Mr Wang always tells us to keep our eyes on our own paper. It is a simple rule, but it's not a rule everybody chooses to follow.
This morning, I had an experience with a "rule breaker" during an English exam. I felt somebody was watching me a little too closely. I turned my head quickly and saw James, who sat right behind me. My eyes caught his and he said in a low voice, "I hope you studied for this test!" I gave him a smile, not sure whether he was joking or not, and returned to my test. This time I leaned (倾身) a little more closely towards my paper. "I can't see!" James said.
"What am I going to do " I thought to myself. Cheating (作弊) was against my beliefs. I put my arm on my answers.
"He's your friend, and what are friends for "
"You know it's wrong."
I tapped (轻敲,轻拍) the top of my desk, hoping for an easy way out of this matter. No easy answer came. I just knew I had to do what I felt was right, even if it made James mad. So I guarded my paper so that he couldn't see my answers.
When the exam ended, I stood there for a moment, searching for the right words to say to James. "Sorry, James, but you know me well enough to understand how I feel about cheating," I said slowly and softly. "But maybe I could help you study before the next test." "OK, Brian," he smiled. How wonderful it is we keep good relationships with friends! The best friendship depends on trust, promises, respect and interests. When any of these is missing, it will be hard for people to go on with their friendship. If the trust is broken, it may be hard for you to forgive him. Sometimes the friendship comes to an end just because either you or your friend gets tired of putting the heart into it. This can happen when one of you finds a new friend or even a new hobby that takes up much time. Sometimes you may find the relationship is always going in an unhealthy way and you want some distance. At other times, you simply change and want to get away. It is sure to make you feel sad at the time, but it is quite normal. Not all the friendships are meant to last forever.
What should you do if something like this happens to you Here are some tips for the problem.
Whatever the reason is when you are breaking up with your best friend, remember that he was once super important to you. Take the time to sit down privately and tell him what is going on and why. Don't send him an unpleasant e-mail or just ignore him. In fact, maybe he has known there is a problem and would be willing to have a heart - to - heart chat. If you’re not sure about wanting an end forever, you could suggest you two take a break from each other. If, after a while, you realize why you became the best friends in the beginning, you can try getting back to your good old days. Whatever you do, be honest about your feelings while having respect for him. If you both agree the BFF (short for “best friend forever”) thing is over, make sure not to be enemies. It is always possible for you to be friends again.
30. According to Paragraph 1, the best friendship may end for many reasons EXCEPT ______.
A. You get tired of putting the heart into it.
B. You live far away from each other.
C. You or your friend get a new hobby.
D. You don't believe each other on something.
31. What should you do when breaking up with your best friend
A. Remember how important he was to you.
B. Send him an unpleasant e - mail.
C. Ask him to agree with you.
D. Be sure to become enemies.
32. The underlined word “ignore” means “______” in Chinese.
A. 接受 B. 忽视 C. 尊重 D. 挑战
33. What can be the best title for the passage
A. What is important in good friendship
B. A friend in need is a friend indeed
