Li Ming used to be a kid who never expressed his true thoughts. He always had the same opinion about everything his friends said.
One day, he and his friends were discussing whether middle school students should bring phones to school. His friends all thought they should. Li Ming had a different idea about this. But he was afraid to express his thoughts. Finally, he chose to agree with them. However, always agreeing with others made him feel very uncomfortable. So he told his mom about this. He wanted his mom to give him some suggestions.
“I can’t tell people what I really think. I just have to say what they say,” said Li Ming. His mom smiled and passed him a book—The Analects of Confucius (《论语》). She told him this might be helpful to him. When he read the sentence “Gentlemen have peace but disagree (君子和而不同); Flunkies agree but have no peace (小人同而不和)”, he didn’t understand its meaning and asked his mom. “It means gentlemen can live in harmony (和谐) with others even though sometimes they don’t agree with each other. That’s because they respect different ideas and they always tell their own ideas bravely. Flunkies agree easily, but they keep their own thoughts and don’t really work together,” his mom explained.
Hearing this, Li Ming realized that having different ideas is not a bad thing. He began to change his ways. He started to express his own thoughts bravely. To his surprise, he found that their friendship became even stronger!
1.What did Li Ming use to be like
2.Did Li Ming think students should be allowed to bring phones to school
3.Why can gentlemen live in harmony though they disagree with each other
4.What happened after Li Ming started to express his own ideas bravely
5.Will you tell your friends your own ideas when you disagree with them Why

The word zhiyin, which means close friends, comes from the story of Yu Boya and Zhong Ziqi in the Warring States Period (战国时期).
Boya was good at playing guqin. One day, he was playing music. To Boya’s surprise, Ziqi,a woodcutter (樵夫), who happened to pass by, could understand what he wanted to express through his music. After a long talk, they became good friends. Since Boya had to return to his state, they agreed to meet again in the following year.
Unluckily, when getting back to visit Ziqi, Boya heard that his friend died of an illness. Boya was so sad and in front of Ziqi’s tomb (墓), he played again the music he had played when they first met. The feeling of the music was so strong that it was as if the rivers and the mountains were crying. When finishing playing, Boya broke his guqin into pieces. From then on, Boya never played again.
People in the Song Dynasty built the Guqin Tai in Hanyang to remember the deep friendship between Boya and Ziqi. It became an important part of the local culture.
Zhiyin culture has new development now. The famous ancient Chinese classical music piece Gaoshan Liushui was performed during the G20 Summit (峰会) in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. The musical performance showed not only the beauty of traditional Chinese culture, but also China’s wish to develop its friendship with people from around the world.

8.Where did Boya break his guqin

In ancient (古代的) China, there was a famous musician named Yu Boya. He was highly talented in playing the guqin. His music was so beautiful that it could touch people’s hearts.

Although Zhong Ziqi was only a woodcutter (伐木者), he was able to understand the feelings and meanings expressed through Yu Boya’s music. Zhong Ziqi could tell when Yu Boya was playing for the mountains or waters. This deep understanding helped to build a strong friendship between them. They became close friends who could communicate (交流) through the language of music.
Unluckily, Zhong Ziqi died soon. Yu Boya was really sad. In memory of his dear friend, he broke his guqin, saying never to play it again.

One day, Yu Boya plays a piece of music about high mountains. Zhong Ziqi listens carefully and says, “Your music is as great as Mount Tai.” Yu Boya is surprised and happy—this is what he wants to show through (通过) his music.
Then, Yu Boya plays another piece about flowing water. Zhong Ziqi smiles and says, “Your music is as wide and strong as the big river.” Yu Boya is very excited. He holds Zhong Ziqi’s hand and says, “You’re my close friend. Only you get my music.”

Jessica and Joyce were best friends in junior Grade Three. They did almost everything together. Then one day, after a misunderstanding (误解), Joyce stopped talking to Jessica. For more than three months, Joyce refused to talk to Jessica or answer her notes. “During that time, I found out what an important friend she was,” Jessica says, “I couldn’t even give all my attention to my study. I just thought about how to heal (修复) our friendship.”
The next term, Jessica tried again. This time, Joyce was also happy to work it out. It took some time and hard work, but the friendship was healed.
Most of us have suffered the pain of broken friendships. But the good news is that most friendships can be healed.
Oxford professor Michael Argyle recently finished a 15-year study that found out what makes people happy. What did he find The key to happiness is having one close relationship and a network of friends. Other studies show that our social connections make us healthier. Keeping a healthy friendship is worth the hard work!
If there’s a broken friendship you’d like to heal, try the following advice:
> Try to see things from your friend’s point of view.
> Talk about the problems openly but kindly.
At first, Jessica didn’t understand why Joyce stopped talking to her. Then Joyce finally explained that Jessica’s trick made her upset. “I finally found out she was angry because I made fun of her in front of the boys in our class,” Jessica explained. Jessica meant nothing by her trick and thought it shouldn’t make Joyce upset. But when she realised it was embarrassing (令人难堪的) to Joyce, she stopped.
Then their friendship could be healed.

Starting from the autumn term in 2024, students at primary and middle schools in Beijing began to have a longer break between two classes, from 10 minutes to 15 minutes, so students could spend more time outside.
To help children better enjoy activities during break time, some schools mixed break time with labor education by opening planting areas and animal breeding zones (饲养区).

As the break time is longer, making sure everyone is safe is also important. P.E. teachers in schools keep an eye on students in the playground.

