1. Teaching Contents Analysis
Analysis of teaching material: First, let’s focus on the analysis of teaching material. This lesson is from Senior English for China Student’s Book 1 Module3, the reading part. The theme context of this unit is man and self--family life. This passage presents the theme of the unit from another perspective. The type of the text is a play, The article tells the story that a father and his son have differences and conflicts on the son's future career, which are finally reconciled by the grandfather.
Through the study of this article, students can not only quickly and accurately obtain the required information, master the relevant knowledge of drama, analyze the character and emotion according to the text, but also accurately understand the meaning of the title according to the content of the article. At the same time, after learning this lesson, students should be able to correctly solve family conflicts in daily life, establish a correct family view, and deepen their understanding of the theme of this unit.
Analysis of students:
The next part is the analysis of students. The students are in senior high. They have learned English for several years, they’ve known some words and sentences, but their speaking and reading abilities are still not good. The students' English level is uneven, so the teaching design should have gradient, from shallow to deep. In addition, students are in a special period of adolescence, and it is inevitable that they will have various conflicts and differences with their parents. Therefore, this topic is closely related to students' lives. Students will be interested in this topic and have something to say. Therefore, in the process of teaching, teachers should guide students step by step to correctly and properly solve family contradictions in daily life, understand parents' love for their children, so as to love parents and their home, and establish a correct family view.
2. Teaching Aims
According to the New Standard Curriculum and the present situation, I set the teaching aims as follows:
knowledge aims: to help students gain the main idea of the passage and think deeply over the title;
Ability aims: to help students acquire the characters and their feelings by reading and analyzing the play;
Emotional aims:to direct students to learn how to solve some family conflicts by communicating with their parents properly.
3. Key points and difficult points
Based on the above analysis, the key points of this lesson are:
To read the play and understand the main structure of the text .
To acquire the key words and sentences in this passage
To deepen students’ understanding of the theme, and from correct outlook on family.
4. Teaching Methods
a. Cooperative Learning Method:
Through the study of the article and the discussion between groups, each student has his own opinions on family love. Students can express their creativity and initiative through cooperation.
b. Task-based Language Teaching (TBLT):
Combining the students' situation and interest, the task is designed to make students learn the knowledge and improve the ability of language expression in the process of completing the task. At the same time, let students read with questions, find out the answers, and analyze their own view.
(In order to realize the principle that students will be centered, I decide to choose Cooperative Learning Method and Task-based Teaching method as the main teaching methods. I will lead students to discuss in groups and learn to communicate with others so as to be the host of the class.)

While-reading (skimming) Task1 1.Read the passage and get the genre and main idea of the passage.(skimming) 2.Learn the basic elements of a play Ss get the main idea of the text 2.learn a new genre and acquire the structure of it 1.Help Ss have a general understanding of the text. 2.Introduce a new type of genre 5
While-reading (scanning) Task2 Read the passage again and find key words to fill in the blanks the whole class is divided into 4 groups to analyse the conflict (scanning) Ss read the text quickly and find the key words Help Ss find the information of the conflict , which can let them better understand the play. 2.Cooperative learning can raise the students’ interest and create an atmosphere of achievement. 7
While-reading (scanning) Task3 Read the passage again and fill the blanks to analyse the plot and emotion (scanning) 1.what happened 2.what are their feelings. Ss should Read the passage again and master the change of feelings between father and son. help Ss get the correct and useful information. Students should not only have a high speed of reading but also have a correct understanding of details. help Ss connect the changes between plot and emotion. 7
While-reading (discussion) Task4 1.discuss the meaning of like father like son with group members (Group work) 2.show a short video of like farther like son. Ss discuss with their group members according to the tasks above. help Ss better understand the title of the passage help Ss develop their ability of cooperation and expression. 3
Post- reading (role-play) Task1 Choose one of the scenes and make a performance with partners. 6. Blackboard Design:
In the middle top is the title and in the middle is the chart, which can help students understand the key content clearly.
(Reflection: In this lesson, I use cooperative leaning method and task-based teaching method to enable students to solve language problems, understand the meaning of the context and dig the deep meaning step by step. Meanwhile, through the discussion, I, acting as a guide, lead the students to understand family life, family relations and family affection, which can help them form correct outlook on life, values and family. In a word, I believe the students can get much more than what is printed in the book after this lesson.)
