On the way home after our shots, a tiny finger touched my shoulder. It was Angie, and she was staring at me intently. “Thank you for telling me, Arlene，” she whispered. “It did hurt, but now it's over and I hope you're brave like me.” Angie smiled and relieved. Leonard ruffled her hair, adding “that's the spirit.” Mama squeezed my hand. “You did well, Arlene，” she said softly. “Sometimes it's hard to tell the truth, but it's always the right thing to do.” I beamed with pride and felt grateful for my family and their love.
