书面表达(满分25分)
I was looking at myself in the mirror when my sister approached. Her big, innocent eyes searched my face, filled with both curiosity and a hint of admiration. “Are you really going to do it ” she asked softly, her voice breaking the silence. I took a deep breath, feeling a mix of fear and determination. “Yes, I am,” I replied, forcing a smile. “She clapped her hands and exclaimed, “We’ll be twins!” The first few strokes felt strange, but with each pass of the razor, I felt lighter, as if I were shedding not just my hair, but also my fears and insecurities.
“It’s beautiful. Please also help shave our heads,” our parents smiled. Their approval warmed my heart, and I could see the love in their eyes as they watched this moment unfold. As we stood in front of the mirror, I realized that our bald heads symbolized more than just a physical change; they represented our unity and strength in facing her battle against cancer. We were not just a family; we were warriors, ready to take on whatever challenges lay ahead, side by side.

M: No, I want us to go as a group.
Text 2
W: I heard on the news that we’re finally going to be getting some rain in the next few days.
M: That’s good news. This has been one of the driest months on record, so I’m sure the trees really need it.
Text 3
W: What a wonderful wedding that was. It will be a big task to sweep up all that litter.
M: The rules of the wedding hall say throwing colored paper is banned. Throwing rice is okay and even bits of torn up newspaper are allowed.
W: That’s crazy.
Text 4

W: In today’s class, we will do a role-playing exercise to better understand what life was like during the industrial revolution in Europe in the late 18th and early 19th century. All the information you need is in the instruction sheet in front of you. First, I will need to separate the class into three groups. Each group represents a different class during that time period. The first group will represent the upper class and play the role of owners of businesses in the city. The second group will represent the middle to lower class and play the role of business managers. The third group will represent and play the role of the working class. This last group will consist of different types of working-class families, such as single parent families and families who lost their parents. In addition to those groups, I will need two students to represent the bank and two to represent security officers. Each group will have a specific set of goals they must reach by the end of class while trying to follow city rules like paying taxes and keeping the city at peace. Any questions 2025-2026学年度秋学期期中联考试卷

4-Day Moab Discovery
Welcome to the motorcycle journey through the beauty of Moab, Utah.

You can ride across the rocky landscape, and the White Rim Trail provides a true experience of the natural masterpiece of Moab, with each turn revealing a new aspect of its breathtaking beauty.
Day 3
After finishing the White Rim Trail, you’ll spend a day doing your own thing in Moab, where the adventure continues at your preferred speed. Explore the world-famous Arches National Park or the area along the Colorado River. Every rider can find the perfect way to experience this adventure capital.

If you look around your city, you might spot girls wearing hanfu in subways or people wearing T-shirts with Chinese characters on the streets. A new trend is taking hold in China — guochao, or “China chic”.
The term characterizes the rise of China’s native fashion trends. It has expanded the concept of “Made in China”, which has been recognized as the representation of Chinese culture and aesthetics (美学) offered by homegrown Chinese brands.
China-chic came into the spotlight in 2018. Before that, big-name foreign companies, such as NIKE, ADIDAS and PUMA, dominated the world market. But that year, Chinese sportswear brand Li-Ning changed things up. During the 2018 New York Fashion Week, Li-Ning introduced its Taoism-inspired Wu Dao collection. The collection not only had a trendy look, but also included elements of traditional Chinese culture. It immediately grabbed attention at home and abroad. As a result, the company recorded 20 percent profit growth in 2018, marking the first time the brand’s revenue had hit the 10-billion-yuan mark since its founding.
The trend to embrace domestic brands has since spread rapidly to various sectors and products, from food and drinks to clothing, mobile phones and electric vehicles. For example, White Rabbit, whose sweet candy brings back childhood memories for many, launched its perfume and lip balm. “We want White Rabbit to be a brand that young people want to share,” said Shen Qinfeng, the company’s marketing manager.
“Now, the guochao trend is moving to the next stage, where its success will rely. First and foremost, on gaining cultural confidence rather than Western recognition.” according to Kerra Zhou, founder of brand strategy consultancy Kerrisma. No matter how the guochao trend develops, there’s one thing that won’t change: Behind the craze is people’s positive attitude toward the country’s development and their recognition of growing confidence in national culture, added Zhou.
24.What’s the function of Paragraph 1
A.To introduce a new trend in China. B.To highlight the popularity of guochao.
C.To describe a common scene on the street. D.To show Chinese brands beat foreign companies.
25.Which of the following statements about guochao is correct
A.Guochao is a new trend popular throughout the world.
B.Li-Ning stimulated the development of guochao.
C.Guochao refers to people’s preference for ancient culture.
D.It’s before 2018 that guochao had received great attention.
26.Why did Li-Ning get so much attention during the 2018 New York Fashion Week
A.It took the lead in the similar brands.
B.It adopted Western design in its sportswear.
C.Its products followed the trend and reflected Chinese elements.
D.Its revenue hit the 10-billion-yuan mark that year.
27.What may Kerra Zhou agree with
A.Chinese is still following the western trend.
B.Guochao’s success relies on Western recognition.
C.Cultural awareness is the key to winning market share.
D.National pride arouses the passion for guochao.

