(2025八上·番禺期末)A new and exciting invention now allows deaf people to see conversations in real time. Using augmented reality (AR) glasses and a smartphone, deaf and hearing-impaired (听力受损的) people are also able to join in everyday conversations.
The AR glasses were developed by Dan Scarfe after he had dinner with his family. The man saw his hearing-impaired grandfather sitting alone in silence while the rest of the family were talking excitedly. This reminded him of his grandfather who was always watching TV shows with subtitles (字幕). Because of this experience, he realized that he should do something to help.
Scarfe got to work with an AR glasses maker. Six months later, a new pair of AR glasses came out.
The glasses first receive the audio (音频) and send it to a connected smartphone. The phone then creates subtitles from that audio. With the help of software, these subtitles appear on the user's glasses screen.
The company first tested the glasses in the UK. The UK was chosen as a testing ground because over 12 million adults in Britain have hearing loss. However, when the product goes global, it could change the lives of some 430 million people. This is about 5% of the world's population and includes 70 million people with total hearing loss.
This is a game changer for the deaf. Mark Atkinson, who is using the AR glasses, says, "As a deaf person, I am blown away by this new technology. When I tried on the glasses for the first time, I was so amazed. Real-time subtitles made me become part of the conversation as never before."

(2025八上·番禺期末)Think about how much time you spent outside last week. Really "outside." Walking from the car into the mall doesn't count.
Now think about how much time you spent indoors—on the Internet or playing video games or watching TV.
You may say, "I play inside more than outside and I like to play games on the computer."
If so, it's likely that you spent more time inside four walls than outside in fresh air. Kids today spend two fewer hours per week on sports and outdoor activities than kids did 20 years ago. That's according to a University of Michigan study. Non-moving activities are more popular. The costs "include overweight, greater stress (压力), and less joy…," says Richard Louv, writer of Last Child in the Woods: Saving Our Children from Nature-Deficit Disorder.
Play is important, even for adults. 42.
Outdoor activity betters your senses (感觉). The next time you sit down to message your friends, take notes of your senses during and after your texting. Then do the same experiment after you've done something outside. You will find being outdoors brings the senses to life. Hiking, exploring, and fishing help hone all of your senses. Smell, sight…all of your senses are in use when you're outside.
Spending time outdoors brings you closer to the environment. When you're out, breathe in fresh air, hear the leaves crackle underfoot and search cool birds and plants in the woods. It can help you feel more connected to the natural world. No woods nearby Nature can be found right outside your back door or in your local park.
So the next time you sit down to spend quality time with a video game, think about treating yourself to a little outdoor play instead.
43.How does the writer first introduce the topic of outdoor play

D.By telling the reader outdoor play is good for body and mind.

A.By showing a recent study in a book.
B.By introducing different kinds of outdoor play.
C.By asking the reader to think about his or her own experience.
D.By telling the reader outdoor play is good for body and mind.
44.Which sentence should go in the empty box in paragraph 5
A.Outdoor play helps form relationships.
B.Just getting outdoors does good.
C.Nature can help you forget your worries.
D.The outdoors is the best place to practise skills.
