Last Sunday afternoon, I was watching TV while Mom was busy with housework. She first cleaned the dining table carefully, then swept the living room floor. I noticed she kept rubbing her shoulders (揉肩膀). I thought she must be tired.
I suddenly felt sorry. Mom works hard at her job all week, and she still does most of the housework on weekends. So I turned off the TV right away and walked to her. “Mom, let me help you,” I said. Mom’s eyes were full of surprise and then she put on a big smile. She handed me a clean cloth and said, “You can clean the windows.”
Mom showed me how to clean without leaving water marks, and we talked about my school life while cleaning together. After we finished all the work, the house looked bright and tidy. Mom sat down with me and gave me a glass of warm milk. “Honey, this room feels nicer because we did it together. A family is about everyone taking care of each other, not just one person,” she said.

During holidays, many people like to travel. They may go to the countryside for fresh air or to the big city to enjoy shopping. But now there’s a new way of travelling in China: industrial tourism (工业旅游). This means visiting factories during vacations, not just relaxing or spending money.

My name is Helen. This summer vacation, I went climbing Mount Taishan with my parents.
We arrived at the foot of the mountain at about 8 p.m., because we planned to see the sunrise. At first, climbing was easy. I walked quickly and talked with my mom happily. But soon, the steps got steeper (更陡峭的) and seemed never-ending. My legs felt heavy, and sweat (汗水) ran down my back. I stopped and said, “I can’t go on anymore!” Dad smiled and gave me a bottle of water. “Take a break, then keep going. The best view is waiting for us,” he said.
I rested for about half an hour, then I kept climbing step by step. Finally, we reached the top at around 4 a.m. When the sun came out later, I looked down and was deeply shocked (震撼的). The mountains below were in soft clouds, like a huge white sea. The sun shone on the clouds. It was so beautiful.

The Double Ninth Festival, or Chongyang Festival, is a traditional (传统的) Chinese festival. It’s the perfect time to show love to our grandparents. Here are some easy ways to do that.
Surprise them. Though Chongyang Festival has a long history, many families seldom celebrate it. If you haven’t celebrated it before, surprise your grandparents this year. You could do something like making them a Chongyang cake. If you can’t be together, you can send them a special message to wish them good health.
Create a family tree. Another way to make grandparents feel loved is to make a family tree with their help. At the bottom (底部) of the tree, put your cousins’ and your names. Over these names, put your parents’ names, then your grandparents’ ...and see how far back you can go together in your family tree.
Ask them to share their memories. Grandparents love talking about family history. They know the most about where your family came from, what difficulties your family ever faced, and remember your parents from when they were young. Passing those things to their grandchildren is important to many grandparents.
Small acts matter too. Not only on festivals, but also on usual days, you have many things to do for grandparents. For example, help your grandparents with daily chores like tidying the room...
69. What does the underlined word “that” in paragraph 1 refer to (指的是)
A Celebrating the Double Ninth Festival. B. Showing love to our grandparents.
C. Spending time with our family. D. Sending a message to our grandparents.

C. They like living in the countryside. D. They hate doing daily chores.
72. What may the writer talk about next in the text

Last week, our class did a survey on housework. Here are the results.
About half of students clean their bedrooms and take out the rubbish. And fifteen students take on the duty of caring for pets, like walking dogs or feeding cats or fish. Five students often wash dishes after dinner and three students do other chores. But two students hardly do any chores.
I’m in the first group. Every morning, I make my bed and take out the rubbish. Sometimes I help wash dishes, too. I think doing housework teaches us responsibility. A tidy home needs everyone’s effort, so we should do our part.
