My Views on Live Streaming I firmly believe live streaming is a positive and impactful phenomenon that enriches modern life. Firstly, it breaks geographical barriers, allowing real-time interaction between creators and audiences worldwide, and fostering connections and shared experiences. Secondly, it empowers individuals and small businesses — many showcase skills, sell products, or start careers, driving economic vitality. Additionally, it offers diverse content, from educational lectures to cultural shows, catering to different needs. While there are occasional drawbacks like false promotions, proper regulation can address them. Overall, its unique advantages make it an invaluable part of contemporary society.

Now, Julie peeked out behind the stage curtain and the theatre was full. Faces blurred into a warm sea of light, but her eyes locked on Kirsty in the front row, waving wildly with a big grin. Her heart fluttered, but as Swan Lake’s familiar notes filled the air, she breathed deeply and stepped onto the stage. Every twirl, leap, and stretch embraced her 11-year-old self——scraped knees, park practice, and Kirsty’s silly teaching attempts flashed through her mind. Her solo ended to thunderous applause, and she spotted Kirsty wiping tears.
Bowing at the end, she saw her family. Her mom stood in the aisle, hands pressed to her chest, tears streaming. “I’m so proud of you,” she whispered, hugging her happily “Sorry I couldn’t afford lessons back then.” Julie smiled through tears: “It made this sweeter.” Kirsty rushed over, squeezing them both. “You were amazing! Way better than my piano-crashing days.” Laughing together, Julie knew her dream wasn’t just dancing——it was the love and persistence that carried her here, finally shining on stage at 40.

Timmy, who was an experienced bus driver, always greeted his passengers, including his usual friend, a thirteen- year- old Jonathan, with a smile, when they boarded his bus. But this morning was different.
Because of the heavy snowfall last night, almost everyone at the bus stop rushed inside Timmy’s bus to avoid the cold, making the bus more crowded than ever. After twenty minutes, he arrived at his first stop for the day. A few passengers got off the bus. While the bus was still crowded, it appeared to have more space. Timmy breathed a sigh of relief and continued on his way to the next stop of the day. However, he was amazed to hear the bus passengers arguing.
“I don’t know what’s wrong with the kids these days! ” Timmy heard a young man complaining loudly. Timmy immediately looked in the driving mirror. But there were so many passengers that he couldn’t find out who had expressed his displeasure.
“Look at those big eyes just staring at you! Can’t you see that the poor old lady is in trouble She has been standing for so long! ” Timmy heard another woman complaining. When Timmy looked in the mirror again, he noticed a middle- aged woman standing beside an elderly woman, looking with dissatisfaction at a window seat where Jonathan was seated.
“Well, ” the elderly woman spoke up. “I don’t mind standing here. As we know, many teenagers get up earlier than we do and often feel tired. ”

He smiled at Jonathan and told him that he had arrived at his stop in sign language. After returning his smile and gesturing a “thank you”, Jonathan got off the bus using the crutches. American farmers are using an ancient tree from India to produce beans for making protein-rich foods and biofuels (生物燃料). The tree is called Pongamia (水黄皮).
Farmers in the southern state of Florida have found Pongamia trees grow well there too. They have now replaced citrus (柑橘) trees, which have long faced major struggles with disease.
Pongamia trees like hot temperatures and can survive in dry or rainy conditions. They also do not require special chemicals to kill insects and other life that might influence growth. Climate and disease have little effect on Pongamia trees. They are so strong that they can survive in the terrible situations even without much care.
Pongamia trees can produce small brown beans. The beans can be used in the production of several products, including cooking oil and protein-rich foods. The beans can also be used to produce a kind of biofuel, mostly for airplanes.
Unlike oranges and other citrus fruits, the beans do not require much effort to pick. Instead, they can be collected with a machine that shakes the trees to make them fall to the ground. A San Francisco-based company has invented a process that removes something from the beans that gives them a bad taste, allowing the beans to be used for food production.
Experts said that turning the wild trees into an agricultural success story was not easy. There are no books to read on the subject, and no one else has ever tried it. John Olson is a Florida farmer who replaced his citrus trees with plenty of Pongamia. He had little choice because, for the most part, the citrus trees died of disease, and the citrus industry has died in Florida, too. Olson said his citrus business made money throughout the 1980s and 1990s, although the farm was not large.
28.Which of the following fits Pongamia trees
A.They suffer from disease easily.
B.They grow slowly even with much care.
C.They require special chemicals to kill insects.
D.They can survive in the bad natural environment.
29.What does paragraph 4 mainly tell us about Pongamia beans
A.Their special taste. B.Their practical value.
C.Their production process. D.Their growing environment.
30.Which word best describes the way of collecting Pongamia beans
A.Easy. B.Costly. C.Stupid. D.Troublesome.
31.What made John Olson give up his citrus trees
A.The plant disease. B.The buying price.
C.The size of the farm. D.The request from the company.

