When Jenny was a teenager, she was of medium height, well built, clever and sociable. But every morning, when she was getting dressed, she looked at herself in the mirror and thought, "I want thicker hair, longer legs and a smaller nose." At school, while Jenny was sittng in class, she looked around and wondered, "Why can't I be as tall as Alice Why can't I be like John He's outgoing and good at sports, and is the most popular student in school." Jenny didn't realise that many other students were thinking the same thing.
As teenagers grow, their bodies change, and so does the way they feel about themselves, like their appearance and personality. These changes make a lot of teenagers feel uncomfortable and shy, like Jenny.
Jenny wasn't just comparing herself with her classmates, however. When she
saw good-looking and confident models on TV and in magazines, she wanted to
look like them too. However, Jenny didn't know that those images weren't real.
The models were wearing make-up and people often used computers to change
their pictures. And all these made them look taller, thinner and more perfect
than ordinary people in real life.
When Jenny grew older, she realised that she was pretty. She also found that
most people didn't always notice her looks. They liked her personality and
confidence, as well as how she felt about herself. Jenny learnt to love herself,
and when she did, other people did too!
She was of medium height, well built, clever and sociable.
She wasn’t happy with her appearance, like her hair, legs and nose. She often compared herself with others, such as Alice and John. She felt unsure and wished to be like them.
She realised she was pretty. She found people liked her personality and confidence. She learnt to love herself.

I'm Zhou Wei. When I was a teenager, I was not 1 outgoing/patient
or humorous like some of my friends. I always felt 2 shy/glad when

problem that most young people face. lf we practise more, we can
