Step 1 Tasks Introduction Introduce the module task and unit tasks, making students clearly understand what to achieve in this lesson. Show the notice from Hainan Library about collecting English travel guidebooks about Hainan. Present the module task (To make a guidebook of Hainan area) and unit tasks (To make, assess and polish the guidebook; To introduce Hainan to foreigners by using a guidebook). 教师通过提问确认学生是否理解任务内容。
设计意图(Purpose):明确学习任务,激发学生制作旅行指南的兴趣和积极性,让学生清楚学习方向。

Step 2 Think Inspire students' thinking, help them understand the key elements of a good travel guidebook, and provide ideas for the subsequent production. Ask students “What makes a good travel guidebook ” and present key elements like layout (clear and neat), content (scenic spots, people, ways of life, events during the trip), visual elements (pictures/photos/graphics, colors), and language (proper and vivid). 观察学生课堂反应和参与讨论情况进行评价。

Step 3 Group Work - Guidebook Making Cultivate students' teamwork ability, information collection and processing ability, and improve their comprehensive language application ability through practical operation. Students work in groups to make a travel guidebook of Hainan. Provide an example of a New York travel guidebook. Suggest group division of labor (information collector, text creator, illustrator and graphic designer, picture arranger) and task details. Remind students to draw or paste beautiful pictures and welcome various formats. 教师巡视小组制作过程,适时给予指导和建议。

Step 4 Assessment and Feedback Enable students to understand the evaluation criteria of excellent travel guidebooks, and promote self - improvement through teacher - assessment, peer - assessment and self - assessment. - 教师评估(Teachers’ assessment):Show the teacher assessment form, evaluate from aspects such as content, language, visual elements, and layout, and give examples and scores. - 同伴互评(Peer - assessment):Groups exchange assessment sheets, complete peer - assessment according to criteria, and give advice. - 自我评估(Self - assessment):Students complete the self - assessment form according to the evaluation criteria. 依据评估标准对学生作品进行打分和评价。

Step 5 Production - Guidebook Polishing Develop students' learning attitude of self - improvement and strive for perfection, and further improve the quality of travel guidebooks. Students polish their travel guidebooks according to the assessment results from aspects like layout, content, visual elements, and language. 教师检查学生完善后的作品并给予反馈。
设计意图(Purpose):培养学生精益求精的态度,巩固所学知识和技能,提高作品质量。

Step 6 Presentation and Communication Improve students' presentation and communication skills, and promote mutual learning among students through gallery walk and role - play. - 画廊漫步(Gallery Walk):Students work in groups of four. Choose a guidebook to present, a presenter to introduce and promote it, a note - taker to record feedback, and the rest to learn and give feedback. Finally, vote for the best guidebook. - 角色扮演(Role - play):Set a situation that students meet two foreign friends on their way home who ask about visiting Hainan. Students use the travel guidebook in hand to introduce Hainan. Provide a sample dialogue and an evaluation form covering aspects like language accuracy, fluency, content integrity, etc. 根据展示和角色扮演表现,结合评价表进行评价。
设计意图(Purpose):让学生将所学知识运用到实际写作中,提升写作能力。
Step7 Post-writing 通过互评互纠提升写作能力,掌握提升写作质量的方法。 Share and Access:同桌交换打分,说明理由并纠错;小组交流推优,说明理由并纠错。 Improve:引导学生总结提升写作的方法,如审题目、列提纲、用技巧、查篇章 评价学生在互评中的参与度和评价的准确性,如能否准确指出问题和提出改进建议。
设计意图(Purpose):锻炼学生展示和交流能力,让学生在互动中学习他人长处,提升语言运用和实际交流能力。

Step8 Summary and Reflection Help students summarize what they have learned, reflect on difficulties and gains, and improve learning ability. Students fill in the Module Diary, including what they have learnt (knowledge and skill), what they know through the module, helpful ways of learning, and what they have difficulty in. 教师检查学生的模块日记,给予反馈和鼓励。
设计意图(Purpose):引导学生总结学习内容,反思学习过程,培养总结和反思能力。
Homework: Must do: Polish the travel guidebook and submit it to the Library of Hainan Province. Seek help to solve the difficulties in this module. Optional: Design an English tourist slogan about Hainan and add it to the guidebook.
