You can pause briefly before conjunctions such as and, but, because, etc.
Why do we need to pause when speaking
拆分信息：把 “去哪、和谁、做啥” 等信息用停顿分开，比如 “I went to Beijing /and visited the Great Wall”。
配合连词：像 and、but、because 这些连词前 / 后要停，比如 “I wanted to go /but it rained”，清晰体现逻辑（这里是转折）。
方便交流：问完话、等回应时停，比如 “Where did you go ”，让对方有时间答。
You can pause briefly before conjunctions such as and, but, because, etc.

Last summer, I went to Beijing. I went there with my parents. We took a train to get there, and the train ride was fun as we chatted and looked out at the scenery. In Beijing, I saw the Great Wall. It was really magnificent, and I was amazed by how long it was. I also visited the Summer Palace, which had beautiful lakes and lovely gardens with lots of colorful flowers. The food in Beijing was delicious too, especially the roast duck. We ate at a famous restaurant, and the duck was crispy and tasty. I felt so excited and happy about this trip. It was truly unforgettable.
