Last month, I joined the Insect Watching Club at school. I never thought insects could be so interesting!
On the first day, the club leader, Mr. Green, showed us a small brown beetle(甲虫).“This is a stag beetle," he said. “It might look ordinary, but each one has its own story."We watched the beetle slowly move around a small box. Its big jaws opened and closed, and I was a little afraid at first. But then I found myself wanting to know more about it.
Mr. Green gave us a task: to find and observe a beetle for a week. I searched everywhere-in the school garden, under rocks, and even in my backyard. Finally, I found a shiny black beetle near our school's old tree. I named it “Blacky" and started my work.
Every day after school, I watched Blacky. I saw it dig holes in the soil and carry small leaves. One day, I noticed something strange. Blacky was moving a much bigger leaf than itself! It tried many times, and each time it fell down. But it never gave up. After an hour, it finally managed to move the leaf into its hole.
This experience taught me a lot. I learned that even a small insect can be so strong and determined (有毅力的).And I also made some new friends in the club who shared the same interest. Now, I'm looking forward to our next insect adventure(冒险)!

Have you ever thought about controlling things with just your mind That's what brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) can do! BCIs are amazing devices that connect the brain to a computer. They can “read" the signals(信号) from our brain and turn them into actions. This technology might sound like something from a science-fiction movie, but it's becoming real.
BCIs work in a simple way. First, small sensors(传感器)are placed on a person's head or even inside the brain. They pick up the brain signals. Then, a computer changes these signals into instructions. For example, if a person thinks about moving his hand, the BCI can make a robot hand move.
Scientists are using BCIs in many useful ways. Some doctors use BCIs to help disabled people. For example, a person who can't move his body might be able to use a BCI to control a wheelchair. Other scientists are working on using BCIs to help people with memory(记忆)problems. They hope that one day, BCIs can help these people remember things better.
However, BCIs also bring some worries. Since they can“ read” our brain signals, some people are afraid that others might steal their personal thoughts or information. Scientists need to find ways to keep our brain signals safe.
With more research(研究),BCIs will surely bring us more surprises. Maybe one day, we can use them to do homework faster or play games in a whole new way!
1 What is the main purpose (目的) of the first paragraph
A. To tell a story about BCIs.
B. To show how BCIs work.
C. To introduce the topic of BCIs.
D. To give an example of BCIs 'use.
2 The underlined word “They" in Paragraph 2 refers to“_________”.
A. actions B. signals C. sensors D.BCIs
3 What can we infer from the passage
A. BCIs are still not used now.
B.BCIs will be used in more areas in the future.
C. BCIs can only be used by doctors and scientists.
D.BCIs can already help people remember everything.
4 Why are some people worried about BCIs
A. Because they are not useful.
B. Because they are too expensive.
C. Because they may cause health problems.
D. Because they might be used by some bad people.
5 In which section of a newspaper can we probably read this passage
A.SCIENCE. B.FASHION. C.MEDICINE. D.CULTURE.

Now, AI chatbots are everywhere. They can talk with people just like real friends. 1 For example, they can answer questions about history, science, and maths. They are like walking encyclopedias(百科全书)!You can even ask them about the latest news or how to cook a new dish.
In schools, teachers have started to use AI chatbots to help with teaching. 2 They can quickly find teaching materials from a large amount of information. Students can also ask chatbots to explain difficult homework problems. This makes learning easier. Some students use chatbots to practise their English speaking skills by having conversations.
AI chatbots are useful in our daily lives, too. 3 Thus we won't forget some important things, such as meetings or birthdays. The AI chatbots will remind us a few minutes ahead. They can also tell us funny stories when we feel bored. Some chatbots even help us plan trips by suggesting nice places to visit and the best ways to get there.
4 One big problem is that AI chatbots may give wrong answers. The information they learn from can have problems. It's bad when users get this wrong information.
But don't be too worried. As technology gets better and people who make chatbots fix them, chatbots will become better. 5 We should use them carefully and not trust them too much.
A. People can ask them all kinds of questions. B. However, AI chatbots still have some problems. C. We must remember that chatbots aren't perfect yet. D. We can ask them to set reminders for important things. E. They can help create teaching materials and plan daily lessons. F. They often give people answers that are wrong or don't make sense.

答案:
1.relaxed 2.flying 3.to get 4.A 5.yourself/yourselves 6.slowly 7.protect 8.or 9.about 10.importantly
2 “relaxed”。
3 need to do sth
5 by oneself意为“独自;单独”,这里主语是“you(你/你们)”,所以可以填“yourself(你自己)”或“yourselves(你们自己)”。
8在否定句中,连接并列的成分“pick flowers”和“cut down small trees”用“or”。
10 most importantly
