Great ideas can start young. Three high school students from India have invented an amazing fridge called Thermavault. What's special about it It doesn't need electricity to work. People just need to pour salt into a special box in it, add water, and mix. Then it can keep food and medicine cool for hours.
The team worked hard to improve their invention. They tested 15 kinds of salt to find out the best. They also tried to work with scientists. Many doctors helped them too.“We have been able to keep the medicine inside Thermavault for almost 10 to 12 hours,” one of the three said.
Thermavault can make a big difference to people's life. It can help them keep food and medicine. Moreover, it's a wonderful idea for a greener future because it's friendly to the environment. Also, people needn't pay much for using it.
The good news is that these students' creativity won them the 2025 Earth Prize and $12,500 as the prize. However, they won't stop their research here. Instead, they will use the money to build 200 fridges and test them in 120 hospitals.
Our world needs more ideas like this.
