Seasons around the world
In ancient times, Chinese people noticed the changes in seasons and weather. They divided the year into 24 parts-these are the 24 Solar Terms.
The terms start with the Beginning of Spring and end with the Major Cold. They show changes in crop growth, temperature and other weather conditions.
Today many farmers still use the 24 Solar Terms to help decide what to do in their fields. The terms also have important cultural meanings beyond farming. Some of them are connected with traditional festivals. They have had a positive effect on Chinese culture for thousands of years.
