Have you seen the yellow flowering trees in Shenzhen The trees are called the Yellow Trumpet (风铃) Trees because their flowers take on the shape of trumpets.
They are native to Central and South America but are loved worldwide for their beauty. During spring, the trees bloom (开花), covering themselves with groups of golden-yellow flowers. These flowers are so bright that the trees look like they are shining! When the trees bloom, their green leaves usually fall off, leaving only the yellow flowers, which create an amazing view.
The trees can grow quite tall, reaching up to 25 meters, and their branches spread wide, providing plenty of shade. Their flowers attract bees, butterflies and so on, making them not just pretty but also helpful to the environment. The flowering period lasts for about a month. After the flowers fall off, the trees produce long, thin pockets that carry their seeds.
Apart from being beautiful, they are also useful. Their wood is strong and last long, often used for building and making furniture. The trees are easy to care for and can grow in many types of soil, though they love sunny places. The only disadvantage is that they don’t stand up to wind well.

From “eating dazi” (饭搭子) to “working out dazi” to “traveling dazi”, a new social trend (趋势) is taking off in China among young people. Dazi often refers to “side-by-side” or just “activity partner” in Chinese. It means people find new ways to connect with others and share their hobbies.
Dazi makes social life easier and more comfortable. Unlike traditional friends who often need to hang out with each other and keep in close contact, a dazi is a more relaxed social partner. Getting along with a dazi means one doesn’t have to accommodate (迁就) the other because of different interests and hobbies, which will greatly reduce social costs.
In China, many young people are turning to dazi relationships to deal with their busy lives. Dazi is a quick and convenient way to socialize (社交) without a long-term promise. It provides a way for young people to build social connections and fight against loneliness, without needing to care too much about each other like in close relationships. Moreover, social media makes it easy to find people with shared interests for certain activities.
However, finding a “dazi” often comes with some hazards. This includes meeting strangers in person, which can put you at risk of harm. So be careful when meeting an online dazi. To stay safe, always meet your online “dazi” in public and let someone know where you are going.
A short-term friendship formed through dazi can probably turn into a long-term relationship. While a dazi relationship is typically started for a certain activity, shared experiences and interests can lead to a deeper connection over time. If both parties are willing to spend time and effort developing a stronger relationship, it is possible for the friendship to become a long-term relationship. However, it’s important to respect each other’s personal space when building a relationship, without getting too involved or crossing any lines.

Think about how much time you spent outside last week. Really “outside”. Walking from the car into the mall doesn’t count.
Now think about how much time you spent indoors—on the Internet or playing video games or watching TV.
You may say, “I play inside more than outside and I like to play games on the computer.”
If so, it’s likely that you spent more time inside four walls than outside in fresh air. Kids today spend two fewer hours per week on sports and outdoor activities than kids did 20 years ago. That’s according to a University of Michigan study. Non-moving activities are more popular. The costs “include overweight, greater stress, higher rates of physical and emotional illness and less joy, …” says Richard Louv, writer of Last Child in the Woods: Saving Our Children from Nature-Deficit Disorder:
Play is important, even for adults. _________
Outdoor activity betters your senses. The next time you sit down to message your friends, take note of your senses during and after your texting. Then do the same experiment after you’ve done something outside. You will find being outdoors brings the senses to life. “Hiking, exploring, and fishing help hone all of your senses,” says Betsy Keller. She’s a professor of exercise and sports sciences at Ithaca College in New York. “Smell, sight … all of your senses are in use when you’re outside.”
Outdoor play frees your mind. Are you stressed out Having trouble devoting your mind to what you’re doing Too much time indoors— away from the natural world—may be a cause. Louv uses a term to describe the set of problems caused by too much time indoors: nature deficit disorder. He says, “I use it to describe the price we pay for being so separated from nature.”
Spending time outdoors brings you closer to the environment. When you’re out, breathe in fresh air, hear the leaves crackle underfoot and search for cool birds and plants in the woods. It can help you feel more connected to the natural world. No woods nearby Nature can be found right outside your back door or in your local park.
So the next time you sit down to spend quality (高质量的) time with a video game, consider treating yourself to a little outdoor play instead.

Emotional toughness (韧性) is the ability to stay strong and focused when facing challenges or criticism (批评). Many successful people, like Alexander Graham Bell and the Wright Brothers, had this quality. 26 Instead, it means standing up for your beliefs and setting clear boundaries (界限).
To develop emotional toughness, we can follow these steps. One way is to learn who to trust. Emotionally tough people sometimes make mistakes at judging others but they learn from them and avoid repeating them. 27 By taking small actions outside your daily schedules, you can build confidence and prepare for bigger challenges.
28 Emotionally tough people stay healthy by exercising, sleeping well, and eating balanced meals. They stick to their routines even when they don’t feel like it.
Building positive relationships is the fourth key step. Emotionally tough people spend time with those who inspire and support them. 29
Finally, focus on your own goals instead of comparing yourself to others. Emotionally tough people set clear goals, celebrate their achievements, and keep moving forward. They don’t waste time worrying about what others think.
30 It’s a skill that can be developed through practice and good habits. By following these steps, we can become stronger and better prepared to face life’s challenges.
A.These relationships provide encouragement, especially during difficult times.