Rescarchers have developed a new soft robot design that conducts itself with three behaviours at the same time: rolling (翻滚) forward. turning like a record and following a path that goes around a central point. The equipment, which operates without human or computer control, holds promise for developing soft robots that can be used to AA- head and map unknown environments.
The new soft robots are called twisted ring-bots (扭曲环机器人). They are made of something like a ribbon (缎带) and then joined together at the end to form a ring.
When the robots are placed on a surface that is at least 55 degrees Celsius, which is hotter than the surrounding air, one part of the ribbon touching the surface becomes smaller, while one part in the air does not. This induces a rolling movement: the warmer the surface, the faster the robot rolls. “The ribbon rolls on its horizontal axis (横轴), giving the ring forward strength,” says Jie Yin, a professor of mechanical and acrospace engineering.
The twisted ring-bot also turns along its central axis. And as the twisted ring-bot moves forward it travels in a path around a central point, basically moving in a large circle. However, if the twisted ring-bot meets a boundary--like the wall of a box--it will travel along the boundary.
The twisted ring-bots are examples of equipment whose behaviour is governed by physical intelligence, meaning their actions are determined by their structural design and the materials they are made of, rather than being directed by a computer or human.
“Soft robotics is still a relatively new field.” Yin says. “Finding new ways to control the movement of soft robots in a repeatable and engineered way moves the field forward. And advancing our understanding of what is possible is exciting.”
32.What makes the robot roll faster and faster
A.The ribbon. B.The central axis.
C.The shape and material. D.The higher surface temperature.
33.How does the author introduce the new soft robots
A.By explaining the robot’s working ways. B.By quoting experts’ opinions.
C.By making some comparisons. D.By offering reasons and results.
34.What is Yin’s attitude towards twisted ring- bots
A.Unclear. B.Favourable. C.Negative. D.Doubtful.
35.What is the best title for the text
A.The New Soft Robots B.Ribbons and Their Rolling
C.Three Creative Movements D.Twisted Rings and the Axis

Julie twirled (旋转) in her white ballet costume. She couldn’t believe, at 40, she was going to fulfil her dream of becoming a ballerina in tonight's show.
Tying her ballet shoe ribbons, she remembered that moment. When she was 11, she’d been fascinated by the graceful dancing and beautiful costumes in Swan Lake on TV. So she had decided to be a ballerina instead of a nurse when she grew up. Back then, her mum shook her head. “Sorry, love, we can’t afford ballet lessons.” Julie tasted disappointment.
Next day, she peeked (偷看) through the window of the local dance school and tried to follow the routines. But without a pole to hold on to, she fell over and hurt her knees. She struggled to get up and continued to copy the girls, stretching her arms in an arc (弧形) .
She noticed Kirsty from her school in the class. “Will you teach me ” Julie begged. Kirsty blinked. “I’m not sure I’ll remember the steps when the teacher isn't showing us what to do.”
It turned out Kirsty was a hopeless teacher. But the girls giggled and became firm friends.
Afterwards, they often practised in the park. Julie listened to ballet music in her bedroom every day, doing complex dance moves. “Julie, please turn down that music. It’s giving me a sore head,” her mum complained. Julie loved the music for the ballet. She couldn’t understand how her mum didn’t appreciate the emotions in it. Kirsty wasn’t a fan either. “I'd rather listen to pop tunes. I asked grandma if you could take my lessons instead of me, but she said no.” Julie hugged her thoughtful friend. “Thanks for asking.”
Kirsty pointed to a bruise (淤青) on her arm. “Ballet may not help my clumsiness (笨拙) anyway.” “What happened ” Julie asked. “I crashed into the piano at my ballet lesson.” They both burst out laughing.
