Travel is like a box of chocolates—you never know what you’re going to get, especially when you are using a blind box plane ticket.
Fan Zhihua, who enjoys going wherever she wants and whenever she wants, bought her first blind box plane ticket in March last year. The 29-year-old went to Zhangye, Gansu Province. It’s a lesser-known place, but it actually brings surprises.
When Fan arrived in Zhangye, she found that she was able to share a car with a few other people. This allowed the travelers to save money, since many of the area’s tourist places are far away from each other. So Fan found a group of easy-going young women to join. They went to some tourist places together, but everyone was free to choose their schedule . “The best part of the trip is this way of travelling, free and fantastic,” Fan said.
She got more from the trip. Before that, Fan thought most of the natural scenery(风景)she saw in photos was over-beautified. However, her trip to Dunhuang changed her mind.
After a couple of days in Zhangye, the group decided to leave for Dunhuang. Fan was never a big fan of making travel plans, so she just went along. Fan and her travel pals went on a camel(骆驼)ride, and as they entered the desert, she was amazed at the scenery. “I couldn’t describe it in words. To be honest, I’m not a history lover, but when I was in the endless desert, it was amazing,” Fan said, “I felt like I had become Zhang Qian, traveling to Xiyu.”
Fan believes that life itself is a journey made up of long and short trips. “I think I was brought into this world to have as many experiences as possible and that I should make every day meaningful,” she added.

A. Short. B. Tiring. C. Expensive. D. Wonderful.
56. What might Fan learn from her trip to Dunhuang
A. It’s now or never. B. Seeing is believing.
C. Sharing makes the trip fantastic. D. Actions speak louder than words.
57. Why did Fan mention Zhang Qian
A. To show her respect for him.
B. To introduce the story of Zhang Qian.
C. To express her amazement at the desert.
D. To explain the difficulty of the journey to Xiyu.

Spending time outdoors has long been linked(联系)to better health. Gardening goes beyond just beautifying outdoor spaces—it can have a deep effect on our physical and mental(身心上的)health.
Gardening involves physical activity that works all the main muscle(肌肉)groups, which is helpful for overall health. “Activities such as digging, planting, weeding and harvesting require movement and can help to improve strength,” said Clayton, CEO of an online lawn care company. “Performing these activities regularly can help burn calories, and keep a healthy weight.”
Beyond burning calories and building muscle, lots of studies have shown that gardening can improve the immune system(免疫系统). The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that people get at least 150 minutes of exercise each week, and gardening is listed as a suitable activity. Doing garden work for that time each week can reduce the risk of obesity, high blood pressure and heart disease. Additionally, spending time outdoors makes us get close to natural sunlight, which is important for vitamin D synth.
Gardening provides a chance for social connection, too. It can be a shared activity among family members, friends or neighbors, building relationships and a sense of belonging.
Gardening also offers cognitive(认知的)benefits. It excites the senses, improves focus and encourages problem-solving and creativity. It provides a chance to learn about plants, ecosystems and the environment, developing a deeper understanding and appreciation for nature.

The American Psychological Association (APA) has given some advice about how teenagers use social media. The surprising thing is that we don’t know much about how these apps really influence teenagers.
New social media platforms like Snapchat and TikTok are still quite young. There isn’t a lot of research on how they might affect teenagers’ brains in the long run because they are new. To get more information, we need a lot of money and the tech companies need to be more open about their data(数据).
The little information we have shows that social media uses things that excite young people, but these things might not be beneficial to their brains. “Many kids start using social media when their brains are still developing, which might not be the best time”, says Mitch Prinstein, who studies how people think and how their brains work at the University of North Carolina (UNC) .
Earlier this year, Mitch Prinstein and his friends did a study to see how teenagers’ brains react to social media. They asked some middle school students about how they used social media and then they put them in a big machine called an MRI. This machine can show what’s happening in their brains when they see things on social media that make them feel good or bad. What they found was interesting. The 12-year-olds who often looked at social media had different patterns in their brains. These parts of the brain were more active over time. These areas are important for wanting things, paying attention, and controlling thoughts.
The team didn’t say if those differences in the brain were good or bad, or if social media was the cause or just related to it. But their study shows that we need more research to understand this better. It’s also a reminder for parents to be very careful about how social media might be affecting their kids’ brains, which are still growing and changing.
62. What problem about social media apps does the APA talk about
A. The lack of data on their influence. B. The need for more research money.
C. Influence on how the brain develops. D. Little information about tech companies.
63. What does the underlined word “beneficial” in paragraph 3 mean
A. Harmful. B. Unfavorable. C. Helpful. D. Supportive.
64. What did Prinstein’s team discover about teenagers who often use social media
A. They found it difficult to focus. B. They were more active over time.
C. Their brains showed unique features. D. Their brains had less developed areas.
65. What does the author imply in the last paragraph
A. APA’s advice is accepted.
B. Further study is needed.
C. Social media might be harmful.
D. Children should be stopped using social media.

阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
The biggest risk I’ve ever taken was quitting my job and biking alone across western China. 66 So it was a huge physical challenge but I got stronger every day, and eventually, I could easily bike for eight hours each day.
One of the best parts of the whole experience was the people. I met people from across China and once got to attend a Tibetan wedding—something I never thought I would do. 67 One time I even met a group of Chinese men traveling by motorcycle, who invited me to cook fish that they caught in the lake over a fire with wood. Another instance(例子)was when I met a group of cyclists. They were in their 60s and 70s and still cycling better than I was. 68
The people were some of the best parts of the trip, but mostly each day, I was alone with nature. Throughout the rolling hills and the flowing streams, western China is home to some of the most amazing scenery in the world. 69 With thick forests, icy glaciers(冰川), and peaceful lakes, there is so much to see in China.
70 I got to taste local snacks in every place I went to. There are so many different options! My favorite was the cooking of Sichuan, a province known for its hot flavors and interesting dishes. No matter how much I ate, I never got sick of having different Chinese foods.
It was indeed an experience I will never forget. If anyone has an interest in traveling, I would highly recommend going by bicycle!
A. It simply took my breath away.
B. My family were shocked and tried to talk me out of it.
C. The food was definitely another exciting part of my journey.
D. I had never biked for more than two hours in one day before.
E. It really inspired me to push myself and go farther every day.
F. Travelling by bicycle was actually much cheaper than I thought.
G. The whole event was extraordinary, full of dancing, laughter and fun.
