A
(2025·郑州第三次质量预测) The public footpath lay barely 20 meters from where I stood, promising a walk along the river, passing fields and through woodland, well away from any road. Yet there was something in my way—the River Thames, whose water runs very fast.
I checked my map to see how to reach the path, but there was no other footpath that would lead me to the island on which it sat. It was only accessible by boat.
It was this path that came to mind when,a few weeks later,I decided to try cross-country swimming, which combines water and walking.
As I got into the river—its coolness was welcome on the warm August day—the weight of my supplies dissipated. My back was free, and I simply pulled everything I needed in a bag behind me,feeling almost weightless. I relaxed into the water,my hair flowing around my face as I slowly floated alongside dragonflies,a moorhen (黑水鸡) and her chicks—none of which seemed to even acknowledge my presence.
The whole experience went by all too quickly and in no time I was drying off and walking back to the station. Though cross-country swimming was invented to provide a challenge,I believed it had given me something much more important—the confidence to try it by myself.
So I decided to return to my inaccessible island, the footpath by the Thames. I got into the waterway and swam, exploring the island's banks for a while. After 5 minutes of searching, the island let me in:I found my entrance point alongside a tree and pulled myself out.
Though the Thames loop wasn't that long a walk, and the swim was not too big a challenge,it represented more than that. It gave me the chance to pioneer a new route never open to me before, the opportunity to reach a picnic spot that otherwise would have been off limits and, when it came to that footpath, the ability to access the previously inaccessible.
1.What initially prevented the author from reaching the public footpath ( )
A.Overgrown fields. B.A thick woodland.
C.A fast-flowing river. D.A lack of a road map.

2.What does the underlined word “dissipated” in Paragraph 4 probably mean?( )
A.Spread. B.Remained. C.Disappeared. D.Increased.
答案:C

3.Which word best describes the author's cross-country swimming experience ( )
A.Thrilling. B.Encouraging.
C.Embarrassing. D.Disappointing.
答案:B

4.What does finding the footpath to the island mean to the author ( )
A.An escape from the real world.
B.A chance to get close to nature.

D.A symbol of personal achievement.
根据最后一段中的“It gave me the chance to pioneer a new route ...the ability to access the previously inaccessible.”

(2025·厦门高三第四次质量检测) Cordero is the farm manager at Ollin Farms, not far from Boulder, Colorado. The locally grown vegetables on the farm aren't just pretty. “We play an important role in public health nutrition programs,” says Cordero's dad, Mark Guttridge, who started this farm with his wife, Kena, 17 years ago.
At a meeting with about a dozen local farmers, two state representatives, and the Colorado officials of agriculture, Guttridge explains how Boulder County has made creative investments in his farm that could be spread to the state or even national level. Before the meeting, Guttridge shows them one of those investments.
A dozen sheep, which Guttridge raises for wool, feed on root vegetables like radishes that have been left over for them. “So these guys are out fertilizing the vegetable field,” Guttridge laughs. “They'll be out here a couple more weeks, and then we'll get our next summer vegetables planted right there.” Around the field is a special moveable type of fencing that Ollin Farms bought using financial aid from the Boulder County Sustainability Office. It allows them to move the sheep from one field to another, fertilizing as they go. The goal of these investments is “really building up our soil health,” he explains. “That relates directly to the nutrient quality of the food—healthy soil grows healthy food.”
The county also makes an effort to get that healthy food out to different communities to boost public health. That's where the Boulder County Public Health Department comes in. It created a coupon program to give discounts to people buying fruits and vegetables from Ollin Farms. Nutrition incentive programs, like those public health fruit and vegetable coupons, are spreading all over the country, and most are funded through the federal farm bill. Amy Yaroch, executive director at the Gretchen Swanson Center for Nutrition, says “It's a triple win. It's basically good for the consumers who live in that particular community because they're getting the healthy food, it's good for the farmer, and then it's good for the economy.”
5.What does Ollin Farms do?( )

B.It offers financial aid to other farms.

