The Rickshaw (人力车) Run is one of the world’s most special races. It lasts for 14 days and takes place in India. Each team is made up of one rickshaw and one to four drivers. The rickshaw is designed to carry light things over short journey, which makes the event such a challenge.
The race takes place twice a year, once in the summer and once in the winter. The route (路线) changes, but the journey is always about 2,500 km. The race is a lot of fun, but it also has a serious side. All participants (参与者) should raise at least 1,000 for charity.
The first race took place in 2006 with 34 teams. Since then, the Rickshaw Run has become famous worldwide. A few years before the race, if participants don’t know how to drive a rickshaw, they will receive a crash course to make sure they can control it during the race. They can also use the pre-race time to decorate their rickshaws, show them off, and ask any last-minute questions.
“The adventure really starts when things go wrong,” said one participant. “We blew a hole in our rickshaw, but I saw the most beautiful town in India,” said another. And as the organizers say on their website, “There is no set route, no backup, no way of knowing if you are going to make it. The only thing for sure is that you will get lost, you will get stuck and you will break down.”

The Rise of Robot Vacuums: A Helpful Cleaning Friend
Robot vacuums are smart machines that help clean our homes. They move around by themselves, picking up dirt and dust, so we don’t have to do all the work. Let’s take a look at the amazing robot vacuum.
Why Robot Vacuums Are Great
The best thing about robot vacuums is how much time they save us. Regular vacuums can be tiring and time-consuming, but robot vacuums clean on their own. We can set a time for them to start, and while they work, we can relax or focus on other tasks.
Cleaning Without Noise
Another advantage is that they work quietly. Unlike regular vacuums, which need someone to hold and operate them, robot vacuums can clean while we’re out. By the time we return, the floors are clean, and there’s no noise to disturb us.
Smart Technology
Robot vacuums are very smart! They have special sensors (传感器) that help them move around the house, avoid furniture, and know when to stop. Some models can even connect to phones, allowing us to control them with a tap.
Things to Think About
However, robot vacuums have limitations (局限). They might not work well on thick carpets or pick up large pieces of dirt. Too much clutter (杂物) can also cause them to get stuck. Additionally, some models can be expensive, so it’s important to think carefully before buying one.
6.What is the best thing about robot vacuums
7.To avoid noise, when can robot vacuums get to work
8.What helps robot vacuums avoid furniture
9.What are the limitations of robot vacuums mentioned in the text (写出一个答案即可)
10.Robots can help people in different ways. Give another example about how robots help people. (答案要与文中例句不同)

Nowadays, many people choose to watch movie summaries (总结) through short videos. But many directors said that audience (观众) should visit the cinema instead of just watching a 3-minute video summary on the phone. Here, some students are discussing whether short movie summaries are enough.
Yu Cheng, a 16-year-old boy
A short movie video can make people interested. It is exciting and it makes people love the movie right away. Also, different video makers tell a movie story in their own way. By watching these different views on the story, we can learn to think about things from different angles (角度). This helps us get better at understanding movies more deeply.
Jia Yi, a 15-year-old girl
Since we live in a fast-paced (快节奏的) world, a short video makes it more convenient for us to get information. Sometimes, people are interested in a new movie but they don’t have time to see it. This would help people save time and money. Some people think short videos cause misunderstandings. But don’t worry! We can always go to the cinema and see the movies for ourselves.
Shao Xinyan, a 13-year-old girl
People watch movies to feel the emotions. When people watch a movie fully, they can remember the story for a long time. This helps people think about it deeply. However, short video summaries make it difficult to feel these emotions. Also, there may be some mistakes in short videos, so people might get wrong ideas about movies. As such, I believe it is better to watch a movie from the beginning to the end.
Cui Luoyao, a 14-year-old boy
Every excellent film has its special features. It cannot be told clearly in only a few minutes. Also, everyone is different so we may have different ideas about the same movie. Some may believe a movie is a must-see, but others may say it is bad. If we just follow what short video makers say, then we may be misled by others’ opinions and miss some great movies. So we should go and see the complete movie ourselves to make our own judgment.
No matter which way we choose to watch a movie, there are both advantages and disadvantages. We can make different choices to meet our needs.
11.What does Yu Cheng think of a short movie video
12.According to Jia Yi, what is the advantage of watching a 3-minute video summary
13.Why does Cui Luoyao think people can’t just follow what short video makers say
14.From Shao Xinyan’ s and Cui Luoyao’ s opinions, how should we see a movie
15.Which way do you like to watch a movie Why do you like it

Today, QR codes (二维码) are everywhere in our lives. However, scanning (扫描) them a lot might sometimes feel like a burden (负担). Is scanning QR codes for everything really convenient What do you think
Some people think using QR codes is convenient for us. We can scan a QR code to get on the bus without using cash. When you’re at a store, you just need to show the QR code on your phone. Then you have paid for your toys or snacks. You don’t need to worry about getting the numbers wrong. Also QR codes help us get lots of information, and it’s all fast and right. For example, in the zoo, there are QR codes everywhere. Scan them and you can learn all kinds of amazing facts about animals, like having a personal tour guide right on your phone.
But some people think scanning QR codes feels like a burden now in our everyday lives.
First, it takes more time. Back in the day, ordering food at a restaurant was simple—just talk to the waiter! Now, you might need to take out your phone and scan a QR code to follow a restaurant or an official account (公众号). If there’s no Internet, you can’t even do that. Also when you scan some QR codes, there might be pop-up (弹出) ads. They may take you to some other pages. Or you need to share more of your information. Later, you may get calls and junk messages. Next, payment by scanning code has the risk of disclosing customer information. If it is improperly used or leaked, it will infringe (侵犯) on the rights and interests of customers.
We believe that the regulatory authorities will gradually establish a sound mechanism to make scanning code consumption safer and smoother.
20.How can we pay for the toys or snacks without using cash at a store
21.What can we learn by scanning the QR code of the zoo

