Mike was not happy these days in class. One of his teachers noticed (注意到) this. He called Mike
out and asked ,“ I often see you sitting alone. What’s the matter ”
Mike said ,“ I lost the football match and did badly in one exam. Every time I think of them, I feel
upset. ” Listening to this, the teacher asked Mike to come to his house on the weekend.
When Mike got to the teacher’s house , the teacher welcomed him and asked ,“ Would you like to
drink a cup of lemon (拧棒) water ” Mike answered ,“ Yes, please. ” The teacher brought a cup of
lemon water to him. As soon as Mike drank it, he made a strange face. Seeing this, the teacher asked,
“ Don’t you like it ”
Mike said ,“There is too much salt in it. ”

The teacher said ,“ Oh, no problem. I will throw it away and make a new cup. "
As the teacher was going to pick up the cup, Mike stopped him and said ,“Sir, there is no need to
throw it away. If we add some sugar to it, it will be fine. "
“ Good. Now think about this. Too much salt in lemon water is like the bad experience we have in
life. To enhance the taste, we don’t need to throw it away. Instead (反之) , we add sugar. Similarly, we
cannot control the happening of terrible (糟幸兰的) things in our life. But we can make our life better by
adding something good ,” the teacher said.
Mike finally understood what he should do.
