Hello, everyone! Get ready for an exciting tour to three world-famous museums. Let’s go!
Let’s start with the Forbidden City in Beijing, China. It was the home of Chinese emperors for centuries, but it is now a national museum. You can see many beautiful buildings, gardens, and treasures. The design of the Forbidden City mirrors the ancient Chinese idea of harmony.
Now, let’s head to the Louvre Museum in Paris, France. It is famous for its collection of great works such as the Mona Lisa. You’ll be amazed by its sculptures, paintings, and historical exhibits.

Lastly, we will travel to the British Museum in London, the UK. We can see many wonderful artifacts which provide a global picture of cultures from around the world.
Each museum is a centre of culture, history, and art. I’m sure you will like them!

Collecting things is a popular hobby. People may collect many different things like coins, stamps, or shoes. Mr Lee collects something unusual. He collects taxi parts, taxi clothes, taxi bags and more. He placed his collection in a museum and called it the Taxi Museum. It is the first taxi-themed museum in the world.
You can learn a lot in the museum. There are many old taxis. His collection includes a broken taxi. It is all smashed.
Why did Mr Lee buy a smashed taxi In February of
2015, this taxi was hit by an airplane on the highway!
No one can drive that taxi anymore, but you can
see it at the Taxi Museum.

e.g. You start with your homework first.

Language points
2. The design of the Forbidden City mirrors the ancient Chinese idea of harmony. 紫禁城的设计反映了中国古代和谐的理念。
mirror 作动词,意为“反映;反射”,为熟词生义。 作名词,意为“镜子”。
e.g. The music of the time mirrored the feeling of optimism in the country. 这个时期的音乐反映出这个国家的乐观精神。
mirror 作动词还可意为“与(另一事物)相似”:
e.g. Henry’s sad smile mirrored that of his son.
亨利脸上那苦涩的笑容跟他儿子一模一样。

“be famous for 因……而出名”,后跟闻名的原因(人的某种知识、技能或特征;地方的某种特产等)。同义短语:be known for。
e.g. China is famous for the Great Wall.
“be famous as 作为……而出名” 后跟表示人的身份、职称或某物的产地等类别的词。同义短语:be known as。
e.g. Lu Xun is famous as a writer.
“be famous to为……所熟知”,后跟表示人的词。同义短语:be known to。
e.g. His story is famous to all Chinese people.
他的故事为所有中国人所熟知。
for example 和such as都表示“例如”。
for example表示同类人和物中一个例子,后用逗号隔开,可放在句首、句中、句末。
such as 表示同类人和物中多个例子,其后不能加逗号,可放句中。
e.g. Many people like coffee, for example,Tom.
She likes many sports, such as running, jumping and swimming.

provide作及物动词,其后跟名词或代词。provide sb. with sth. = provide sth. for sb.,意为“给某人提供某物”。

易混辨析
provide 与 give
(1)provide 意为“提供;供应”,侧重在某种责任或义务下提供。
(2)give 意为“递给; 赠送;传递”,为普通意义上的“给予”。常用搭配:give sb. sth. = give sth. to sb.
