With the back-to-school season nearing, my thoughts return to my educational journey at Greenville Senior High Academy (GSHA). Those early school days feel like a story from an old book, filled with the memory (记忆) of neighborhood classmates walking together to school and the sound of students laughing during breaks.
In 2008, I was called “gifted” after a few rounds of tests and received an acceptance letter from GSHA. This new situation gave me the heebie - jeebies — leaving behind familiar faces to go into a world where strangers came from every corner of the Greenville area was a lot to deal with. As I stepped into the new hallways, I had no idea of the great impact (影响) this change would have on my life.
My time at GSHA marked an important period that remains a highlight of my young life. Dance became an unexpected great love for me. Ballet and modern dance classes every other day helped me create some of the best memories I have of that time. Our dance teacher Ms. Smith reminded us of Debbie Allen and when I was in the dancing room I felt like we were dancing stars. Our dance performances were unforgettable — from the stage (舞台), it was fun to see the hall completely filled.
Beyond (除…… 之外) artistic parts, what hangs around most in my memory are the relationships that were created. I had classmates from different backgrounds, each one of them increasing my knowledge in ways that books could not. Looking back, it’s clear that education is not only about textbooks. It includes the people who guide us, the friendships that shape us, and the experiences that form us into different individuals (个人).
24. What do the underlined words “gave me the heebie - jeebies” mean in paragraph2?
A. Worked quite well on me. B. Made me very nervous.
C. Became so clear to me. D. Left me really proud.
25. What do we know about the author at GSHA
A. She was crazy about dancing. B. She was thankful to Ms. Smith.
C. She was a fan of Debbie Allen. D. She was a gifted ballet performer.
26. What did the author realize after her experience
A. Time is money.
B. Hard work pays off.
C. Education goes far beyond books.
D. Different backgrounds shape deep friendships.
27. What is the author’s purpose in writing the text
A. To share her learning methods.
B. To talk about the history of GSHA.
C. To remember her high school teachers.
D. To think back to her high school journey.

Hoh Xil National Nature Reserve(保护区) is located in Qinghai Province. It's home to more than 200 species(物种) of wild animals. These include chirus, yaks, deer and brown bears. Recently, however, a wolf has stolen the show.
In July, 2023, a woman came across a skinny wolf while driving through Hoh Xil. The wolf looked hungry at the time. Out of kindness, the woman got out of the car and offered it some beef jerky. She later posted a video of her experience online. The video attracted many tourists to the area to feed the hungry wolf. Three months later, the wolf again caught public attention with noticeable changes in its size. In a recent video, the wolf can be seen as much larger and fatter. More surprisingly, it has learned to beg(乞讨) tourists for food!
Feeding wild animals isn't an unusual practice among tourists in the area. In addition to wild wolves, brown bears have also received their share of handouts from visitors. Last October, a netizen posted a video in which tourists fed several wild brown bears at a scenic spot, saying that these bears often got close to the village for food and that there seemed to be a "harmonious" (和谐的) relationship between locals and bears.
However, experts warn that such behavior can have bad effects on these animals, as they may become increasingly dependent on humans. "Reserve has a complex food chain. Unless an animal is endangered, it's better to stay away from it," said Dai Qiang, an animal researcher. "And wild animals may carry bacteria (细菌). Getting too close to them can be dangerous."
The woman offered beef jerky because she wanted to ______.
A. help the hungry wolf
B. make friends with the wolf
C. get close to the wolf
D. record a video of the wolf
29. What can we learn from the video posted last October
A. Villagers often sell food to visitors.
B. Locals call on people to protect the area.
C. Quite a few tourists like feeding wild animals.
D. A visitor got hurt when getting close to the bear.
30. What does Dai Qiang think of feeding wild animals
A. It will increase humans' dependence on nature.
B. It may harm the animals and be a risk to humans.
C. It is a good way to protect the endangered animals.
D. It improves the relationship between humans and animals.
31. What can be the best title for the text
A. Tourists in Hoh Xil
B. From Hunter to Beggar
C. Animals in Hoh Xil
D. From Visitor to Villager

A school has created its very own bakery (面包店) to sell cakes and bread directly to a coffee shop to help develop children’s real-life business skills.
Castle Newnham Bakery was started by GCSE hospitality and catering (酒店与餐饮业) pupils at the Bedford school which now sells its goods (商品) to Mooch Coffee in the town.
The partnership came about when Martin Jenkins, a partner at the shop, attended his son’s sports day at Castle Newnham School. He bought some sweet treats made by the catering pupils and was so impressed with the taste that he asked for an order.
Now, every Thursday, the pupils bake different kinds of cakes after school. They work in the school kitchen. The finished food is collected on Friday morning and taken to the store.
Chloe, 14, said: “Baking for Mooch Coffee is my favourite part of the week. I love the experience of working in the industrial kitchen and using the large equipment (设备) to bake the cakes each week.”
Precious, 15, said: “I love visiting the coffee shop at the weekend and seeing our cakes being sold to the local community.”
Asi, 15, said: “I would love to own a bakery when I am older, so this is the perfect experience.”
Mat Dunkley, another partner at the shop, said: “It’s just wonderful, we don’t treat them any differently because they’re children, we treat them like any other supplier (供应商). I’m proud of the partnership. We’re paying for a service and it gives pupils the chance to learn hands-on experience in hospitality, completing the full catering cycle by also supporting the community. We are also planning to do more including working with the school to host music evenings to further add to the pupils’ learning journey.”

Text 10
W: One day, Murphy went to a doctor to talk about his wife. He said to the doctor, “Doctor, I think my wife is deaf because she never hears me the first time and I always have to say things again and again.” “Well,” the doctor answered, “go home and stand about 15 feet from her and say something to her. If she doesn’t answer, move about 5 feet closer and say it again. Keep doing this so that we’ll get an idea about how serious her deafness is.” Sure enough, Murphy went home and did exactly as the doctor told him. He stood about 15 feet from his wife in the kitchen as she was cutting some vegetables and said, “Betty, what’s for dinner ” He heard no answer. He moved about 5 feet closer and asked again. No answer. He moved 5 feet closer. Still no answer. He got fed up and moved right behind her, about an inch away, and asked again, “Betty, what’s for dinner ” Betty said, “That’s the fourth time you asked me. They are meatballs.”
