A disabled man who makes clay pieces on the streets of Chengdu has become popular across the country.
The man, called Mi, lost his hands years ago. He was hurt in an accident and had to cut his hands off. Since then, he has had to live with only his arms. However, he didn't give in(屈服)to difficulties. He learned to eat and get dressed by himself after resting for a year.
Since he married and had three children to take care of, he thought he must find a new way to make a living by himself.
One day, Mi saw an artist making clay pieces in the street. He was interested and decided to learn it.Then he asked the artist to teach him how to make those things. Seeing Mi didn't have hands, the artist didn't accept his request at first. But Mi kept on asking many times. The artist was touched by his resolution and finally decided to teach him.
It was a big challenge for Mi to learn the skills. At the beginning, he could only make simple clay pieces like flowers for the whole afternoon. And his arms were sore after lots of practice. However, he never thought about giving up.
Finally, he learned to make clay pieces in a way that was suitable for himself. He changed the material used to make figures. And he always made cartoon figures which were cuter and easier to make. Now, after thousands of practice, he can make one clay figure in seven minutes and make about thirty clay pieces a day.
Today, Mi can not only make a living by making clay pieces as he used to hope, but also have fun in what he does. Whenever he sits on the ground to make clay pieces, many people will quickly come to watch him. Mi is full of hope for a better future, as he knows his hard work will pay off.
B.根据短文内容,按要求回答问题。(共5小题;每小题2分,计10分)
In the 1970s, plastic shopping bags were hard to see. Today, they have become a common product around the world. You can find them in the dark, deep sea, on the top of Mount Qomolangma, and even in the polar(极地的) areas. Unluckily, the wide use of plastic bags has caused serious problems.
The story of plastic bags began in 1959, when a Swedish designer named Sten Gustaf Thulin created them. Unlike what many people think now, his idea was to save the earth, not hurt it. People used paper bags before plastic bags appeared. But making large numbers of paper bags meant cutting down more trees. So Thulin invented plastic bags that were lighter, stronger and more durable(耐用的) than paper ones. He hoped people would reuse them instead of throwing them away after using them once.
Things did not go as Thulin planned, though. Since plastic bags were cheap to produce, shops gave them for free. This convenience made people step reusing them— often, people just used a plastic bag once to carry things home, and then threw it away.
As a result, plastic bag waste grew rapidly. Their light weight allows the wind to easily carry them into rivers, forests, and the sea. An even bigger problem is their durability: a paper bag breaks down in a few months, while it takes hundreds or even thousands of years for a plastic bag to fully break down. Over time, plastic bags break into very small pieces that pollute the land and water. Animals like fish and birds often eat these pieces by mistake. And finally, the plastic even finds its way back to human tables through the food chain(链).
81. Why did Thulin create the plastic bags
82. What did Thulin expect people to do with plastic bags
83. Why did people stop reusing plastic bags
84. What makes plastic bags an environmental problem according to the last paragraph
85. What would you say to Thulin if you could tell him about plastic bags now
