"I've got a great idea!" Jake said suddenly as he and Jennifer were enjoying cold juice on a hot day.
"What " Jennifer asked.
"Let's have a Community Olympics!" Jake said.
Jennifer smiled. "That sounds fun," she said.
Both of them were looking forward to watching the Summer Olympics that would be starting in just a few weeks. Jake loved watching all the different sports, while Jennifer was especially excited about swimming and diving (跳水运动).
Just then, Jake's mum came outside. "What's up " she asked.
Jake shared his idea about organizing a Community Olympics, and his mum's eyes lit up. "It's a wonderful idea," she said. "I can help you plan it!"
For the next hour or so, the three of them talked about what games they could have, where the event could take place, and what prizes could be given out. They finally decided that they would have ten games, like a running race, a swimming race, a basketball free-throw contest, and a tennis match.
"When should we hold this Community Olympics " Jake's mum asked.
Jennifer thought for a moment. "Not during the real Olympics. Everyone will be too busy watching it on TV!"
"How about the Saturday before " Jake asked.
"Perfect!" Jennifer and Jake's mum agreed. "It will be a fun start to the real Olympics!"
Jake's mum then called the park and the gym to make sure they would be available (可使用的). Jake and Jennifer worked on the computer. They prepared colourful posters to share with all their neighbours.
On the day of the event, the sun was shining, and many families came to join. Each family gave a little money, which helped buy medals (奖牌) and a big cake.

Leon Martin knows the answer for himself. Martin is 18 years old and lives in England. He hopes to become a UX designer. UX stands for "User Experience". A UX designer helps make websites (网站) and apps easy and fun to use. In 2017, a famous painting called A Thousand Li of Rivers and Mountains was on show at the Palace Museum in Beijing. This 900-year-old artwork attracted (吸引) lots of people. Among them was Gui Haowen, then a 16-year-old high school student.
Gui took some photos with her phone, but they didn't show the painting's beauty well. This made her want to learn more about photography and start taking pictures of cultural relics (文物).
However, taking photos in museums isn't easy. Museums don't let visitors use flash or tripods (闪光灯或三脚架), and the lights are often not very bright. "Taking a clear photo in those conditions is difficult," Gui said. But she didn't give up. She tried to be creative. For example, when she took a photo of a silver bowl, she used the shadows (阴影) to make it look like an ink painting. To get the perfect shot, she took over 200 photos!
Gui didn't just take photos. She also studied the history of cultural relics. By understanding their stories, she could take better photos of them. Gui visited around 60 museums and took countless pictures. Whenever she travelled to a new city, a trip to the museum was always at the top of her list.
In 2022, Gui began sharing her cultural relic photos online. Many young people enjoy her work and are becoming more interested in Chinese culture.
This year, Gui will begin her studies at the University of Southern California in the US. She hopes to take photos of Chinese cultural relics that have been lost overseas (在海外). "If possible, I want to be the eyes that bring their beauty to more people," she said.
