情境创设Show pictures of humans interacting with plants and animals, such as people picking fruits, bees collecting nectar, and cows providing milk. Then, start a class discussion with the question “What can you see in these pictures How are plants and animals related to us ” Encourage students to share their thoughts.二.任务驱动Step 2: Pre-reading: 1.Display the title “How are plants and animals connected with us ” and the pictures in 1a on the screen. Divide students into groups of 4 - 5. Instruct each group to discuss and guess what the text might be about based on the title and pictures.2.After 3 minutes of group discussion, ask each group to send a representative to share their predictions with the whole class.Step 3: While-reading: Analyze Opinions & Details Fast reading (5 minutes)1.Ask students to quickly read the text and find the main idea of each paragraph. Set a time limit of 2 minutes. Then, invite several students to share their answers. The main ideas are as follows: Para. 1: The connection between people, plants, and animals, with bees as an example of this connection. Para. 2: Bees are hard - working and their important role in pollination. Para. 3: Bees are interesting, especially in terms of how they work together and communicate. Para. 4: The importance of bees in the ecosystem and the problem of the declining bee population.Careful reading (15 minutes)2.Instruct students to read the text again carefully and complete the tasks in 1b and 1c. For 1b, they need to underline the adjectives used to describe bees, such as “hard - working”, “most important”, “most interesting”, “interesting”, “amazing”. For 1c, they should complete the mind map with information from the text, including bees' greatest work (pollination), the number of flowers they visit on one trip (50 - 100), how they help plants (by taking pollen from one flower to another), the problem (their number is dropping), and some interesting facts (working together to make homes, using a dance to communicate food location). After students finish, check the answers together.三.合作探究Step 4: Post-reading: Critical Discussion Divide the class into pairs to discuss the questions in 1d. For example, ask them to give another title for the text, share other interesting facts about bees they know, and talk about the connection between humans and other insects like ants and butterflies. Then, randomly select several pairs to report their discussion results.四.总结提升Summarize the key points of this class, including the importance of bees, their interesting facts, the connection between people, plants, and animals, and the key language knowledge.
