If parents never let their children try new things because of the fear of making mistakes, their children won’t learn important life pared to running into big troubles alone later, it’s better for teens to try and fail with their parents’ help now.
Parents can start to allow their children to make decisions when they are about 12 years old. Teach the teens to think about their choices. Ask them questions about why they make the choices. When parents understand their children’s reasons, it’s easier to guide their thinking and help them make the right decisions. Parents can start with things such as music, clothes, and money. When kids are young, parents can check what music their children listen to. But as they grow, let them choose music to show who they are.
No one likes to be shamed for their mistakes. Saying things like “I told you so” or “You should have listened to me” is an amazing way of pushing teens away from their parents. It is important for parents to focus on helping their children instead of always being right.
