On 19 September 2025, an outdoor company, Arc' teryx, and artist Cai Guoqiang presented a fireworks show named" ascending Dragon" in the Himalayas. They said the event was to" honour nature". However, it quickly turned into a big problem.
The problem was simple(不言而喻): after the 52- second show ended, the organizers left the high mountain meadow(草甸) at 4,500 meters covered in rubbish.
When CCTV reporters filmed the place, people didn't see art; they saw copper wires, plastic barrels, and holes in the grass everywhere for the fireworks. You could see the mess, but the organizers still said they had“ finished” cleaning up. It made the public very angry. Their promise to“ get close to nature” was empty, because what they did went directly against (背道而驰) it.
The company also said the fireworks were“ good for the earth”. They said the materials would go away naturally. But smart people said this is not true. On the high mountain, the air is thin and the climate is very cold, so the rubbish will not go away for hundreds of years. The grass will need one hundred years to grow back. So, the“ good for the earth” story was like a lie.
Interestingly, a talk from the artist Cai Guoqiang was shared online. He had thanked everyone for“ supporting us in making some noise in this wonderful place”. After what happened, his words seemed unkind.
Finally, both the company and the artist had to apologize. Their show was loud but short. It taught everyone a clear lesson: True love for nature isn't about a big performance. It is about being quiet and leaving only your footprints.
21. What was the purpose (目的) of the fireworks show according to the organizers
A. To show love for nature. B. To become famous online.
C. To make money for the company. D. To test new fireworks technology.
22. Why does the writer say“ The problem was simple” in paragraph 2
A. Because the cleanup would be an easy task.
B. Because the fireworks show was very short.
C. Because their goal was very clear to anyone.
D. Because the mess they left was easy to see.
23. What did CCTV reporters find at the site after the show
A. Nothing unusual. B. New plants growing.
C. Beautiful art and happy people. D. Different kinds of rubbish and holes.
24. What does Paragraph 4 mainly want to tell us
A. A difficult task of cleaning up. B. A beautiful lie that hurts nature.
C. A new way to make fireworks. D. A scientific study of the mountain.
25. Which best shows the change in people's feelings throughout the event
A. Interested→angry→sad. B. Surprised→bored→angry.
C. Angry→happy→surprised. D. Bored→interested→excited.