Many teachers believe frequent quizzes (小测验) help students better grasp classroom material. Crede, an associate professor of psychology, was skeptical that something as simple as a quiz could positively affect students’ academic performance. He decided to dig deeper and conduct an analytic study of existing research to see if there was any proof to the idea. What he discovered truly surprised him.
Crede analyzed data from previously published studies that examined 52 classes with almost 8,000 students, primarily college-level courses, to determine if frequent quizzes improved the students’ academic performance. Laboratory settings were kept out of the study because Crede wanted to observe whether similar studies from labs would apply to general classrooms.
Crede discovered that when students are quizzed over class material at least once a week, they tend to perform better on midterm and final exams compared to students who did not take quizzes. He also found that students who took frequent quizzes were less likely to fail the class, especially if they were struggling with the course content. Students who struggle the most in a class seem to benefit the greatest from frequent quizzes. The other surprising thing was how much quizzes helped reduce failure rates in classes. The chances of passing a class went through the roof where instructors used this. In addition to quiz frequency, another factor that seemed to positively affect students’ performance was immediate feedback from instructors. Also, quizzes that required students to answer with written responses proved more beneficial to their understanding of class material compared to multiple-choice questions.
Asking teachers to grade written quizzes daily or weekly may discourage some from carrying them out in their classes. Instead, it is recommended that instructors give online quizzes that can be automatically graded by a course management system. Quiz attributes (属性) proved insignificant in the study, including whether the tests were pop quizzes or planned, or if they were online or on paper.
28.What did Crede do to ensure his study’s accuracy
A.He focused on what happened in classrooms.
B.He researched as many students as he could.
C.He made laboratory settings as real as possible.
D.He gave easy quizzes to make every student do well.
29.What does the underlined words “went through the roof” mean in paragraph 3
A.lost B.appeared C.faded D.rose
30.What did Crede discover in his study
A.Frequent quizzes could remove students’ failure in classes.
B.Frequent quizzes were especially useful to the struggling students.
C.Instructors’ feedback was more important than frequent quizzes.
D.Multiple-choice questions shouldn’t be included in frequent quizzes.
31.What may be a disadvantage of frequent quizzes for teachers
A.Accessing the Internet less frequently.
B.Being unable to get appropriate test materials.
C.Having too many exam papers to mark.
D.Finding it hard to choose the right type of quiz.

Now, artificial intelligence (AI) is coming for the most attractive and exciting jobs. Stars may worry that AI is stealing their work and giving less talented performers the skills to take away their audience. In fact, the famous individuals complaining the most loudly about the new technology are the ones who stand to benefit the most. Far from weakening star power, AI will make the biggest celebrities bigger than ever by allowing them to be in all markets, in all types of media, at all times.
This isn’t the first time that technology has changed the rules of the fame game. People started talking about stars in the 18th century when the widespread access to reading materials made it possible to be truly famous within your lifetime. Film and radio originally seemed like a threat to stars, who worried their live performances would be devalued. In fact, those technologies started the era of the superstar, a term that caught on in the 1920s. A similar worry greeted the invention of television. But again, the new tech made the famous even more so, bringing them into every living room.
As AI-generated content floods into the entertainment business, artists and entertainment professionals are worrying once more that their fame will be reduced — and again, the outcome is likely to be the opposite. These opportunities come with conditions attached. Artists are right to worry about copyright, which must be protected if AI is not to become a legalised form of piracy. Until these copyright concerns are addressed, AI will be a legal Wild West.
The bigger question is how the age of the all-around superstar will appeal to audiences. The risk is boredom. AI is brilliant at remixing and repeating old material but less good at creating exciting content that, for now, remains a human specialty.
Yet the entertainment market is highly self-correcting. Audiences have the power to turn a hot hit into a has-been one in an instant, as stars are all too aware. While AI-powered entertainment grows, consumers still seem to enjoy human drama. Sport, perhaps the most AI-proof, real-life event there is, has seen its value to media companies rise in recent years.
32.What is the primary concern of stars in paragraph 1
A.The inability to master AI. B.The decline in their popularity.
C.The low level of their acting skills. D.The improvement of audience’s taste.
33.Why does the author mention “film, radio and television”
A.To show the difficulties facing the stars then.
B.To confirm AI will surely come into every family.
C.To prove the techno-panic is common in history.
D.To predict the trend of the technological development.
34.How can superstars attract audience according to the text
A.By avoiding the use of AI. B.By cooperating with directors.
C.By improving content creation. D.By learning more advanced technologies.
35.What is the text mainly about
A.The era of AI is around the corner.
B.AI creates a brand-new entertainment industry.
C.AI makes stars worried and audience demanding.
D.AI is more of a helper than an imagined threat to stars.

All the specialists told us what would happen during my five-year-old sister’s treatment. The doctors talked about the potential side effects of the drugs that might occur over the next two years of treatment.
When our parents told our sister she had cancer, her biggest concern was losing her hair. “Will all my hair really fall out Will people make fun of me ” she asked, her voice filled with worry.
“Don’t worry,” I later told her in secret. “When you lose your hair, I’ll shave mine with a razor (剃刀) and we’ll both be bald (秃头的). We’ ll walk down the street proudly with our bald heads held high. We’ll swim, go to parks and play at the beach with our bald heads.” “Promise ” she asked. “Promise,” I replied, thinking it was a small sacrifice (牺牲) as long as it could cheer her and help her recover.
The days and weeks of treatment began to affect her little body. As the doctors had warned, she began to lose her hair. At first, I found some on her clothes and towels. A short time later, I found her hair on the backs of the sofas and chairs she’d been on. Before long, there were masses of hair on her pillow every morning as she awoke from her restless sleep. A few days later, she was finally completely bald.
Her head was very smooth and soft as I held her. It reminded me of that wonderful time when I held her in my arms and was amazed at how lucky I was to have such a beautiful and healthy baby sister. Her bald head was beautiful, but it also showed the signs of her battle with cancer. One afternoon at home, I thought it was time to shave my head.
However, it was then that I began seriously worrying about something. How ugly would I become when I was bald Would my parents — who always encouraged us to maintain a certain image — scold (责备) me for having my head shaved Would people, especially my classmates, make fun of me