6.How does Boulder County support sustainable farming practices at Ollin Farms?( )
A.By raising sheep on radishes.
B.By buying fences for farmhouses.
C.By funding the farm's soil health.
D.By giving advice about fertilizing fields.
根据第三段中“The goal of these investments is ‘really building up our soil health,’ he explains. ‘That relates directly to the nutrient quality of the food—healthy soil grows healthy food.’”
7.What is Amy's attitude towards “nutrition incentive programs”?( )
A.Cautious. B.Dismissive. C.Unclear. D.Approving.

(2025·石家庄高三年级摸底检测) Unlike some of Spain's tourist hotspots, where tensions between locals and tourists have risen over the summer, the Cies Islands present a rare success story. A simple but effective cap on daily visitor numbers has greatly reduced the pressure on the environment and created a more pleasant experience for visitors.
Before boarding the ferryboat to the islands, visitors must first secure a QR code from the Galician regional government and pay 25 for the round-trip fare. “It was chaos before the cap,” says José Bouzas, the director of the park. “There were just too many people. Now, not only do they understand the need for this limit, but they also appreciate it. It allows visitors to enjoy their time here without impacting the ecosystem.”
Spain's overtourism problems aren't limited to its most famous cities. Mass tourism has become a flashpoint for local annoyances. Protests erupted in multiple locations this year against the unchecked growth that affects local life. While tourism is often blamed for broader social issues, some experts argue that it's only part of the problem.Linda Osti, a senior tourism lecturer at Bangor University, suggests that protests in cities like Barcelona expose a deeper disconnection between local authorities and residents. “Local governments should talk more about their intentions with their communities,” Osti says. “It's not just about tourism, it's about economic planning. If local people had better housing and employment conditions, tourism wouldn't be such a flashpoint.”
As visitors sail to the Cies Islands, they witness a rare and beautiful balance between nature and tourism. It's a place where nature lovers and eco-conscious travellers can enjoy a break from the crowds that overwhelm other parts of Spain. But this careful balance wasn't achieved overnight. It required local authorities to take tough decisions, like the cap on visitors, and to stick with them, even as tourism grew elsewhere. For José Bouzas, the lesson is clear: “If you don't conserve these islands, there's no point. You'd end up killing the goose that lays the golden eggs.”
9.What's the secret to the Cies Islands' success in tourism?( )
A.Limiting tourist numbers. B.Building more facilities.
C.Practising green tourism. D.Providing quality service.
答案:A
根据文章第一段中的“A simple but effective cap on daily visitor numbers has greatly reduced the pressure on the environment and created a more pleasant experience for visitors.” 故选A。
10.What is a requirement for tourists to visit the Cies Islands?( )
A.Taking a local ferryboat. B.Buying travel insurance.
C.Getting an official QR code. D.Passing security checks.
根据第二段中的“Before boarding the ferryboat to the islands, visitors must first secure a QR code from the Galician regional government and pay 25 for the round trip fare.”
11.What should the government do according to Linda Osti?( )
A.Communicate with tourists.
B.Promote community interactions.
C.Develop mass tourism industry.
D.Improve housing and employment.
根据第三段中Linda Osti的话“‘Local governments should talk more about their intentions with their communities’”以及“‘It's not just about tourism, it's about economic planning. If local people had better housing and employment conditions, tourism wouldn't be such a flashpoint.’”
12.What can we infer from the last paragraph?( )
A.Tourism benefits both tourists and local people.
B.The local authority will continue the tourism policy.
C.The eco-system on the Cies Islands needs improving.
D.Travellers will visit the Cies Islands in large crowds.

G.You are sure to break free from the cycle of self-doubt
1.答案:A
本段主旨句为“Get help from someone you look up to.”,设空位于句末,所以应是对上文做法的总结。
