can是常见的情态动词,不能独立作谓语,其后需接动词原形。它没有人称和数的变化。can的否定形式为can not, 其缩略形式为can’t/cannot, can’t多用于口语,cannot更加正式。can可表示能力、推测、允许、请求等,本单元主要讲解can表示能力的用法。
语法概述
情态动词(Modal verbs):表示说话人对动作的态度,比如:需要,可能,意愿,猜测或者怀疑等等。情态动词主要有下列: can (could), may (might), must, need, ought to, dare (dared), shall (should), will (would)

肯定句 主语 + can + 动词原形 + 其他.

can的其他用法:
1. can作为情态动词,可以表示请求或允许 。
Can I use your pencil 我可以用一下你的铅笔吗?
You can sit down.你可以坐下。
注意:表示请求或允许时,在口语中常用OK,sure或certainly等作肯定回答;用sorry等作否定回答。

2. can也可以用于推测,表示可能性 。常用于否定句和疑问句。此时can't译为“不可能”