Sometimes people come into your life and you know that they are there to teach you a lesson, or to help you understand who you are or who you want to become.
You never know these people who may be a classmate, a neighbor or a friend — but when you lock your eyes on them, you know that at that very moment they will influence your life in some ways.
Sometimes things that happen to you may seem unpleasant, painful, or frustrating at first. But in another way, you find that without getting over those difficulties, you would have never realized your ability, strength or will power (意志力).
The people you meet and the success you get help to create who you are and who you become. Even the bad experiences can be learned from. In fact, they are sometimes the most important ones.
If someone loves you, give love back to them in the way you can, not only because they love you, but because in a way, they are teaching you to love and how to open your heart and eyes to things.
If someone hurts you, or breaks your heart, forgive them, for they have helped you learn about trust and the importance of being careful of people around.
Self-confidence is necessary to a person. If you’re not confident, it will be hard for others to believe in you. Learn a lesson in life each day you live!

26.What is the advantage you can get from unpleasant things

An ancient philosopher’s wisdom (哲学家的智慧) can be compared in value to gold. Now The Art of War (《孙子兵法》) by the great thinker Sun Tzu has actually been printed on gold. There are 5,000 of these books in bookstores across China, costing 19,600 yuan each.
Known as the world’s oldest book on military strategy (兵法), it was firstly written on bamboo strips. Sun Tzu lived in about 500 BC in the late Spring and Autumn Period. There is little information about Sun Tzu’s real life.
But according to one story, the king asked Sun Tzu to show his way of training the army. Two groups of the king’s women played the soldiers and two of the king’s favourites acted as commanders (指挥官). Sun Tzu gave them orders, but they thought it was just a game and couldn’t stop laughing. Sun Tzu said, “If the order is not clear, it’s my fault (错), but if the order is clear and soldiers don’t obey, it’s the commanders’ fault.” He then killed the two commanders, although the king wanted to protect them. When Sun Tzu gave new orders, all of them performed perfectly.
Sun Tzu’s book became popular with leaders in Asia and later in the West. In 1782, a Frenchman named Amiot took the book to Europe. It is said that Napoleon used its ideas while fighting in Europe.
The Art of War is today used in business, sport, and even relationships. Sun Tzu is possibly the most quoted (被引用的) Chinese in the world. One saying is, “If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles.”

When I first thought about the question why people do sports, I was running. I didn’t know why I thought about that, but I found it interesting. The main reasons that I found are as follows.
Amusement (消遣)
A lot of people see doing sports as a way of amusement because it takes them away from their daily problems. Doing sports helps them to relax. When they come back home after exercising, they will feel different and relaxed.
Losing weight
Some people do sports to lose weight. Different people may want to lose weight for different reasons. Some may not feel good when they are among a lot of thin people. Some may just want to look nicer and others may want to be stronger and healthier.
Keeping fit
Have you ever asked yourself, “Why am I feeling so bad ” or “Why am I having a headache ” Well, perhaps you don’t get enough exercise. If that is the case, you should go out and take exercise. I am sure you will improve your health and feel better.
Work requirements
Some jobs have special requirements about people’s bodies. For example, a boxer (拳击手) must have a strong body while a model has to be slim(苗条的). So they take exercise to meet their work requirements.
Nothing else to do
Sometimes, people take exercise just because they don’t know what else to do. So taking exercise is just a way for them to kill time.

Nowadays, it seems that we cannot live without technology. We learn, work and relax by using phones, computers, iPads, AI robots and so on. Now, let’s see what’s going on in Julie’s life.
Julie usually wakes up at the ring of a mobile phone. Then, she eats her breakfast with a video on the phone. When she gets to her company, she deals with the business on the computer. And she often downloads (下载) and stores things that she needs on her iPad. When she needs something, she can just turn on the iPad and search for it. She carries the iPad wherever she is on business because it’s light and convenient. When she is at home in the evening, she uses a smart AI chat robot to write her projects. She only needs to type in some key words and then she can get some ideas in a second. It can make her use less time to do more things. In the late evening, she always falls asleep to the soft music from Xiaodu.
Julie lives with technology, and so do we. However, technology brings us some problems at the same time. Staring at screens too much is bad for our eyes. Many of us are near-sighted or have other eye problems. AI is making some of us unwilling to think and explore on our own. We may copy ideas from AI robots. Team Spirit
Team spirit means the willingness of people to work together and help each other as part of a team. With this spirit, people try hard to make their team the best of all. Everyone has experienced team spirit one way or another, whether they were part of a team or saw a group of people cheer for their favorite player or team.
There are different kinds of team spirit. One kind is the connection between a team of people because their efforts and cooperation are necessary in reaching a particular goal. Another kind is when a group of people support a person or a team. Another is people’s natural love for and pride in their country, when a whole nation cheers for its country in competitions.
Team spirit creates various good effects. It creates friendship and trust between people who may not get along when they don’t have such team spirit. There may also be bad effects. Too great team spirit may cause arguments or fights with other team members.
Some people don’t understand team spirit properly. They think team spirit means having to become an official member of an organization, team or fan club. In fact, team spirit can be built anywhere—between friends, coworkers or even between two people sitting next to each other. You don’t have to be wearing the team spirit clothes. Anyone can show team spirit just by showing support for the goal.