When I was 17, I flew across the country by myself for the first time! I headed for Quebec to live with a French-speaking host family, who didn’t speak any English. And I would learn French at a local school.
On the first day of school, the local school gave us students a test to determine (测定) our language level. We needed to only speak French all summer.
I made every effort to communicate (交流) in a second language by making new friends, seeing movies and even ordering food from restaurants in French. Though I couldn’t understand most of it at the very beginning, the experience was exciting and refreshing.
On weekends, my classmates and I took trips to different places around the province. On one trip, we went whale watching on the St Lawrence River. Even though it was raining, we could see huge whales swimming around our boat. The most wonderful part of our trip was a visit to Old Quebec. I walked along the stone street, took pictures of the European-style (欧式的) buildings, and learned some stories there.
At the end of the summer, I was able to communicate pretty well. I couldn’t wait to go back to school and talk with my French teacher. Being lost in a French-speaking environment was a valuable learning experience. And it could be the main reason for my improvement (提高) in French.

The aim (目标) of students who come to school is to study. But to study requires (需要) a right way, or you waste the time and the money. The following are the ways of studying.
▲The best time for reading is morning, because in the morning, the air is fresh and the mind is clear. For that reason, we can get good results.
▲In studying, we must have patience (耐心). If we don’t know a text well, we must read it again. We should not read the next one till we learn the first one.
▲When we are studying, we must put our hearts into the book, or we can get nothing from the book while we are reading.
▲We must always ask “whys”. If it is not well understood, write it down and ask our teachers, our parents or friends. In any possible way, we must know it and what we’ve learned can be used well and made better.
There are many ways for studying, the above-mentioned (提到的) will be quite enough if we can keep them in mind and do so.

A study timetable is a handy, inexpensive tool that can help you get control over your study time. If you want to get organized and feel motivated to get your work done to the best, try to make a study timetable following the steps.
Step 1: Make a list of your responsibilities.
You need to think about and write down the list. You should consider all of your classes as well as something you do every day like your homework, sports and exercise.
Step 2: Consider best times of day for studying.
Spend some time thinking about when you do your best studying. Are you a morning person or a night person Thinking about this now will help you do your best to schedule (计划) important study time during the best study hours.
Step 3: Decide on a form.
You can make your timetable on a piece of paper or in digital (电子的) form, such as a spreadsheet or an app on your phone. In fact, both paper and digital study timetables have their advantages. A digital timetable might be easier to make a few changes to. A print form might also be easier to color and personalize.
Step 4: Fill in your timetable.
You can make a single timetable that will stay the same each week. Or, you can build a custom one for each week, which changes depending on the specifics (细节) of that week. For a custom weekly timetable, start with a big project or final exams and work backwards. And don’t forget to include exceptions like birthdays and holidays.
Step 5: Schedule time for blocks and breaks.
You can aim for blocks of study time and I suggest a block of study time can be two to three hours. This will help you get into the groove of studying (学习最佳状态) and help you to be more productive with your time. But breaks are necessary for your success. You’re not a robot, so you can’t work non-stop for hours on end.
Step 6: Use the timetable.
Just keep to it but don’t stress about it. Don’t feel like you have to follow the timetable down to the exact minute. And look back to see what works and what doesn’t, and if something isn’t working, fix it!
62.What should we do first when we make a study timetable
63.What are the two forms of a timetable
64.According to the writer, how long can one block of study time last
65.How did you make your study timetable for the past winter vacation Is it helpful Why or why not

Everyone is born with the ability to learn, but whether or not you can do this well depends on your learning habits. Research shows that successful learners have some good habits in common.
Good learners often connect what they need to learn with something interesting. For example, if they need to learn English and they like music or sports, they can listen to English songs or watch sports programs in English. This way, they will not get bored.
Good learners think about what they are good at and what they need to practice more. Remember: use it or lose it. Even if you learn something well, you will forget it unless you use it. Practice makes perfect. Good learners will keep practicing what they have learned and they are not afraid of making mistakes.

Most children have wonderful toys to play with. Usually, their parents buy these toys for them, often as Christmas or birthday gifts. Some children buy small toys with their pocket money But instead of buying toys, one fun way to get new toys is to make them.
The easiest toy to make is a kite. For a kite, all you need is a large piece of paper, two sticks, some pieces of string and some glue. Take the two sticks and use the string to fix them together in the centre. Then take a string and tie it to the ends of the sticks to make a string square (正方形). Cut the paper to make it the same size as the square. Finally, stick the paper to the string square with glue. Now your kite is finished. All you need to do is to tie a long string to the kite so you can fly it. In many countries, there are kite competitions. Hundreds of people come together to show off their kites. In one famous competition, some of the kites are more than three metres tall. They need many strong men to fly them and people use rope instead of string.
74.According to the passage, what is a fun way to get new toys
75.According to the passage, how many kinds of materials do you need to make a kite
76.What is the last thing you need to do before you can fly your kite

Making a Basic Pencil Holder
Step 1. Take the label off of a plastic bottle.
The bottle can be any size, shape or colour you want. If you can’t find a plastic water bottle, use a plastic soda bottle instead.
Step 2. Cut the top part off the bottle with a box cutter.
Don’t worry about being too exact. It might be a good idea to cut it a little bit taller than you think you might need it. If you are a child, ask an adult to help you with this step.
Step 3. Use scissors to even out the top.
Keep trimming until you get the height you want, and there are no jagged lines left. Try to make the bottle no shorter than half the height of a standard pen or pencil.
Step 4. Decorate the bottle further to make it beautiful.
Once the bottle is completely dry, add some more colour to it using some stickers, markers, or paint. You can even decorate it with glitter glue pens! If you want to use lighter colours, try paint pens.
Step 5. Finished.
Put your pens or scissors in the bottle.
