
D. The hours spent on learning.
29. Which of the following exercises is best for learning and memory
A. Regular aerobic exercise.
B. Balance exercise.
C. Muscle exercise.
D. Resistance training.
30. How does exercise influence thinking indirectly
A. By releasing growth factors in large numbers.
B. By influencing the growth of new blood vessels.
C. By affecting the survival of new brain cells.
D. By improving a person's mood and sleep quality.
31. What is the passage mainly about
A. Mental health should never be ignored.
B. Physical education class is really a good option.
C. Exercise may contribute to good academic grades.
D. Different exercises have different results on the brain.
D
Artificial intelligence (AI) technology may soon be a useful tool for doctors. For example, it may help them understand and treat diseases like breast cancer (乳腺癌) in ways that were not possible.
Rishi Rawat teaches AI at a University in Los Angeles. He is part of a team of scientists who are researching how AI and machine learning can more easily recognize(识别) cancerous growth in the breast. He says, "You put information about cancer cells into a computer and it will learn the cancerous growth patterns. The pattern recognition is very important to making decisions"
At present, researchers have to take a thin piece of tissue (组织), put it on a small piece of glass and add color to better see the cell-growth patterns. That process could take days or even longer. Scientists say artificial intelligence can do it better than just count cells. Through machine learning, it can quickly recognize patterns, or structures, and learn how the cells are organized.
The hope is that machines will soon be able to make a quick recognition of cancerous cell growth patterns that is free of human mistakes. Rawat adds that the process could be done "for almost no cost for the patients". But having a large amount of information about cells is important for a machine to effectively do its job. Once the cancerous growth pattern is recognized, doctors still have to treat the patient. The form of treatment depends on the kind of cancer.
David Agus is another researcher of the team. He believes, "Computers will help doctors make better decisions and look for those patterns that the human brain can't recognize by itself. But they will not treat patients."
32. What's the advantage of AI technology
A. It treats breast cancer all by itself.
B. It provides free cancer treatment for the patients.
C. It recognizes the cancerous growth patterns faster.
D. It helps doctors make fewer mistakes in cancer treatment.
33. What does the underlined word "It" in paragraph 3 refer to
A. The process of treating cancers.
B. The process of adding color to cells.
C. The process of taking a piece of tissue.
D. The process of recognizing the cell-growth.
34. What can we know from David Agus' words
A. AI will not replace doctors.
B. AI will develop fast in the future.
C. AI can be useless in treating cancers.
D. AI can provide the doctors with treatments.
35. What is the main idea of the text
A. AI technology has a long way to go.
B. AI Makes Better Doctors.
C. Future Cancer Treatments will be successful.
D. AI Helps Pattern Recognition.
