(2025·合肥六校联盟联考) Monica Bertagnolli is an oncologist(肿瘤学家) at Brigham and Women's Hospital and a professor of surgery at Harvard Medical School. Growing up in Wyoming, she was well aware of the lack of health care resources in rural areas. Access to in-depth care for cancer patients is hard to get. She's worked throughout her career to change that.
In Wyoming, there's a great distance to travel between where people live and where they can find a cancer specialist. “If you need treatments and they have to be administered every day, and if it's 120 miles from where you live, that ends up being a huge barrier to receiving the kind of care you need.”
And now Monica serves as the vice president of the Coalition (联盟) of Cancer Cooperative Groups (CCCG)—an international network of individuals who work to improve the quality of life and survival of cancer patients by increasing participation in cancer clinical trials.
She said, “One of the really important things is, we're trying to make sure that cancer clinical trials can get to every single patient who needs them in my own state.” The coalition set up sites in northern and southern Wyoming that are able to run clinical trials. Before those trials became available, patients would usually go to Denver or Salt Lake City—a three-to-seven-hour drive.
Monica's efforts to increase access to the health care needs of her rural Wyoming patients also include helping to develop new policies that will allow patients to participate in more clinical trials, and linking them with a regional doctor who can get them the access to the care they need.
In addition to the clinical trials, Monica said that technology's progress like better cell phone and Internet service in the mountains of Wyoming, as well as social media, has helped rural residents stay in touch with loved ones and medical professionals despite their distance. She is trying to advocate strongly for those changes to continue.
“I still consider myself part of Wyoming and I am very devoted to making sure that patients can get access to care.”

(2025·辽宁名校联盟高三期中) An estimated 5.4 million people in the United States suffer from Alzheimer's disease, a number that is expected to grow as the Baby Boomers age. Even more suffer from other forms of dementia (痴呆). To keep such patients' minds engaged and give their caregivers at home a break, doctors often refer them to day centers, where they can exercise, take part in activities, and receive professional guidance or medication.
Recently, the George G. Glenner Alzheimer's Family Centers, a San Diego nonprofit that operates several such facilities, has begun to create a very different sort of daytime space for its patients: a fake town of 24 buildings, arranged around a central green and designed to evoke the era when most of today's dementia patients were young adults. The hope is that visual reminders of their youth will spark memories and conversations.
Glenner Town Square will be the first facility of its kind in the United States, according to Daniel Sewell, a professor of clinical psychiatry at UC San Diego and an unpaid medical adviser on Glenner's board.
While the project is novel, the approach it reflects—known as reminiscence therapy (回忆疗法)—is common in clinical practice. By using a variety of reminders such as photographs and music, facilitators—including staff at Glenner—help dementia patients recall episodes from decades past. Studies have found that the therapy improves both cognitive function and quality of life; a fully immersive environment like Glenner Town Square could enhance these effects.
As dementia progresses, memories of childhood and early adulthood tend to endure the longest. “Graduation from high school, college, the first job, marriage, perhaps children—these are the milestones, typically, in life,” Tarde, an administrator of the George G. Glenner Alzheimer's Family Centers, said. “That 20-year period seems to be where memories are the strongest.” Ask a person with mid-stage dementia about Jennifer Lawrence, and you'll probably get a confused stare. But take out a photo of actress Judy Garland, and a lively conversation may follow.

(2025·四川成都高三三诊) Social welfare programs, including quality early education, earned-income tax credit and health care, can change children's lives. More importantly, recent studies show the benefits from these programs strongly influence the next generation, lifting them out of poverty.
The long-term impact of prekindergarten is well established and widely known. 50 years ago, 123 three-and four-year-old African Americans from low-income families in Ypsilanti, Michigan took part in an experiment.
About half attended a pioneering early education program called Perry Preschool, while the control group did not. Researchers have been able to track the lives of most of these children ever since. The kids who went to Perry Preschool did better in school, made more money, and were healthier than the control group.
The benefits of Perry Preschool didn't just stop with those children. A study published last summer by Nobel Prize-winning economist James Heckman and his colleagues takes the implications of Perry a giant step further. This research shows that the children of the Perry preschoolers are also better off because of their parents' experience.
As the Perry preschoolers grew up, they became better educated and developed greater socio-emotional skills than the control group. They became better parents. Their children grew up in harmonious two-parent families that made, on average, about $10,000 more a year. It was enough to lift many of them out of poverty. This healthy upbringing has had a long-lasting effect on the children of the Perry pared to the children of the control group, they were much less likely to have dropped out, and more likely to have graduated from high school.
Here's another example. A Norwegian study demonstrated the decades-long impact on babies who, during their first year, benefited from their mothers' having had the opportunity to sign up for free mother and child health care centers. In the following years, these youngsters grew taller and stayed in school longer than those whose mothers did not receive the same support. At 40, they are in better health.

(2025·山东潍坊三模) In today's fast-paced world, where screen time is a fact of life, the thought of taking your kids to an art gallery—and having them actually enjoying the experience—might seem a thankless and impossible challenge. 1(____) Surely a child won't have the patience to stare at something outside the screen.
In fact, art galleries serve as invaluable educational and instructional resources. They invite young viewers to interpret and connect with the artwork on a personal level. This exposure not only broadens their artistic horizons but also encourages them to appreciate different ways of seeing the world. So art galleries are packed with nutrition for mind, heart, and soul. But many kids are picky eaters, and take galleries as appetising as yesterday's porridge (粥). 2(____)
Allow your children to fit in on their own terms. Who said that walking around a gallery had to be slow and methodical, stopping to look at every picture 3(____) If they want to head straight for a certain display, it's no big deal. If something catches their eye on the other side of the room, far away from the Picasso or Constable in the spotlight, that's absolutely fine.
While it might sound like I'm not being an art enthusiast, the particular work of art is simply not important. What really matters is that children build a connection with art. 4(____) Involve older children, either with or without a reward, in simple quizzes such as, “Who can guess the artist?” or, “Who can identify the period it was made?”
5(____) Ask questions such as, “What exhibit did you find most exciting or boring?” or, “How did that painting make you feel?” and discuss your different impressions of the same works. As an added bonus, it will deepen the connection between you and your children. By taking this approach, art is no longer dull but something alive and relevant to young people, and even a rewarding and fascinating pursuit that will last a lifetime.

1.答案:G
解析:根据上文“In today's fast paced world, where screen time is a fact of life, the thought of taking your kids to an art gallery—and having them actually enjoying the experience—might seem a thankless and impossible challenge.”和下文“Surely a child won't have the patience to stare at something outside the screen.”可知,很多人认为孩子没有耐心去仔细观察屏幕之外的东西,特别是艺术画廊这种需要安静反思和观察的地方。故选G。
